Fort Defenses

Okay, so let's see. We were talking about shooting from inside a building, specifically the forts. At a low enough percentage, I think yes, it's doable. It has to subtract from everything though, and I think it can probably only work with a combination of one of the suggested skills from before. Or perhaps it would work without that, and there would be no way to tell if you were hitting or missing the zombies, or even if there were zombies out there. Zombie-lovers are going to say no no matter what, I think, btw. Just shooting out from within the fort without modifying stats would give the survivors a big advantage over zombies. Honestly, I think it would have to be the percentage to hit of a first level zombie or something to be fair with that... and if it's that low, would anyone do it? --Shadowstar 05:48, 19 Nov 2005 (GMT)

So far the best idea presented to balance it (from my point of view) has been a -5% to hit for each level of barricading (minimum of 5%). Zombie enthusiasts may want to have it killed simply because they feel it is unfair, however large hordes of zombies with Ankle Grab will not be excessively slowed. By my calculations, at extremely heavily barricaded, it should look as following:

  • Untrained 5% - 35% = 5% hit chance
  • Basic Firearms Training 30% - 35% = 5% hit chance
  • Pistol/Shotgun Training 55% - 35% = 20% hit chance
  • Advanced Pistol/Shotgun Training 65% - 35% = 30% hit chance

So basically, even the most skilled survivor will be shooting as if he/she were a newbie. This won't slow the hordes down that much and gives the survivors a better chance of holding off the zombies. Obviously a survivor army could keep the barricades lower to increase their ability to hit the foe, but this comes with its own inherent risks. --Kulatu 06:11, 19 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Currency

The author said he didn't necessarily mean survivors would be using cash; he suggested food as a possibility too. Some voters don't seem to realize that. I'd still vote kill, but I thought it was worth mentioning. X1M43 22:12, 19 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Expert Training

Is there a weapon that would have 100% to hit with this? If so, then it's a bad idea. I play a scientist and a zombie, so I'm not familiar with some of the attacks. --Dickie Fux 17:45, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

  • No, the guns currently max at 65% - and fireaxe at a measly 40%. So you're talking about 1000xp(!!) for an extra 10%. SchmuckyTheCat 21:11, 25 Nov 2005 (GMT)
