[edit] Delays
OK, i use the Rogues alot (with a diff nick than this obviously) and i've noticed that the Bounty Reports that are filed get added in extremely quickly (as in a few days at most). Whereas the Pk reports are way way way way way lagged..... There are reports on there over 3 weeks old that have yet to be filed.
I see the mods have time to skim through and leave comments on reports, and in some cases added a pk report that is only a few days old, so i gotta ask... Do you guys just file your favs quickly? Do you have a bunch of mods who don't want to do their job? or what???
Sorry, but its quiet frustrating when you have some a-hole killing you every day and you have to wait for the pk reports to be filed so the person gets a bounty...
[edit] Suggestion for Dispute
Have you considered adding a section to the RG database that allows for "Dispute?" Where those accused can input the mitigating circumstances of a given death and the community can judge for itself? The Rogues Gallery seems to be accurate at reporting only one thing: A death of one player at the hands of another player. The 'evidence' of a screen shot proves nothing more than that. Given multiple kills, the community can read the screenshots and judge for themselves after a certain point, but wouldn't it also be good to allow the accused some space in the database to defend themselves?
Currently, your process is to appeal on your message board. Then a moderator asks for evidence of the counter-claim - and unless you are a screen-shot happy lawyeristic player, there usually will not be evidence of the contrary evidence. So no logical argument is accepted in this case. There is no jury of your peers, no reasoned judge with the ability to interpret law. There are moderators enforcing policies - akin to cops on the beat.
I say add a spot to the database where the accused can state his case, with or without evidence, and let the community decide. If a bounty hunter sees that an accused PK'er has taken the time and effort to defend his actions, he may skip to a target with less ambiguity. Or maybe not - but at least there is a bit more balance and justice. This spot would come up in the primary view as a clickable "DISPUTED" cell. The user could then click on the word "DISPUTED" just as they can click on the "DETAILS" currently.
Anyway, given my own experiences with false accusations on the RG, I will certainly treat it with much greater skepticism going forward. It's really not much more reliable than some jackass spouting off on the radio or spraypainting on a building that so-and-so is a PK'er.--Squid Boy 13:24, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
I agree. My survivor alt killed a death cultist by the name of feral undead clam and was reported for it.I don't know how to take screenshots or use the forums, but I looked at the screenshot and it was barely legible. This brings me to my questions about the RG:Why can somebody be reported for killing a zed spy/death cultist/Pker/Gker?Why are terrible screenshots accepted and allowed as evidence?Has the RG become completely unreliable? Can people just fake a screenshot of being pked by a person they hate? Why can't we dispute claims? Why are Bounty Hunters being reported just for doing their job?Has bounty hunting become just an excuse for pking? Why can people be reported for killing a pker in self-defense?Why are people ignoring all there reasons and excuses and just reporting them? Why are people targeted because they killed zeds at a cemetery or revive point? What about pking wars bewtween groups? What about people lwho kill spammers saying disturbing and abusive things? The RG NEEDS to be improved.--Gamestriker4 18:35, 17 July 2008 (BST)
- There is actually a description section of the RG for each entry that allows for the RG mods to add something like "Disputed". In fact if you want to actually do a bit of research on a target listed on the RG you can actually do that. Explore the RG a little big instead of complaining and you'd see that these features are already part of it. As for your other complaints the RG is like any other bounty list that has ever been made in the game. In that it is ran by people who do all this work in their spare time.--Kristi of the Dead 05:03, 19 July 2008 (BST)
