Barricading XP

Timestamp: 08:18, 21 July 2006 (BST)
Type: Improvement.
Scope: Survivors with Construction.
Description: I think that all survivors who barricade things should get 1XP for each time they use the construction skill. During long sieges it is difficult to get XP because there is not enough AP to kill zombies because it is all being used up by keeping the barricades up. --Rhys Parker 08:20, 21 July 2006 (BST)

  1. Keep - Author vote. --Rhys Parker 08:20, 21 July 2006 (BST)
  2. Kill - The benifits of barricades are that it keeps Zombies outside. It's your choice as to what you think is more important. Also Zombies don't get XP for destorying barricades so I don't see why survivors should get XP for making them. And don't suggest for Zombies to get XP from barricades, it's been done to death already. - Jedaz 08:23, 21 July 2006 (BST)
  3. Kill - Even if you consider giving XP to the zombies to match, there is always the posibily of abuse.--Thari 08:32, 21 July 2006 (BST)
  4. Kill - Tempted to Spam as I can see how this will be abused. Youronlyfriend 08:59, 21 July 2006 (BST)
  5. Spam - WTFCENTAURS? This suggestion is insanity at it's most basic level. XP for barricading would be unbalancing to the extreme. Mr. Suggestion? Go away. Far away. To Peer Rejected, and never come back. –Xoid 09:09, 21 July 2006 (BST)

  8. Kill - You seem new (forgive me if you're not) so allow me to explain. As barricades can be put up in any building, and can be taken down, the player would not even have to leave their safehouse to get XP, and once they have construction they would be able to level up without really doing anything at all. They would simply be able to take down the barricades, barricade up to get XP, take them down again, put them up to get XP... you get the idea. The potential for abuse is huge. --Preasure 10:30, 21 July 2006 (BST)

  13. Kill - The benefit of barricading is not dying, as has been stated, this encourages over-barricading, and is made worse by the fact that zombies aren't included in the mix. --Rgon 15:31, 21 July 2006 (BST)

  24. Spam -Can you say ABUSE? Besides, survivors can already get XP from reviving, DNA extraction, combat, healing, reading, tagging and dumping bodies. Survivors DON'T need another XP source (at least not before ZOMBIES get one). And during a siege it is up to YOU to decide where you want to spend your AP. If your REALLY worried about getting XP, healing is alot more efficent (especially in a mall).--Pesatyel 04:28, 22 July 2006 (BST)
  25. Spam - 1. Spending 1 AP to drain 4 or 5 out of a zombie you haven't even met isn't good enough for you? 2. Gain 1xp per 1AP spent? that's almost axe efficiency, and you don't need zombies. 3. Barricade XP

Timestamp: 11:24, 21 July 2006 (BST)
Type: New XP source
Scope: All Players
Description: I propose that for every level a survivor barricades up to they gain 1XP. eg. if they raise the barricades from Very Strongly Barricaded to Heavily Barricaded they get 1XP but they then increase the level of the Heavy barricades to HB+1, they dont gain XP, this will stop it being used as an XP farm.

For zombies, everytime they lower the barricades by a level they gain 1XP, eg. if they break the Heavy Barricades down to Very Strong Barricades they gain 1XP but then lower it form VSB+2 to VSB+1 they dont gain XP.
To prevent abuse, the XP can only be gained from building barricades if the barricades are above Quite Strong.

Note: Only zombies can gain XP from destroying barricades.

