Motion to move aristocrat immediately into the implementation phase as it is clearly the best skill ever to be developed. BeefStew 13:29, 23 Sep 2005 (BST)

Motion Seconded. It's pure genius. Catriona McM 15:36, 26 Dec 2005 (GMT)
I gotta admit, It's one of the more amusing things I've read today. Good work! -- Odd Starter 14:47, 23 Sep 2005 (BST)

I know I didn't follow the procedure here, but it's ninjas and pirates, ffs! --Daranz-Talk 13:43, 23 Sep 2005 (BST)

Indignant Outcry ... brilliant. --Monohymn 14:53, 23 Sep 2005 (BST)

This is quite possibly the second best page in this entire wiki. I demand like 20 links to this page sprinkled all over the front page. --Radoteur 08:55, 29 Sep 2005 (BST)

'Humorous_Suggestions

For amusing suggestions that would normally get thrown into Peer Rejected, but are fun to read'

Oh, the bitter irony -- Andrew McM 10:43, 6 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Edited the first section to resort the items out from the skills. Hope noone minds. Also, this page is the win.--Arathen 23:15, 30 Sep 2005 (BST)

Man, that farms and farm animals suggestion had me rolling, I swear. That Vladmyre guy should get something for doing something like that, man!-Vladmyre 18:05, 30 Nov 2005 (GMT)

I find it massively entertaining that half of these suggestions are much better balanced than half the stuff on the real page.--'STER 23:07, 4 Dec 2005 (GMT)

  • Ain't that always the way? -- Tabs 19:44, 9 Dec 2005 (GMT)

"Ray of Bradbury?" That is a truly awful pun. I mean that in a good way.--'STER-Talk-Mod 21:04, 16 Dec 2005 (GMT)

The "Chinese" section should be removed. It is offensive, racist, and an embarassment to the UD community. What if there were a section on black people wherein they eat watermelon or pick cotton? Or maybe Jews that cheat people out of money? Muslims who blow up people? I don't think any of those things are humorous either. Can anyone honestly defend this section? I invite you to try. Otherwise, I will delete this section. --Shaolinzombie 08:32, 19 Dec 2005 (GMT)

  • I'd laugh if there was, just the same as I'd laugh if there was a section for Overpatriotic American or History Revising German. -- Tabby 17:40, 19 Dec 2005 (GMT)
    • I will get to work on some additions. --Shaolinzombie 00:04, 21 Dec 2005 (GMT)
  • Although I'm not really jewish since no one in my immediate family goes to synagog or anything like that, neither I nor any of my jewish friends would be offended by something that's clearly just a joke. I can't speak for the asian community of course, but it seems that removing that section is just being prudish and overly sensitive. --Cereal Box Conspiracy 03:21, 20 Dec 2005 (GMT)
    • I will add some "jokes", then. --Shaolinzombie 00:04, 21 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Im Chinese and im not offended. AllStarZ 00:16, 21 Dec 2005 (GMT)

  • While I think NONE of it is particularly funny, I don't think all of it is offensive. The main ones that I think are uncool are the stinginess and dry cleaning. Those are pretty bad stereotypes. Maybe you are not aware of the Abercrombie & Fitch shirts that came out a few years ago with squinty eyed Chinese running a laundry. That shit is just stupid.--Shaolinzombie 02:37, 21 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Stereotypes are stereotypes. They exist, and anyone with a brain knows they aren't actually true. You don't just pretend the stereotypes aren't there, and if someone wants to make a joke with them why not?--'STER-Talk-Mod 19:24, 21 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I hate to say it, but this page is slowly going to hell. Some of these aren't funny, just stupid. IE: Pict. At least spellcheck, folks.--Arathen 02:12, 22 Dec 2005 (GMT)

