Talk:Central Malton

Trying to start more general articles, but I need help getting this to be what it should. If anyone is good at map boxes, one showing the sixteen suburbs mentioned and with the four innermost suburbs outlined would be most appreciated to see. Though it will take some work, I'll try to keep it concurrent to the one on the main suburbs page. Lastly, if anyone could make this a sub-category under suburbs, with the sixteen listed within it, I'd love you for it. I'm not good at this stuff really, but I'm doing the best I can.--Insomniac By Choice 18:53, 25 Oct 2005 (BST)

I suppose I could help with a template of sorts, but first I'd need a clearer idea of what you're going for. What exactly do you want in it, and what kind of look are you going for? With 16 suburbs a right aligned map box may be too big, at least if you intend to have all the suburbs' names in it, a top or bottom aligned one might work better, but it would somewhat interrupt the flow of the article. --Raelin 19:12, 25 Oct 2005 (BST)
Right. I was thinking like a miniature version of the suburb page. It would probably work best at the top, because then the description of it would no longer be necessary. Or maybe a short definition above it, the sixteen suburbs, followed by everything else. Of course I'll take anything, really.--Insomniac By Choice 19:36, 25 Oct 2005 (BST)
I've edited the suburb mapbox a little, and here's what i've got so far. It might be able to work as a right aligned box, but it is still a little big. Is this kind of what you're looking for? --Raelin 20:47, 25 Oct 2005 (BST)
It is a little too big as a side box, but that's fine (though the second and third columns are a bit wide). A lot of text is going to be under the "known groups" and "important buildings" headings within the box, so even if it was half the size, it would still have to be pretty large to have them.--Insomniac By Choice 21:41, 25 Oct 2005 (BST)
The second and third colums are stretched due to the text within them not having line breaks, should be fine once you put actual suburb names in. I'll remove the right alignment and see what I can do about making it more friendly to a horizontal orientation. --Raelin 22:09, 25 Oct 2005 (BST)
Ok, some slight improvements, but still doesn't look quite how it should. This is the general idea of how it's going to look, but the way it looks right now bothers me, so I'm going to see about fixing it up a little. --Raelin 04:33, 26 Oct 2005 (BST)
Thanks, that looks great. Of course only now do I realize that "Greater Central Malton" is a slightly eastern-skewed phenomenon. Stupid of me, but hey, no one else will notice/care so it's all right.
You're quite welcome. I'm pretty sure that is the exact center though. It looks a little skewed on the suburb map, but I think that's because the suburb names stretch some of the cells. --Raelin 07:52, 29 Oct 2005 (BST)
No, I mean the zombie activity. I was looking at the suburb page when developing this, and that's what threw me off. You've made the center of the map just fine, but zombie groups and activity are slightly eastern in relation to the center. It's not especially important, but some of the suburbs and groups mentioned are no only marginally within the bounds of the idea of Central Malton. Which is a pity.--Insomniac By Choice 12:13, 29 Oct 2005 (BST)
Ah, I see. Well the it's quite easy to shift the map to the left a little, if you feel the need to change it over. --Raelin 19:41, 29 Oct 2005 (BST)

The box looks great! (I don't have anything important to say, but I wanted to congratulate you both on your work) Shadowstar 16:53, 31 Oct 2005 (GMT)
