Speak Change

Timestamp: Canuhearmenow Hunt! 00:10, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Type: Game function change.
Scope: adds that depth to the game.
Description: This adds a new drop-down menu for the Speak button (Zombies don't get it, because they don't have the Vocal Ability) And the choices would be "Shocked, Normal, Worried, Angry, Happy, Elated, Suspicious." (Tell me if I forgot any good ones) The normal speaking we use currently would be the choice Normal. This would do the following, lets say I see a known PKer, It would read "Canuhearmenow (Worried) Is that a PKer?" This could add a element of Depth and Emotion to this game.

  4. Fancy Attack - No cracks a noble heart! --Officer Johnieo 02:25, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  5. Keep - This is a good idea, though not really significant. Change it to "Canuhearmenow said with worry: Is that a PKer?" to be more consistent with today's speech format. Add sarcastically, boredom, sadness, exhaustion, and menace. Give zombie death rattle something similar. --Wikidead 02:46, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

  9. Kill - God, lord almighty. Anything that makes Urban Dead even slightly look more like LiveJournal gets a very strong kill from me! Just use your silly little smiley faces if you want to say what your feeling and lack the verbal ability to get the idea across in what you say. --Rgon 04:37, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Cadaverous Charge

Timestamp: MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 01:35, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Type: Zombie Skill
Scope: 2x damage on 1st hit just entering a safehouse with survivors!
Description: Cadaverous Charge
  • Zombie skill, appears as a sub-skill of Lurching Gait. Adds no benefits to your human character. (Your zombie needs Lurching Gait to be able to do a flying tackle/takedown on a living survivor.)

Whenever your zombie enters a building that contains at least 1 survivor: Your 1st successful hit with a claw or bite attack deals double damage if it hits a survivor.

Limitations/Advantages:

  • If your zombie hits anything other than a survivor with their 1st hit upon entering that building (ex. a generator or radio, barricade, etc.) that one time bonus is lost.
  • If your zombie dies (is gunned down) or is revived before they get that 1st hit, again, it is lost (blown away in a hail of leadened headshot...)
  • If your zombie leaves this building (for example, the survivor left before you could hit them) this bonus is gone as soon as you leave this building.
  • You keep this bonus until you get that 1st hit unpon entering this building, yes technically you could leave, re-enter and do it again and again.. but that would cost extra in & out AP just to do 2x damage.. if you hit so how you use it is up to you.
  • Flak jackets still lower the damage by 20%, so depending on how much damage you deal (4,6,8) it may be reduced by that defensive equipment.
  • This skill could be handy in tandem with other zombies who have Feeding Drag (he's good and hurt... you're mine drags away..)
  • This charge only works indoors, outdoors survivors probably have enough maneuvering room to avoid this kind of attack.

Rebutts: "Dear sweet merciful zombie Jesus, that's so broken.. blah blah.." Um, no, cuz zombies can only do 2,3 or 4 damage currently.. which would be 4,6 or 8 damage once with this buff. Your zombie has to find survivors to get this bonus... spending AP checking buildings, and it only works indoors.

It's a one shot takedown a nice heavy hit for a zombie for entering a safehouse and finding a living target. Your zombie gets excited and tries to knock them down hard and fast before going for the good and nasty bites and slashes. It's a zombie version of the classic bully on top tactic commonly seen in schoolyards, but a lot more biting.

It can also help zombies get a little more XP before getting gunned down in a well defended safehouse, and it's a big suprise for the survivor on the recieving end! ("man, I got rocked by that zombie, ouch!")

