Removed by author for daily edit. Origional suggest_time=MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 19:53, 4 December 2006 (UTC) Basically every kill vote implied a keep if one thing was changed, I am a slave to my "fans" er.. angry mob that follows me.. yes that's it.|

A Skill To Make Railstations Interesting

Timestamp: Jon Pyre 06:56, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Type: Skill
Scope: Civilian
Description: Railroads currently have no notable features. Here's an idea to make them sort of a "wild card" kind of resource building.

When all the trains departed before quarantine this left many boxcars locked and abandoned on the tracks. Survivors with knowledge of railway equipment, the Engineering skill, have been able to move these cars to the station platforms where they can be easily looted.

Survivors with Engineering would have a new button inside non-ransacked Railroad Stations: "Search Tracks". If they find a car with worthwhile cargo (2% chance) they might get a message like "You find a shipment of medical supplies and move it to the platform." The building description would be amended to say "There is an open boxcar with medical supplies at the platform." Once a car is at the station Engineers would no longer be able to search the tracks. The boxcar's presence would add new items to the railway station's normal search odds for all to find. Normal searching would have a 1/1000 chance of emptying out the last of the boxcar, removing it from the building description and no longer allowing those items to be found. There would be no boxcar and no items until someone found another one on the tracks. Ransacking a building will also remove any boxcar present and you cannot search the tracks when the building is ransacked.

There would be different kinds of cargo, each giving a different set of items. Only one of these could be present and active at any given point.

  • Medical Shipment: First-Aid Kits 14%, Knives "Scalpels" 1%
  • Military Shipment: Pistols 1%, Clips 7%, Shotguns 1%, Shells 6%, Flares 1%, Flak Jackets 2%
  • Electronics Shipment: Mobile Phones 5%, Radio 2%, Radio Transmitter 8%
  • Industrial Shipment: Generator 3%, Fuel 3%, Pipes 5%, Wirecutters 5%

This should make Railroad Stations useful but unpredictable. You could limp into one while infected hoping to find a FAK kit and be greeted by the sight of radios and phones, or possibly nothing at all. I can imagine a benevolent survivor returning to their safehouse and annoucing "They just found some ammunition at the train station! If you're running low stock up there before it's gone!"

Keep Votes

  1. Keep A constantly shifting not always resource building. I think it'd be pretty interesting. --Jon Pyre 06:56, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  2. Keep Though I'd rather see the chance of the boxcar running out to be slightly higher and the chance to find a shipment be higher to compensate. I like it overall. --Burgan 07:09, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Re Not a bad way of doing it. I suggested it this way so one altruistic engineer can sacrifice their AP to find a car and make it a resource building for everyone else for a little while. --Jon Pyre 07:12, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  3. Keep - I like it, though I agree with Burgan --Gene Splicer 10:25, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  4. Keep - The stations as they are now serve no practical purpose, and it stands to reason that the semantics of search percentages and where the trains are coming from can always be worked out by Kevan behind the scenes (as such, quibbling over these details is useless). --Juri Arisugawa 12:28, 4 December 2006 (EST)
  5. Keep - Sure, but don't call the skill Engineering.--Labine50 MH|ME|P 18:37, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  6. Keep - hate the name, but I like the idea. -- Nicks 01:57, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Keep - The name "Engineering" should probably be changed to something like "Railway Employment" to avoid confusion. Other than that, this could use a couple tweaks, but is pretty good in general.

