Mapping

I added the Southeastern corner or the suburb to the big map on the bottom of the page. "location3321" should be "St Alban's Church", but I can't get it to appear for some reason. I'm a complete n00b at editing, so I don't have the slightest idea if I did something wrong.

There was a typo in the map template, only for location3321. :) Fixed it, now St Alban's shows up OK. --Tybalt Peroni 08:54, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Can we delete the extra maps now? --Angusburger 10:12, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

I've updated the maps based on Duke's master, and changed the links for locations that would redirect to like-named ones in Malton (see topic below). I've also totalled the numbers of resource buildings. This map will probably be overwritten but hell, we're pretty much complete for now --- long enough for my group to plan some movements.
I believe that the extra maps will sink into the swamp of archives as the months roll on. If not, someone with more savvy than I can edit the main page and shift them to Talk. --Frohlicker 06:14, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

--New 22x33 map.--

It definately 22 across by 33 down, managed to tie all the screenshots together and I have personally comfirmed the SW corner. If someone could get a grid up I could fill out the northern, southern and western borders. ~ alphastarre 29th oct 5pm

I added a swath of blocks in the southwest to south-central part of the suburb. Any errors are mine. Hopefully someone can build off those to confirm the other borders. --- Frohlicker 11:29 CST, 29 October 2008
I noticed that Grimley Terrace Police Station is mentioned under "Police Stations" but it is not shown on the map. It is located 1 block north of Trick Walk Police Station and also there is a Davie Way Police Station 1 block south-west of the Harwarth Monument. --- Cyrus Hanley 15:36, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Until Duke Garland's map is more complete, this is the best we've got for Central Borehamwood. The southern portions jibe with what I and others have seen but the north is unconfirmed. Anyone with more info, please edit away. I encourage people to add to it, but Duke's confirmed map with iwitness screenshots is the best way to go. If you're walking around, take some screenshots and update his map. Read this thread to learn how to help the mapping process. --- Frohlicker 18:15 CST, 01 November 2008

Naming whilst mapping

By and large there will be no location pages for individual locations (that is specific named places rather than generic buildings such as "a factory") in Borehamwood yet.

If our intrepid mappers could please check their links after they update their entries, if their link is blue (i.e. live) then chances are that it's a name already used by a place in Malton. As per wiki naming conventions the link should be altered.

For example, The Shiel Building is in both Malton and West Borehamwood.

The link [[The Shiel Building]] directs a user to The Shiel Building in Malton.

The Borehamwood link should be rendered as [[The Shiel Building (Borehamwood)|The Shiel Building]] which will be a red (i.e. dead) link until the page is created, for example The Shiel Building.

In time disambiguation pages will need to be made to allow users to find the two locations from one search, and utilising these naming conventions now will allow us to find them easier to perform these tasks.

Doing this helps the newbies find where there are, especially players who have come aboard with this new promotion and may not yet be familiar with Malton.

Cross posting this to all Borehamwood suburb talk pages so that everyone sees it.

Cheers. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 11:09, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
