Minor Diagnosis Change

Timestamp: TheUncleBob 15:08, 10 September 2006 (BST)
Type: Skill Improvement
Scope: All Players
Description: Right now, when a user has the Diagnosis skill, the HP of survivors shows up the same when they're fully healed. It's minor, but when someone has 50 HP, you cannot tell if they're fully healed or if they have Body Building and could use another ten HP. I suggest that the HP of fully healed survivors show up in a different color after their name, perhaps grey. Second, Infected Survivor's HPs should show up in a different color as well, perhaps red. These two changes, to me, seem minor, but perhaps they could be a skill bought after Diagnosis ("Advanced Diagnosis") if they seem to powerful to others.

  • Howabout just eliminate numbers after survivors names if they're at full health? Then again, this would irritate me when I'm on a killing spree. I'm pretty sure UDTool changes the colour of survivors not at full health anyways, so this could be redundant. Karloth vois RR 15:37, 10 September 2006 (BST)
Not everyone uses UDTool, nor should they be required to.--Pesatyel 19:20, 10 September 2006 (BST)

Personally, I don't think it matters to much if Bob (50HP) could be Bob (60HP) because he has Body Building but is still down the 10 HP. You could ASK the person, but whatever. First of all, we have Show Current/Max HP to compensate for that.

  • Bob (50HP) would be (50/60HP).

There was also this suggestion which is similar. Secondly, another suggestion to remove the HP from the display.

  • Bob (50HP) would be Bob (50) or Bob (50/60).

And, finally, we have Prognosis to cover the infection part of your suggestion.

  • Bob (46HP) is infected, he would be Bob (46*) or Bob (46/56*).

Anything else?--Pesatyel 19:20, 10 September 2006 (BST)

Points taken. Asking people would be good, but then that's one AP down the drain (which if you wanted to waste the AP, you could just try to use a FAK on 'em) and you have to hope they're "awake"... and that they *want* to answer (if you're a Zombie looking for someone to attack). The Current/Max HP suggestion, I like, but it seems to me it would make the display even crowded. Perhaps we could have a thing along the lines of what the Map does in areas with a lot of suvivors - a place to click to show all survivor's HPs. It'd be an extra server hit though, so I could see how some wouldn't like it. I'm just throwing out ideas though. TheUncleBob 23:23, 10 September 2006 (BST)

Well, I'm just trying to lety ou know it has been done, so there really isn't a whole lot to add. The only other thing is that in one of the links about the (50/60), there was an addendum to do it as a %, thus:
  • Bob (50HP) would be Bob (100%) or, with Body Building Bob (83%).--Pesatyel 06:32, 11 September 2006 (BST)

Just discussing for now... TheUncleBob 15:08, 10 September 2006 (BST) You'd get a keep from me! After all it sucks missing out of XP cuz you don't know that dude has bodybuilding.. and again, it would suck dying of infection because people can't see you're infected (but man it's so obvious in the movies right!) I'd say put a red I to the right of any infected survivor.. and if they aren't healed up to full make their health # red if at full health # blue. Simple enough. (That way you just heal anyone who is red health # no matter how high or low it is..) MrAushvitz 01:07, 27 September 2006 (BST)

An easier way to find out this without spending an AP is to click on their name and check if they have Bodybuilding or not. Simple. Easy. Cheap. -Mark 16:51, 14 October 2006 (BST)

  • Unfortunatly, doing that would add to one's server hits. This doesn't effect me, since I only play one character, but we have to consider that there are others...TheUncleBob 23:46, 22 October 2006 (BST)