  • I agree Arathen. Many are not funny and the more offensive ones should be deleted. But Super Zombie Hunter makes up for them all. --Jon Pyre 01:08, 23 Dec 2005 (GMT)
"This page is slowly going to hell"? Haha. Hardly. Humor is in the eye of the beholder, my dear. I have yet to see anything unfunny on this page. -- Tabby 14:24, 28 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Well, I'd agree with you except for the bits of the Chinese skill set that were specifically posted to be racist and unfunny. The Vote Gun is hilarious.--'STER-Talk-Mod 15:12, 28 Dec 2005 (GMT)
The newest chinese additions just hit my limit. I removed most of them. AllStarZ 17:28, 29 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Touchy much? They're not there for serious, they're there for funny. Those particular ones weren't even there for funny, just becsuse of someone else who was getting uptight about the chinese section, but that's beside the point. If you're not entertained, don't read the page.--'STER-Talk-Mod 20:07, 30 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I still think that whoever that Vladmyre guy is, he should get some sort of award for making the oddly funny farm animals suggestion. It is truly unique, and the humor comes from the fact that it is presented like it could be an actual idea. Friggin' Brilliant.-Vladmyre 12:30, 3 Jan 2006 (GMT)

This page looks MUCH better now that it's been cleaned a bit.--Arathen 22:45, 5 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Now, which suggestion do you want to be double sprayed, or single sprayed?

Barricade of Doorknobs=hilarious. If they can't open doors, it's the logical conclusion...--'STER-Talk-Mod 19:16, 8 Jan 2006 (GMT)

MUST. AVOID. TEMPTATION. TO REVIVE. SPAM-B-GONE. AGGH... AllStarZ 22:11, 15 Feb 2006 (GMT)

I've got the syringe waiting. --Arcos 06:32, 18 February 2006 (GMT)

You know, we should have some kind of message we can put so that they know their suggesion has been tagged by Spam-B-Gone. Like a 16 point, red lettered "Your Suggestion is a Failure." --Arcos 16:51, 22 February 2006 (GMT)

Everyone, please keep an eye on this page, 343 has come into the habit of changing suggestions. I've already told him that if he does it again, he will be reported; so keep an eye out okay? --Arcos 17:00, 19 March 2006 (GMT)

Just like to say that The "Everyone Hates Chavs" thing made me laugh like nothing else on the 'net today. Good job. Lancensis 00:35, 2 April 2006 (BST)

Thanks, good to know that someone liked it. -Lord of the Pies 10:32, 3 April 2006 (BST)

((These following three were taken from the Journalist suggestion section--keep your comments on the talk page like you're supposed to.))--Tabby 20:03, 6 April 2006 (BST)

  • Um this isn't exactly funny Must I repeat myself?

-Point Taken. Hope whoever started this suggestion gets the message too.

  • Well if it's any consolation, I found it terribly witty - my favourite Humourous entry. -Saffron

Time for a cleanup?

This humorous page is a mess. I just cleared some jokes that were erased by other users, but still is a mess. I am thinking about creating some kind of template to post humorous suggestions. Some kind of 'rate this thing' could be worked out, so the funnier jokes could be on the top of the page, something like bash.org. --hagnat talk 00:55, 7 April 2006 (BST)

I created a template and fixed most (90%) of all suggestions in it. The current template suck, still have to be tweaked in order to improve Fun Factor while using this page. At least the boring work of migrating the old suggestions to a template is already done... fixing its layout only remains --hagnat talk 02:56, 7 April 2006 (BST)
Or you could talk about it on the suggestion's talk page and have your changes actually mean something other then possible vandalism. Velkrin 03:44, 7 April 2006 (BST)
A good faith edit is not vandalism. Please, dont say people are vandalizing this and that every time you see some major change in a page. --hagnat talk 03:47, 7 April 2006 (BST)
Well, you're making major changes and suggesting changes to a page which is considered to be a part of the Suggestions page, and discussing it on a talk page which gets less attention then the Suburbs talk page. Velkrin 05:02, 9 April 2006 (BST)

The Tally

in the template i created for the Humorous Suggestions i added a tally variable. This tally is supposed to be the number of votes who think a particular joke is funny minus those who think it isnt. Whenever a joke reached -10, it could be erased from the humorous page, or be sent here for voting if we should or shouldnt erase it. --hagnat talk 03:13, 7 April 2006 (BST)

An example of how it works is a good idea. I shall provide one for approval.

