Name Re-use/Blank ID Numbers

Just trying to get the talk page on this started, since no one else has come here. What about the previously mentioned issue of names & ID's getting reused? A lot of metagame-play is based around character IDs. I do see griefing potential if, somehow, a nere-do-well manages to grab the id of someone formerly in a group they like to grief, and that group, for whatever reason, is not informed of the specific character's retirement, drama ensues. Any thoughts? If not, I'll have to vote kill. --Slightly Lions 02:46, 21 September 2007 (BST)

No point in screwing up all the links or places where the id was linked. Just makes a hassle for everyone.--Karekmaps?! 13:19, 21 September 2007 (BST)

unlike virtually every delete character suggestion I have ever seen, this one has promise. there are a few things which should be adressed though...

  1. how are contacts handled when a person deletes an account and a new player chooses the same name? what if that person is the same player, and merely deactivated/reactivated their account as a way to start fresh, but they liked/decided to keep their name?
  2. as for those who point out that most people stop playing after a few days, I think after six months of inactivity, an email should be sent automatically asking if they want to delete their character. characters should never be auto-deleted.
  3. As James Ennis, I think Xp should be a factor with how endings are handed out. Level might be a factor too. Something other than randomness. I'd hate to feel as though I'd done well with a character and get a crappy random ending.
  4. a system of voting in new endings like the clothing votes.

All in all, I liked it enough to vote KEEP, but if this gets shot down, consider taking these things into consideration ina revision. I've never seen a "delete character" suggestion with such a positive response, so with some tweaking i think this could work.--Liam Degen 01:47, 25 September 2007 (BST)
