Page Layout

I may be able to assist in creating the page layouts for the malls if you need any. I did quite alot of work on the suburb pages a while ago so I may be of some use, that is, if I am needed. Pillsy FT 09:26, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Marven Mall

Has anyone noticed their current logo? The one splattered with blood? Would it be a good idea to have logos similar to that for when a mall is in zombie hands? Or is that a bad idea?--Pharo2i2 Barbraz Employee 00:13, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Some few have been made.--Karekmaps?! 00:24, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Logos in use

I was looking at the project page, and at the mall pages, and I noticed that almost none of the malls were actually using these incredible logos Hagnat has created. Seeing this, I decided to go through and put in the logos for every mall that had one, modeling the formatting after that used in Ackland and Bale's pages. Now, I know this probably wasn't my place. In fact looking back, it was a bit rash. But, this is a wiki, and the respective mall groups can always remove the logos if they don't like them. However, it does make the mall pages look much better than before. All Shall Bow 23:54, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

i never put all other logos in use because i didnt made all of them yet. i was just waiting for me to be inspired again to finish the reminaning 4~5 malls. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 22:18, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh, okay. I hope you don't mind. It'll probably help create awareness for the project, though.

A question

I'm not a photoshop regular, so don't count on me doing this, but if someone doesn't like the logo of a mall he's a regular customer (or not, it really doesn't matter), can he change it? It's not like Bale, Calvert or Pole Mall logos are very apealing for the people that constantly go there... --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 04:04, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Too bad? Hagnat worked hard on it and no one else did. He made it, it's his. You think people liked the shitty army pictures people used to put up everywhere? You think people liked the generator template? This at least looks nice. Bale and Calvert are two of the best. Pole is a little plain but what do you expect from a Mall with 3 corners? --Sir Sonny Corleone RRF CRF DORIS Hunt! 04:15, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Hey, ENOUGH WITH THE BAD TEMPERED RESPONSES. Now, I'm making an honest question. I sincerely respect the work that Hagnat has gone trough making so many images that look aesthetically pleasant and neutral, just how UD in general is, and just want to know what will happen if someone wants a different logo. Votation like Woodroffe? --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 04:18, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
No drama around here please... --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 04:22, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Sorry for my part of the fault. Now, it's there going to be votations or something like that if someone uploads a new candidate for logo, or yours are meant to be final? --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 04:25, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
No. Now stop being whiney. He's doing everyone a favor by doing this. You don't get to pick which ones you like or dislike. You get what you get since they're created to be original yet recognizable. --Sir Sonny Corleone RRF CRF DORIS Hunt! 04:35, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
I have made this project public to give people the chance to comment and know our work (i cant have sole credit on the images, since most of them were made after some hints from others, like sonny, gage, and several others in #mall_tour). I will not change the logos i already created, unless i note that people really didnt like it (a few complains will not make me change the lady bug in blesley, for example). If you have any idea for other logos, please, comment in this talk page. I'll hear everyone oppinion before working on them next weekend (yeah, i will prolly create more pics only next weekend). --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 04:45, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
we are working to create something new here, based on old stuff (the history of each mall). If you think something else could be used as a mall logo, please say so. All logos already created were made after some carefull study of what have happened there worthy to be honored in the logo, or some kind of weird link to its name. Pole mall, while simple, its the perfect logo. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 04:16, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

A Second Question

Will all the malls be given such nice logos? I know there are 20 malls (I think) in Malton, does this plan on uniting them all under this system? I really think this concept, especially about giving the malls all similar designs, will really make things look much more professional and appealing. Thanks for going into such detail to create all this for us! --Vikermac 00:37, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I'll create logos for all 20 malls. Perhaps i'll make on for the zoo too. In the end, all malls pags are to have a clean, simple and stylish look. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 03:20, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I prefered it with the white outline like the rest instead of the black. I thought it had a nice stylistic flow that matched the other malls. --Amanu Jaku 04:12, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

The new logo, with the black outline, shows the rose/tulip better then the white outline. While it doesnt match the other mall logos now, it was supposed to be special though, because of the importance caiger mall had in the entire history of the game. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 04:33, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Makes sense. I'd keep the other logo for use somewhere else then. --Amanu Jaku 04:44, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Wiki actually has a solution for us. It seems Hildebrand was a Scandinavian Armourer of legend.
Give the mall a vikings helm logo. Sir Fred of Etruria 04:23, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

