Iwitness scent death maps

If you are unable to use the udSIMsniff greasemonky script but want to help update the map, simply post a link to an iwitness record of your scent death page right here. A member will (if it is suffciently current) run it through the script for you.

Optimizing Coverage

After a bit of experimentation, I've found what I think is the optimal method of coverage. It combines a few simple rules.

  • Aim to cover a whole suburb with a sniff. An easy way to do this is move to a square that has x and y co-ordinates that end in 5's. Covering full suburbs minimizes overlap with other sniffers, quirky little "dead zones", and other stuff that wastes effort / looks ugly.
  • When moving between locations above, always move on the DIAGONAL, even if heading for a suburb that is directly N/S/E/W. Stop at the "corner block" (the one with co-ordinates that end in 0's) and do a sniff, and then continue on to where you were going. This one extra AP spent sniffing at the "corner block" while moving from suburb to suburb results in 50% more coverage per sniffer, and can combine to cover suburbs that nobody actually visited!

Obviously not all sniffers are going to be this regimented, but the general principle of always moving diagonally, stopping ever 5 (or 6) blocks and doing a sniff, and "zig-zagging" when moving long distances in a single cardinal direction seems to give the greatest coverage for the fewest APs. Profile(s) - Provide links to the characters you wish to dedicate to the job of providing NecroNet scans for NecroWatch. You are not limited to just one character, obviously, so long as your alts are not working together or within close proximity. But that just goes without saying.
Group Affiliation - Feel free to plug the group(s) associated with your character(s). I fully support shameless advertising.
Suburbs(s) - List the suburb(s) you plan to cover, and how often.
