Suggestion talk:20071012 Fixing Ruined Buildings Costs 10 AP
From The Urban Dead Wiki
I hope this one doesn't get dogpiled like the last one. In a zombie apocalypse game, one should not be feeling sorry for the zombies. Slicer 01:51, 12 October 2007 (BST)
- Funny how people don't think about barricade strafing and how even with that 10 AP cost and the OMGBIG! toolboxes survivors still have an advantage on raw, average, and stored AP. 25 AP and you stop 3 zombies with this suggestion, some reason that seems almost reasonable compared to the 15 it takes now.--Karekmaps?! 08:48, 12 October 2007 (BST)
I see WanYao is talking pure shit. To anybody reading this who is crying about having to kill zombies to clear a building I say this: Try actually debarricading and ruining a building. Put one fully-experienced human in an EHB building versus one fully-experienced zombie outside and the zombie will have no chance of opening the building, killing the survivor and landing the ruin; in actual fact the zombie would stand little-or-no chance of clearing the barricades. Have the zombie inside a ruined building versus the survivor trying to reclaim and, as long as he has a toolbox (and if a fully-experienced survivor doesn't he would have to be a trenchcoater) and either a firearm or an axe then it would be relatively easy for them to clear the building, repair the damage and barricade up to at lease VSB. That's a massive AP imbalance. --The Hierophant 13:14, 12 October 2007 (BST)
- This is not a "1 zombie vs 1 survivor" game, balance is on a group basis, and u forgot some insignificant point... call it iniciative: ANY zombie that was killed when trying to retake the building is a "7 AP full barricade" if the survivors fail the raid: 6 point to stand up (u have Ankle Grab, and the survivor Headshot no?) and 1 point to enter again to the building. Now, let's see on the survivor side: if someone has revivification syringes, 10 points to revive and some sort of coordination (u can stand up yourself, a survivor, no), if not, add the "revive point tour".—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kaipirinha (talk • contribs) at an unknown time.

- And the survivor that just expended all his AP expelling a zombie from a ruin, and barricading up to VS... what happens when the zombie comes online, Heirophant? I'll tell you what. The zombie brings the cades down, gets in, and severely injures the survivor (if not a kill). The survivor has to run, and leave the building to be ruined, or die, and go look for a revive, and leave the building to be ruined. One on one, zombies rock, long term. They just stand back up and keep bashing at the cades and the harmanz (it's totally in genre). The only thing that limits zombies is peoples willingness to play them. I notice a cycle... whenever they get a substantial new skill, the numbers skyrocket back up, only to fall back when it all gets old again. Zombies hanging out for the next buff? - Well said, boxy & Kaipirinha. Certain players here whining and bitching about how easy survivors have things should realize that trying to balance things via a game fix is ridiculous and will only help temporarily. Like I posted in the votes, this is a problem with your PR, and responses like yours don't help. Why don't you call Sally Strothers or someone and start a charity. "Christian Zombie Fund" anyone? "Without your help, poor zombies like Slicer, Hierophant, and Karek are forced to wander the lonely streets without BARHAH, fresh brains, or barricades they can crack." --Slightly Lions 13:07, 13 October 2007 (BST)
- Actually, the biggest reason this got my keep vote is the positive effect it would have on survivors en masse, but of course because my opinion differs from yours I only care about zombies and bitching about imbalance. By the way, bitching about people bitching is still bitching.--Karekmaps?! 22:00, 13 October 2007 (BST)

- Not having a toolbox does not make someone a trenchcoater. Groups sometimes have only a few members in charge of repairs that carry toolboxes in order to minimize the impact of having to carry these heavy items. In short, not all survivors have toolboxes. --Pdeq 01:13, 14 October 2007 (BST)
Don't want to vote, just want to quickly comment on the idea of repairing costing the same as ruining. While that is a balanced idea, I don't think that that sort of attrition-based gameplay where victory is based on throwing more AP at an obstacle than your opponents can would be fun. --Toejam 00:52, 19 October 2007 (BST)
