Old Discussion

This barriacde plan picture is Xbox-huge, and having to read the small text inside each box makes it difficult to find entry points. May I please replace this map with something smaller and using colour-codes for the barricade levels instead of dark-blue-on-dark-grey text? --Mozai 16:03, 12 October 2007 (BST)

Biggest problem with the plan is that it doesn't seem to be followed in the NW corner. I was just there (as a low-level character) and everything is EHB, most notably the Auto Shop and Dempsey Grove Police Department. No Zeds in the neighborhood; so there should be any reason to over 'cade.--Timmyw 02:35, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

The plan needs rethinking now that the suburb is under attack, only a few (5-10) entry points are needed, rather than most of the suburb. I suggest the Amis Building [61,55], Forward Cinema [65,57], the Nicks Arms [68, 58], the Wotton Building [69, 54], Quartly Library [66,52], Wadham Library [63, 51] and The Summer Building [64,55]. Everything else should be EHB --Blue sam3 15:27, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

I would agree that there are a bizarre number of unnecessarily VSB buildings in this suburb, far too many and it makes buildings too easy to take. However, some of the PDs need to remain VSB for low level survivors to get back into and restock ammo. --McWaffle 20:48, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
I also support a change of the BP towards a higher level of UBP-compliance, starting with a higher number of EHB buildings.
My concept is to have any Police Department, Firestation and Hospital at VSB in order to provide non-freerunners with the most important items that are required to level: FAKs, guns and fireaxes. Other TRPs should be EHB.
Additional VSB buildings may be needed as entry points (EPs), or - in rare occasions - as VSB safehouses that are low-profile targets and as such give the opportunity for non-freerunners to sleep safely after using nearby VSB TRPs (which are usually higher-profile targets).
Here is what I suggest:
[64,50] Witherington Auto Repair: VSB -> EHB (TRP)
[65,50] Neal Cinema: VSB -> EHB (EP east)
[67,50] a factory: VSB -> EHB (TRP)
[69,50] Pratley Road Police Dept: EHB -> VSB (PDs should be VSB, most PDs, esp. those in other suburbs, more than 5 blocks away)
[63,51] Wadham Library: EHB -> VSB (new EP to make up for the 2 new EHBs north)
[68,51] Chinnock Auto Repair: VSB -> EHB (TRP)
[65,52] the Kirkby Building: VSB -> EHB (why NOT EHB?)
[69,52] the Pendell Arms: VSB -> EHB (EP north)
[63,55] a factory: VSB -> EHB (TRP)
[69,55] Vivian Cinema: VSB -> EHB (EP north)
[68,56] Rawlins Row Police Dept: EHB -> VSB (new EP to make up for the 3 new EHBs 1NE (Vivian), 1SE (Kirkland) and 1S (factory). PDs should be VSB anyway.)
[68,57] a factory: VSB -> EHB (EP west, new EP north)
[69,57] the Kirkland Arms: VSB -> EHB (EP south, new EP 1NW)
[64,58] Culling Auto Repair: VSB -> EHB (TRP)
[66,58] a factory: VSB -> EHB (TRP)
[67,58] St Arnold's Church: VSB -> EHB (EP north)
[68,58] the Nicks Arms: VSB -> EHB (EP east)
[62,59] Mist Cinema: VSB -> EHB (EPs 1NE and south)
[65,59] Crooker Bank: VSB -> EHB (EP 1SE)
With all suggestions implemented, there would be 37 EHB and 18 VSB buildings, which was just enough EHB for UBP compliance (EHB:VSB should be between 3:1 and 2:1, is currently less than 0,8:1 and would just become 2:1).
With so many changes, a picture might help to present the result more clearly:

Proposed Changes

Greetings. I come as an emissary from Malton Medical Staff (though not in any official capacity) requesting a change in the barricade plan. With roftwood being such a dangerous place, prone to large hordes and TRP sieges, we simply have not been able to keep our hospitals (Eligius and St. Ethelbert's) as low as VSB without serious risk; I propose changing the Copeland Building to VSB (being a useless office), and Eligius and St. Ethelbert's to EHB (Eligius is VSB PD adjacent), which would allow the hospitals to stay at siege-readiness as much as possible. This would also have the bonus of allowing you to change Pratley Road PD to EHB for the same reason if you so desire; though we at MMS really don't use it or have any preference either way.

If no one responds to this in a week I shall make the proposed changes myself and invite any who disagree to revert them afterwards. Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 19:20, 6 September 2009 (BST)

Lelouch's changes were not evident until today because the Roftwood article was including Template:Roftwood_Barricade_Plan, and Lelouch had edited the (prior to his change, identical) Template:RoftwoodBarricadePlan. I've changed the article to refer to the one he'd edited, and now his changes are evident. Please only edit the one now referred to by the article from now on. UBP compliance

Does anyone here actually care that this template doesn't fit in with the Uniform Barricade Plan's concept of an ideal suburb? Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 20:25, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Implementing ruins as entry points?

All right, so we all know that Roftwood is a dangerous place, and isn't exactly the kind of suburb you want to sit around behind VSB barricades in. This frequently leads to over-barricading and a conspicuous lack of entry points throughout the suburb, and it's starting to become a problem.

The solution I propose is thus: why not pick a few strategically useless buildings that have no meaningful supplies and no free-running importance to be permanent ruins? That would make it harder for people to over-barricade them, and we might even have zombies sitting around holding said ruins because they want to prevent us from "taking back" the building.

Thoughts? Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 18:43, 15 May 2010 (BST)

All right, I've come up with an alternate barricade plan that will provide maximum suburb safety, ensure that an EP is always within 2 AP, AND be secure enough to violate "ubp compliance" standards.

Does ANYONE, for ANY REASON, care in the slightest if I make these incredibly radical and un-discussed changes to the barricade plan? It feels wrong to be doing this solo. Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 03:46, 22 May 2010 (BST)
Well, it looks like no one cares. I guess there's nothing left for me to do but switch the plan and offer to revert if anyone comes forward with objections. Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 19:42, 26 May 2010 (BST)
Looks good. Id suggest having darks as ruined EP's less likely to be repaired. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:44, 26 May 2010 (BST)
You know, I really wanted to do that, but if you'll check their placement, you'll find that all of the darks are in important, one-path free running lanes. The one below Herbert functions as such when the mall is ruined. Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 23:26, 26 May 2010 (BST)

St. Ethelbert's a VSB hosptial?

We're seeing more newbies in Roftwood than we have for a while, and I believe that it would be in the suburb's best interest to make this hospital VSB-max. Does anyone have any thoughts or objections on this matter? Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 17:09, 10 August 2010 (BST)