He. I did found about that a few minutes ago too. I was already thinking about something related to that :) --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 04:34, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
I was thinking another possibility could be a sword, perhaps, as it's stated there Brand means Sword. --Nitro7Blazer 11:35, 16 October 2007 (BST)

Beyond logos

Are there any plans for projects besides the logos or map? Like, um...something involving writing? I'd be willing to help out with that, if you guys have any ambitions beyond logos (I'm no artist, so I can't help with logos or whatever). Lovely idea though.--Lachryma 04:14, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

I don't speak for hagnat but I think people have done enough writing on the wiki. It's time for pictures, for us illiterate types. --Sir Sonny Corleone RRF CRF DORIS Hunt! 04:16, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
I see your point...so this is, in essence, a project that is more then half way completed? Once the logos and maps are done, that's it? Or does Hagnat have some subtle plan up his sleeve?--Lachryma 04:19, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Once we are done with the logo and map, we will think on something more to be added into the project. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 04:20, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
I think we still need some writting skills. We will need to add some content, mostly based on the history of each mall (for this we will need to contact those who live in them) and create some fanfin linked with the logos created. Like, for example, one could write a few lines about Calvert and explain why a sail is the logo for that mall. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 04:20, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
What he said. He's the boss. I actually do nothing but give ideas and tell hagnat how cool he is. --Sir Sonny Corleone RRF CRF DORIS Hunt! 04:22, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
But yes, this project is mainly to add more images (cool images, mostly not copyrighted) into the malls pages. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 04:24, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Gotcha. I will patiently wait until the time is right then pounce on what needs to be done! ...Or something like that. An explanation for people unfamiliar with a mall's history would be an excellent idea though. Interesting. On a side note, I really like Ackland's logo and the reference to Bear Pit.--Lachryma 04:28, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Maps?

First of all, I love how you're actually doing some reading on the background in-game history of these Malls as suggestions for what the logo should be. Good foresight. But the map idea? The few sentences there don't really tell me what you're trying to do. Can you elaborate on the map idea? --MorthBabid 21:20, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

There will be a map of Malton with the Malls on it like the map of Germany with the cities. --Sir Sonny Corleone RRF CRF DORIS Hunt! 22:54, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
So it'll be more akin to our regular suburb map, except rather than being focused on individual suburbs and square-ish sections, it'll simply highlight the proper mall-related suburb and it's location? --MorthBabid 20:06, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
exactly. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 23:20, 3 April 2007 (BST)

Another designer?

