Construction Sites

Timestamp: Cap'n Silly, 02:15, 12 January 2007 (UTC) 2:15, 12 January 2007 (is the timestamp right this time, Funt?) 03:30, 13 January 2007 [One day, you'll know how to put the correct timestamp up, but this is not that day. --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 10:21, 13 January 2007 (UTC)]
Type: New Building.
Scope: People who like construction sites.
Description: I suggest we replace a quater of all wasteland with "Construction Sites" These would be fenced off, no doors but barricadable, like Junkyards.

Items found here could be-

Length Of Pipe- 5% search rate

Flak Jacket- 3% search rate (safety gear)

Knife - 2% search rate (Tool of some sort)

Beer- 2% search rate

Fuel Cans- 2% search rate

Cell phones- 1% search rate

These would be ransackable, with flavour being something like: "You smash at the controls of a crane/heavy lifter/meerkat brain. It creaks loudly and drops a load of debris/bricks/cement/poo onto the construction site.

These would be free runnable, and count as Tall Buildings. This would also be an excellent place for the PR weapon chainsaws if they were implemented.

  3. Keep - Yeah, I'm always up for new buildings. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:50, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  4. Meerkat Brain - I wonder what the update text for this would be. "Blinking their eyes, survivors finally remember that those big concrete things where they thought there was nothing are actually half-finished buildings. Happily taking advantage of the structures that each and every one of them had been ignoring, they are now able to enter construction sites, which are bizarrely surrounded by chain link fences that weren't there yesterday."--J Muller 07:27, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  5. Keep - The simplest explanation for how junkyards became construction site: It was always this way. --Wikidead 07:31, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  6. Keep - Simple, not too great. Only minor quibble is that this may open up Free Running Lanes. Other than that, fine. --TheDavibob 08:36, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  7. Keep - we must assume that [he who cannot be named] would implement these in such a way as to limit the amount of new free running lanes that could open up. The famous Mockridge-Tapton Divide must not be bridged! --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 10:24, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  8. Keep - Aye, we must assume that [aforementioned being] possesses human cognitive facilities, and is not just a suggestion input algorythm with a random number generator thrown in --Gene Splicer 14:22, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  9. Can we have those construction signs warning people of a construction site nearby? --Slice 'N' Dicin' Axe Hack 15:07, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

  1. Kill -- There are a lot of buildings already, removing more empty locations means easier freerunning and less people having to either take a detour or take a risk and step outside. -- Whitehouse 13:56, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  2. No - Take out the rubbish about making them into junkyards/towers. Zoift 16:42, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  3. Against - Sure. Let me get right on working on a construction site with zombies around. I'd approve this suggestion if was changed to leave the wasteland tiles alone but changed their external descriptions to be that of: Empty Lot, Construction site, field, etc. --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™20:24, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  4. Kill - As Whitehouse said, leave the ratio of open space/buildings alone -- boxy T L ZS PA DA 01:26, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
  5. Don't need more buildings, especially ones with fuel cans. --ExplodingFerret 05:50, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

High/Secondary Schools

Timestamp: TheDavibob 08:29, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Type: New Building Complex
Scope: All
Description: Schools - I am fine with them how they are, common and not too useful. However, they all seem to be small, one block, lower school. So, I propose to have High Schools, 5 in total, spread around Malton. All 6 square complexes, all with varying buildings. For example of how to change, here is the original region in Crowbank:

[[1]]

And I am suggesting we change it to:

[[2]]

Right, a quick run through of the locations.

School fields: Parks. Maybe without the Flare Guns.

School: (SW) Same as current schools.

Science Block: As per a school, with added First Aid Kits, at 4%. I really can't see why they would have more, without going OTT.

Library: Nuff said.

Technology Block: Hmm... First Aid Kits (2% - to make Science blocks worthwhile), Lengths of Pipe (5%) and an easy way to get a knife (3%) for beginners. May be overbaricaded, but I don't really want it to be.

Auditorium Hmmm... Hard one. Binoculars (2%), books (3%)

Interior descriptions: Science Block: You stand in a disused lab. Ruined schoolbooks scatter the desks.

Tech Block: You stand in an empty Workshop. Various tool racks are empty.

Auditorium The rows of seats lie empty, the curtain hanging down.

Each school building consists of 6 squares, and lie in the following locations in Malton:

Crooketown [3]

Greentown [4]

Pashenton [5]

West Beckton [6]

And of course, the one in Crowbank, as above.

Each will consist of a library, a school block, and two playing fields. The other two buildings will be either of the three new blocks, Technology, Science and the Auditorium.

Note: The buildings do not count as a large building, due to technical reasons.

  2. Keep- Finally, exciting schools! --Cap'n Silly FOOGER! 09:20,12 January 2007 (UTC)
  3. Keep/Change - I like the overall concept of more flava-flave locations - but binoculars in the auditorium? Wha tha fu? --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 10:27, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  4. Keep - They're opera glasses. Because the auditoriums are really, really big. There need to be more binocular places, make the game less mally --Gene Splicer 14:27, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  5. Sweet! What about the halls? Can we search the lockers as well? --Slice 'N' Dicin' Axe Hack 15:08, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  6. Ok - Why not? (edit:Would these function as large buildings?)Zoift 16:48, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

  8. The path is set... Soon we will finally have a zombie cheerleader horde in malton.. excellent MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 20:14, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
  9. Keep -Awsome, but change tech block to wood shop or auto shop, and science block to gym, since its right next to the field. When inside the high school, you should be able to access classes like science anyways. --Rocker820 22:34, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

  1. Against - I'd approve this suggestion if was changed to leave the school tiles alone but changed their external/internal descriptions to comprise the various school systems in Malton (ex: Elementary, preschools, high schools, prep schools, technical colleges, reformatories, community colleges, and universities). Malton is a metropolis. It's going to have more than six schools in it. --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™20:26, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Re I am leaving most of the school tiles alone. I'm just adding a few more complexes, because most Secondary (British) schools are not small, and have extensive grounds. A couple of these could also be colleges, to be honest, and there is already the approved Malton University suggestion. -- Dance Emot.gifTheDavibob LLLDance Emot.gif 20:29, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Re:Re: Effectively changing only a few locations then? Hrm. Alright. I'll change my vote if you suggest one of those is a reformatory school. A place where the wealthy and influential dropped off their brats to get them out of their hair. --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™20:36, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  2. Sorry - I like the idea of adding a high school, but I dont think that any high school in city the size of Malton would take up 6 blocks. 2, maybe with the athletic fields, but that'd be unlikely. --GhostStalker 21:13, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
  3. Kill Most high schools aren't any larger than a hospital and they're almost certainly smaller than an office building. Don't assume every block is the same size, one square can easily represent a large high school. The only educational location that should take up six blocks is a university and I wouldn't want more than one of those. --Jon Pyre 00:26, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
  4. Kill - Same as Jon Pyre above. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 00:52, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
  5. Kill - Good idea, but it needs a revision. --Wikidead 01:19, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
  6. Kill - THings are fine it is --Aeneid 19:06, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
  7. Kill - The idea is alright, but just keep a name change for the single building. A school complex is never that big, especially in a city. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:53, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
  8. Kill umm... last I checked, high schools didn't take up six blocks. --AlexanderRM 12:45 PM, 15 January 2006 (EST)
  9. Kill - I think this needs some revision (as stated way above.) Highschools would be totally rad tho'. Werd to your mother. --Dead Man Wade 01:07, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