  1. Author Keep A little something... MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 01:35, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  2. keep, sure - but maybe bring it down to 1.5x damage rounded up? double is a little high, even if it is only one or two hits per day. Also, maybe you could make it first time you enter that specific building on that day. oh, and duck, becuase the flak cannons are going to get rolled out to try and shoot this one down. --Kaminobob 01:57, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Re Good point, lol, so techincally having a flak jacket can actually save you a bit from zombies.. if they have this skill. Kinda cool actually. MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 04:29, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  3. Keep - As-is. I like it. I don't understand how this could possibly be "next to worthless". It's more damage! But it's not overpowered, either, since it's only once. --Pinpoint 05:32, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  4. Keep - I like this one. It's a real morale boost for a zombie who breaks in somewhere - and it's got flavour - and it's not overpowered - and it can't be abused. --Funt Solo 10:13, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Keep - At last, flak jackets have use against zombies! Though I'd like it even better if it only worked for Bite XD, thanks to my recent considerations about Bite. Unsigned.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 13:21, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  5. Not bad. Not bad. And it's a skill, so it doesn't apply to every single zombie. -Mark 16:06, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  6. I like it. Simple and fits the genre to a degree. I mean, normally, a zombie would go after the meal above all else, right?--Pesatyel 02:09, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
  7. Keep - Far from overpowered and it makes sense. I'm all for it. --Carl Panzram 19:06, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Heavily Revise - I like the idea, I really do. Its just that you must change it so that its like the first hit no matter what. And also this is as good as those firearms we all know and love.--Canuhearmenow Hunt! 01:52, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Re - er, zombies don't get as excited charging down other zombies if that's what you meant.. it's a skill meant to mean zombie charge tackles a survivor and gives them a savage beating, once anyways. Just kept it simple, but specified things to prevent abuse. MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 04:27, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  2. Kill - Next to worthless. --Burgan Burgan 02:21, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  3. Kill - As Burgan.--Mr yawn Scotland flag.JPG 08:05, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  4. Kill I'm not much for buffs that are just straight damage boosts. --Jon Pyre 09:28, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  5. As Burgan said. --ExplodingFerret 16:43, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  6. Kill I like the idea (especially since it finally gives flak jackets a purpose against zombies), but the current version gives bites a bit too much of a boost. I think it would make more sense if it gave claw attacks double damage, but bites 1.5x damage. Make that change and you get a keep from me. --Reaper with no name 16:54, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Meh Meh Spam - Zombies really do not need this buff. Can survivors get a buff if they eneter a building with zombies in? Well only zombies then? That would be better, but until then this is too much for zombies, and anyway bites don't need buffs- remember? --MarieThe Grove 16:00, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Re Awww, no flying head-chomp? It might take a few AP to connect with that 1st hit anyways... =MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 19:45, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
      • Re - No you can't have flying head-chomp. ;) --MarieThe Grove 21:38, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Field Researcher

Timestamp: Reaper with no name 21:55, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Type: New Class
Scope: New players
Description: NecroTech isn't the only company interested in the zombie outbreak. Many companies have hired skilled Field Researchers to go into Malton and study the zombies.

It took me forever, but I finally thought of an idea for a combat-oriented science class that makes some sense! Field Researchers start with the Knife Combat skill, as well as a Knife, first aid kit, and binoculars. Like any other Scientist character, they have to pay 150 XP for military skills, 100 XP for civilian skills, and 75 XP for science skills.

Also, for clarification's sake, think of these guys as the types who would go live out in the African wilderness studying animals for weeks or months at a time. They're scientists, but they know how to survive on their own without civilization (hence their proficiency with knives, as they've been using them for everything from cutting to hunting and more).

  1. Author Vote - Jane Goodall and zombies. A match that could only be made in UD. --Reaper with no name 21:55, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  2. KRICKEY!!! Ohhh, this zombie's really pissed now! Works for me.. there are human beings crazy enough to do it, millitary or scientist.. hell civillians crazy enough to do it are reporters, lol. MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 01:41, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
  3. Keep - I like it, it's a highly entertaining idea, and nifty idea. Give them a combat method to stay alive early untill they have other methods mearned. Nifty, seems like fun. --Rgon 04:43, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Meh - Its good, fairly balanced and adds more of a selection to starting characters, but it doesn't really resemble a scientist character, more of a civilian one. Add a scientist skill instead of a civilian one and i'll change to keep.--Mr yawn Scotland flag.JPG 22:29, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  2. Kill - Malton is quarentined, doesn't really add anything either, and it's really needed. --Officer Johnieo 23:39, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  3. Kill - Well, technically under UD backstory anyone who plays as the Military class gets parachuted into the city. But I agree that this class really isn't needed. -- Andrew McM W! 23:44, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  4. I'd prefer suggestions that fix one of the existing classes to have a knife rather than add a new one, and the relevant suggestions that do that are currently in PR. I'm not convinced by the backstory, and this new addition fails to interest me. Unnecessary. --ExplodingFerret 02:48, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
    • Re - Back when I made my Nurse suggestion, people were complaining that there was no combat-oriented science class. That's what this suggestion adds. It's a gaping hole in the variety of the science classes, for crying out loud! Also, sending field researchers into Malton to study the zombies makes a heck of a lot more sense than parachuting soldiers into the center of Malton far away from the edge of the quarantine zone where most of the army is. --Reaper with no name 03:39, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
  5. Kill I don't know, seems unlikely that anyone would take up this kind of profession. Besides, Malton is quarantined, which as far as I know, means nobody is allowed in, unless they were already inside which seems unlikely.

  1. Situations Vacant - We're looking for hard working volunteers to be parachuted into a zombie infested city to study the violent undead whose only desire is to tear the living apart in a frenzy of blood and gore. We provide you with a knife, some band-aids and a set of binoculars. --Funt Solo 23:54, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Re Well, if you're going to be sarcastic about it. Join the army! As a scout we parachute you into an infested city with a gun and a flare! We may have lost hundreds of troops launching them in here with minimal weapons before, but we're bound to get it right sooner or later! :P -- Andrew McM W! 00:08, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
