Talk:Independent

Proposed text, should this not be deleted:

The Independent page was created as a joke. Obviously, no such group, confirmed or otherwise, exists in Malton. The use of "Independent" as a group affiliation indicates not that the character is part of a group named "independent", but that they have declared themselves independent of all groups.

This will actually contain information, and not just humor. Information is the point of a wiki. Creating humorous pages under the guise of real ones is not. --LouisB3 04:29, 12 Dec 2005 (GMT) Edit: yup, proposal withdrawn. --LouisB3 01:57, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I'd be okay with something along the lines of the third sentence being added to the article as the top-of-page NPOV. The rest of the page should be left as-is. I'm definitely not in favor of the first sentence, which refers to the article itself as a joke. --Chester Katz 05:31, 12 Dec 2005 (GMT)
It is a joke, but it's a very well-received one. And with 72 people claiming "Independent" as their group affiliation, it should definitely be left up. Slicer 00:52, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Uh, it's pretty obvious that by posting Independent as their group affiliation, they are, in fact, claiming independence from any group! Unless this page is going to have some useful information on the behavior or rationale of Independents, well, discuss it on Moderation/Deletions. --LouisB3 01:44, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)

So far 24 Keeps vs. 1 Delete on that page... --Matthew-Stewart 01:47, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Wasn't that Delete from the deletion starter? --ALIENwolve 01:49, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Yeah, not any more. I'm not willing to defend a minor matter from a bunch of people apparently willing to die for their humor. Just disregard everything I've said in favor of deleting this page - I only plan to clean it up a bit once its been Kept. --LouisB3 01:57, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Making fun of people (the people who spelled Independant) by holding up people who could actually spell as a good example helped people know how to spell it correctly. Not a huge deal but enough to merit a few key strokes of Keep in its defense. Sometimes I am in a bad mood and don't appreciate humor either, but things have been going well for me lately. I wish you well, LouisB3. --Matthew-Stewart 02:09, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Hah - the game stats page no longer links here. --LouisB3 22:28, 19 Dec 2005 (GMT)