  2. Kill - Getting Xp for doing things that give you a direct benifit is bad. - Jedaz 11:28, 21 July 2006 (BST)
  3. Kill - no more incentive is need to break/build barricades--Gage 12:00, 21 July 2006 (BST)
  4. Kill - I'd say that if there was to be any sort of XP benifit to making and breaking cades encouraging people to barricade up to EHB to get XP will just encourage overbarricading that'll trap new players outside. That and encouraging building to EHB makes it harder for Zs to break in. --Tethran 13:00, 21 July 2006 (BST)
  5. Kill - While this is light-years ahead of the previous suggestion, this doesn't address the unbalance zombies and survivors have in breaking and building barricades. It is a lot easier for survivors to build barricades than for zombies to break them. Plus what others said. --Brizth mod T W! 13:25, 21 July 2006 (BST)
  6. Kill - Much better, but still no dice. And as written, still encourages over-barricading. --Rgon 15:35, 21 July 2006 (BST)
  7. Kill - You have a couple of typos. It should be "Zombies" and "down a level". Fix it and I'll vote Keep --Gene Splicer 16:00, 21 July 2006 (BST)
  8. Spam - XP should be earned by interacting with other players. – Nubis 16:07, 21 July 2006 (BST)

  11. Spam - Unnecessary. Waste of time. XP for interaction for the win! Pardon the books, but they're infinitesimal and amusing. --Burgan 18:21, 21 July 2006 (BST)
  12. spam still not good and still unfixable!--Honestmistake 20:04, 21 July 2006 (BST)
  13. Kill As per Brizth -BrainsYummy 01:43, 22 July 2006 (BST)
  14. Spam -The zombie half is already in Peer Review. As for the first part, this is how I voted on the SAME suggestion above: Can you say ABUSE? Besides, survivors can already get XP from reviving, DNA extraction, combat, healing, reading, tagging and dumping bodies. Survivors DON'T need another XP source (at least not before ZOMBIES get one and the second half of this suggestion doesn't count).--Pesatyel 04:39, 22 July 2006 (BST)
  15. Spam - What will stop it being used as an xp farm? Each AP spent does raise it by 1 level until it gets pretty high. Also, survivors have plenty of ways to gain xp already. Also, this encourages dummy barricading. Also, WAIT TILL SIMILAR SUGGESTIONS HAVE AT LEAST A FRICKING FEW DAYS OF VOTING before submitting what is nearly a dupe. In the early days of this system, I would have duped this... --McArrowni 14:30, 22 July 2006 (BST)

  18. Keep -- only just a keep , survivors dont need XP for building cades , thats way to easy , where as , for a zombie to get a building from the VS level to a QS level could take anything from 3-30+ AP's , and 3 would be very very rare as i'm sure zombies know , only zombies should get XP , not survivors , other than that , it's a workable idea i guess--Yeoman the Zombie 10:33, 24 July 2006 (BST)

Zombie Radio

Timestamp: 12:00, 21 July 2006 (BST)
Type: improvement
Scope: Zombies with Death Rattle.
Description: I propose that zombies with the Death Rattle skill be able to broadcast messages over the radio. Note that they won't be able to change the channel (they're still zombies, after all), but they WILL be able to "BARHAR" all they like on the channel the radio transmitter is currently set to. As per Death Rattle, the messages will be in zombie speech.

My logic on this:

  • Zombies can receive messages on their handheld radio receivers, so they already have some access to the radio network.
  • Zombies are already using their human alts to broadcast messages anyway.
  • Radios won't last long in a zombie-occupied building (even in the unlikely event one of a dozen zombies doesn't smash it, the generator will soon run out of fuel), which prevents massive radio spam, but they would still last long enough to give the first few zombies inside a chance to say something to the world after clearing out the survivors.
  • Zombies can always ZK any zeds who spam, just like survivors can now PK any survivors that spam.
  • "Zambah Gangbang Harmanz! Barhar!" messages would let survivors know that one of their safehouses has fallen. Many such messages would let survivors know their safehouses are falling a lot. A constant stream of such messages would let survivors know that maybe safehouses aren't such a good idea anymore.

  7. Keep - This would be pretty cool to hear in-game. It wouldn't happen often. Normally I kill effects that are unlikely and rare, but for this it would heighten the experience. BTW, any points about radio spam are not really strong anymore; no one makes you carry a radio or listen to certain stations.(Plus, Broadcasters tune back to 26.00 when done to help deter spam) Requiring Death Rattle would be good to hear something interesting, but then it would be even more unlikely to happen.