===Example===

Type: Example
Tally: --1

Provides useful information to people who read it. Invisible to newbies.

Funny votes: Best idea ever! Some Guy March 12:00 1 March, 2006 (GMT)
Unfunny votes: Some Evil Twin 08:18, 24 April 2006 (BST), Example Guy March 23:59 20 December, 2006 (GMT)

Now the question is, should the votes be separated by commas, or by lines (as in line breaks)? Velkrin 08:18, 24 April 2006 (BST)

I'd say with line breaks, like on the main suggestions page. Also, this suggestion is easily one of the funniest I've seen lately. --Arcos 00:02, 25 April 2006 (BST)
Well with no objections...GO GO GOOD FAITH EDIT! With lines breaks. Velkrin 00:03, 2 May 2006 (BST) Edit: Issues with Template, Wiki out to get me. Added the part about the -10 removal. 00:11, 2 May 2006 (BST)

Change to Humorous Suggestions Template?

Shouldn't the Humorous Suggestions get the same template a regular suggestions as it's nearly inpossible to read the comments made by some people who vote on these suggestions. These suggestions are almost pure gold, they are all funny and deserve to have their comments read.

I think the problem is that they're trying to restrict the length of the page.--The General W! Mod 22:40, 30 April 2006 (BST)
Well why not archive the humorous suggestions by either the type of suggestion or by the date it was made? That'd cut down page length and would organise it a bit. Krazy Monkey 15:15, 1 May 2006 (BST)
Good idea.--The General W! Mod 19:35, 1 May 2006 (BST)
As I've said before, you only really need 3 types: Satire, Humor(ous), and Misc. I definitely think the numbering system would be a good idea. Velkrin 00:10, 2 May 2006 (BST)
What you could do is make 3 separate pages called Satire, Humor(ous) and Misc. That way everything is sorted and the suggestions aren't in a huge big long clump. --Krazy Monkey 16:33, 2 May 2006 (BST)
The whole humorous suggestions thing needs to be either thrown out or heavily reworked. The system as it is can only be described as "asinine". –Xoid STFU! 03:09, 18 May 2006 (BST)
Definetely. We cant get rid of them as most are completely original and funny. You could archive them like the serious suggestions into different categories depending on either the date they were made or the type they are. --Krazy Monkey 13:44, 20 May 2006 (BST)

Proposed change

Basically, Humorous Suggestions is a mess. Half the suggestions don't use the appropriate template, there is no consistency in how votes are written, tallies are off all over the place, and it's littered with old suggestions that haven't been voted down. This is a shame, because some of the suggestions there are quite funny, and it would be a good place for people to read some hilarious ideas, or even get inspiration for more serious ideas.

I propose some simple changes to clean the page up and encourage people to write new humorous suggestions:

  • Suggestions that have received a tally of +10 will be moved to a new page, Accepted Humorous Suggestions, for archiving.
  • Suggestions that have not received a tally of either -10 or +10 after one month will be removed, just as suggestions that reach -10 are now (in theory).
  • The humorous suggestions template is rather ugly. A new one should be created that allows voting in the same style as the normal Suggestions page does now. The new template should also have a timestamp for when the suggestion was added.

If people like this idea, I would be willing to do the (initial) reorganization. Thoughts? –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 01:43, 5 June 2006 (BST)

Proceeding with moderator approval. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 02:10, 5 June 2006 (BST)

Question

Is there some way to make the TOC nicer with the template? The template runs into the TOC in fire fox and looks really horrible. - Jedaz - 22:39/25/04/2024 09:04, 18 September 2006 (BST)

Main Humourous Suggestions Page=Dicked up

WEll, I just swung by to see if there were any new humourous suggestions only to see that somebody has dicked up the paged pretty badly. I would help out, but last time I tried something with it, it got a sploded. Just sayin' is all. --Mnbvcx 20:59, 28 September 2006 (BST)