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Interesting, but "Engineering" is hardly a reasonable name for this. My main question is whether there will be a version of Shopping for this. --Wikidead 07:31, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Re Nope. Only one car is present at a time and only those items can be found. By "Engineering" I'm referring to railroad engineers. Was the name your only objection? --Jon Pyre 07:37, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
      • Re to Re: Yes, I knew "Engineering" was a reference to railroad engineers, but because Malton is presumably a British city long after the industrial revolution, "Engineering" seems to imply something else. The name wasn't an objection. I think the reasons I chose to vote kill are the same reasons Pesatyel did: I'm confused and that this is a bit overpowered. --Wikidead 08:02, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  2. I'm confused. Okay, when I search, I have a 2% chance of finding one of the 4 cars. Then what? The suggestion isn't clear on how long a car "is available." And once a car is "no longer available" what happens? Once all cars are "no longer available" do they just ALL become available again? And your % are WAAAY to high.--Pesatyel 07:43, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Re Every time you search for a car you have a 2% of finding one. Which one you find is completely random among the four varities. The car is added to the building description and that car's items become available. When that car is used up another identical car can be found again, until someone does the building has no items to find. And I don't think the search percentages are high, they're exactly equal to the corresponding resource buildings. --Jon Pyre 07:49, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Ah, so basically, I just have to keep searching and all 4 cars will all, eventually, be available at the same time? And what "uses a car up?" You never answered THAT.--Pesatyel 02:50, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
  3. Kill - While this is a very interesting suggestion, I think your search percentages make it no-where near worth the trouble of finding a useful boxcar of supplies. Maybe it could be resubmitted with the outside (Malton) "powers that be" shipping in boxcars filled supplies, along the lines of your supply types, at random intervals -- boxy T L PA DA 10:31, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  4. Kill Mainly because I have always interpreted the Railstations as people movers, not cargo movers. i.e. Tube Stations or Subway Stations (depending on where you are in the world). Conndrakamod TDHPD CFT 13:15, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  5. Kill - Interesting idea... but too complicated. Also, all the spam votes are right. Why bother with finding a random "boxcar" when you can just free run into a mall and get the "boxcar" you want. Also would make rail-stations a mild target which isn't that good for newbies. --Sekoku 13:32, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  6. Kill - Interesting idea, I have to admit, but how would ransacking a building be able to move a boxcar? Furthermore, how is a survivor able to move the boxcar there in the first place? There is nothing mentioning power being required, so what do they do, push it? --Reaper with no name TJ! 15:26, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  7. kill the game flavor already says that the cars are all gone. Asheets 16:24, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  8. Kill - I like it, but I'm not seeing a few details here and there. IE. Does ransack lose your boxcar? --Rgon 17:12, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  9. Kill - percentages too high. This sounds like an end run around having lost malls. --Nosimplehiway--Nosimplehiway 18:52, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  10. Kill- Percentages are a bit too high, and a better skill name is needed.--Grigori 22:30, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  11. Nuke because it's so high-powered. Interesting idea, and maybe rail-stations could play into an "Underworld" element of the game should Kevan ever insert one...but to quote Edna Mode, "Too much, darling, too much!" Daniel Hicken
  12. Kill - what Daniel said--Wbleak24 08:33, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - We don't need another place where you can find everything in the game.--Gage 07:03, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Re However unlike a mall or fort this only takes on the aspect of one kind of resource building at a time. It's unpredicatable and would have an interest effect on gameplay. A group of survivors holing up in one might survive while their shipment of FAKs holds. Then it might dry up and they'd next find radios, which wouldn't help them and they'd get wiped out. --Jon Pyre 07:07, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
If by "interesting" you really mean "overpowered" then I agree.--Gage 07:16, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  2. Spam - This should be suggested for Malls, not Railway Stations. Cyberbob  Talk  07:06, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Re If you think it has enough merit to suggest a change why are you voting spam? To your idea, I think that would make malls too weak. It's already been proven that any mall can be taken down as soon as a savvy horde shows up. --Jon Pyre 07:08, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Re - I'm voting Spam because I was kidding. This suggestion needs to go. Cyberbob  Talk  07:13, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Re If you were near a mall. And if it wasn't ransacked. Malls are great but they're also high profile targets and take very large numbers to maintain. And just curious...did you all get IMd and brought here together? Because this is a lot of spam votes, heck, just votes in general, in a pretty short time.--Jon Pyre 07:35, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Re-Re Yes.... we are all sitting in the Nexus War Chat Server... in the #Resensitized room just yakking how much your suggestion sucks... geesh.. diva much?--THE Godfather of Яesensitized, Anime Sucks Yalk | W! U! WMM| CC CPFOAS DORISFlag.jpg LOE ZHU | Яezzens 07:46, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
  4. Spam - It is just very poorly thought out, and it wouldn't apply very well to railway stations. Seriously...--Absolution 07:29, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

A considered PKing deterrent

Removed by the suggester due to pejorative spamination by idiots. Comments telling me to "suck it up and grow a pair" are hardly constructive criticism, no? Perhaps more of you should pull heads out of backsides and contribute to the discussion page once in a while, where this has been sat for almost a fortnight. My thanks to everyone who actually did look at the discussion and left comments, either positive or negative --Panserbjørn 18:18, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Daily Suicides Count (Edit)

Timestamp: MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 19:58, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Type: A significant game stat
Scope: How many suicides were committed, in game, today...
Description: Along with the regular current game statistics, I propose: Daily Suicide Count: X Where X is the total number of suicides (jumping off buildings, and dying) that occurred today.

Technical Hoohah:

  • The only "suicides" that count is when a living survivor, jumps off a building and dies. Whether they stand up or not, they still count as a suicide for that game day.
  • It is possible for a living survivor to commit more than 1 suicide per day (suicides, revived, suicides, etc.) Each of these suicides still count towards the daily total, as it is harder to pull off anyways (someone else has to revive you!)

Why?

Aren't you at least a bit curious how many of these have happened, in game, lately?

Contacts List Change

Timestamp: Canuhearmenow Hunt! 20:41, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Type: Contacts list change.
Scope: easier Identification.
Description: This would add the ability to put a color code for a groups on the contacts list page, what I mean is this; You type in the group name in a new "add Group" box on the contacts page (Taking in note if someone would upper-case this, abbreviate that, etc.) and you can then choose colors for that group to be represented, so lets say I wrote "Roftwood Assault Force" as a group, and chose the color Blue, then whenever I encounter a person with the name "Roftwood Assault Force" in their Group affiliation box they're name would be in Blue. This would be a valuable edition for those who want to find an ally that they've never met before from a mob of people.

  8. Keep - I fear this might be used for evil... Nevertheless, evil already exists and there's nothing we can do about it anyway. I want to add a note that the individual contacts system should take coloring (fine... colouring) priority over the group contacts system (so you can identify imposters who put your group in their profile). --Wikidead 01:01, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