Hey, I was wondering if you wanted another designer to help with making the logos or if you'll just prefer us to provide you with ideas. I sometimes like to think that I can create art =P I've got a link to my deviant Art profile in my signature if you wanna check that out (middle link). - JedazΣT MC ΞD GIS S! 11:43, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Your designs are more abstract 3D than minimalistic 2D, and thats the style i am working with while creating these logos. Anyway, we could do great use of more designers, since its not only logos that this project is aiming to create. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 13:32, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
Thats true, well I like to try my hand at various styles. I had a shot for a logo for Joachim mall. I looked up the article article on wikipedia for the idea of the dove. I would really appreciate it if you are honest about what you think about the design. Any constructive criticism would be much appreciated. Thanks. - JedazΣT MC ΞD GIS S! 23:41, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
I am still trying to understand it... but its on style... well, almost on style. Which program did you used to create that ? If its corel i can send you the CDR file of all malls so you can have them exactly on style. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 00:30, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I used the Gimp (and a little bit of paint for some hand done AA) to create it, but I don't think that the Gimp supports CDR files. By the way, which font did you use? I used Times New Roman because it had a very similar font style to the ones you made, and it was the closest match I could find, but there are subtle differences between what you used and Times New Roman so if I changed the font to the one you used that would greatly improve how close it is to your style IMO. - JedazΣT MC ΞD GIS S! 00:52, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Its americana something bold... let me check here. Americana-ExtraBold, that is, from the Americana BT family. Do you mind if i use the dove idea and make my own logo ? --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 00:55, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Sure, got ahead. I'ld be more then happy for you to. =) - JedazΣT MC ΞD GIS S! 00:58, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
And there is your dove... 3 of them now :) --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 01:06, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Nice job. It's much softer then how I designed it, and it has a better designed dove as well. Hey, out of curiosity, are you a professional or are you a hobbyist? That is if you don't mind me asking. Either way I reckon you have quite an eye for art, or at least in minimalism. - JedazΣT MC ΞD GIS S! 01:18, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
I used to work in a silk screen. For 3 years i had to use Corel Draw to create fast and simple art, since i had tons of things to do for book coves, presentation cards, shirts and all that stuff you can add paint on. I had a limit of 4 colos to use, 5 if some special cases, so you might guess how i developed this eye for minimalistic art :) --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 01:23, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Ah fair enough, that must have been good while it lasted. I'm hoping that some day I'll be able to get into something thats creative in some way, but for now I'll have to wait to finish my programing course at uni. But to be honest I'm more of the kind of person who looses all motivation half way through a project so I don't know how well I'll do as a programmer. - JedazΣT MC ΞD GIS S! 01:43, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
You know, maybe not every mall should have the logo in the same style. I mean, I'm assuming the same company did not own every single mall in Malton, so the logos did not have to be according to the same visual identity guidelines. On the other hand, there's already a whole bunch of logos, so using different styles for the minority of malls would be rather odd. --Daranz.t.mod.W(M)^∞. 23:50, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
my line of though was that Necrotech was everywhere, and owned all malls, the hospital, the police... everything. that would explain why the logos had a similar layout. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 00:23, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
According to what most people accept as canon the Necrotech government owns the town, like Umbrella Corps owned Raccoon City. So the Malls, owned by different people, all belonged to the Necrotech Corporation. --Sir Sonny Corleone RRF CRF DORIS Hunt! 02:40, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Really? I've always seen NecroTech as a bit more ambivalent and unclear, which makes it all the more frightning. Outwardly friendly and progressive, but with a potentially dark side and hidden agenda that even it's own NecroTech scientists aren't aware of but potentially buttheads with or fear. It's obviously corperate in some sense since it has a CEO. NecroTech seemed to exist prior to the outbreak, however, and it is possible that (while they may not 'own' the city) that whatever corperate\scientific studies they've done in the past were out in the public and well-documented in Malton prior to any signs of zombies. But regardless of that, I don't think a uniform style of Mall logos is really a bad thing for now. For all we know, Malton could be NecroTech's 'City of the Future', akin to such stuff done in the RoboCop movies. --MorthBabid 20:11, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

While I can easily accept the maritime/pirate association presented by the first draft of the Calvert logo, in all may days in and around Calvert Mall I have always made (my own) personal symbol of association the diagonally checked flag that has been traditionally used by those of the name from the family crest for the past several centuries. --Max Grivas JG / M.F.T. 18:38, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

idea accepted. will work on that. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 18:43, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Ideas?

Do we just post ideas for logos here or is there somewhere else i should post.--Blood Panther 23:23, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Here would be a cool place to do so. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 23:34, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Now i'm just throwing these out here so use em if you want if you dont, well thats fine too.
  • Nichols mall-maybe a curling stone/rock. based of curling gold medal winner Mark Nichols.
  • Hildebrand mall- as posted above the helmet thing sounds good.
  • Stickling mall- toy blocks, or toys of some sort based from Stickle bricks.
  • Tompson mall- a beret. based off of Charles Tompson, a poet.
  • Dowdney mall- i suggest civil war style cannon. from Abraham Dowdney an officer American Civil War.--Blood Panther 01:11, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

What do y'all think of this? Daniel Hicken 21:58, 3 April 2007 (BST)

I think its been a while since i said i was going to finish this, didnt i ? Anyway, i just got myself freed from some works i had to do, and now i'll have time to finish this... as for this barret, sorry man, but that doesnt fit the others. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 23:17, 3 April 2007 (BST)
I figured I would go along with at least one of the suggestions. Ah well, delete, replace and improve. I'm fine with that. Cheers! Daniel Hicken 23:25, 3 April 2007 (BST)

Where did you get the idea for it?--Grigori 23:51, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Mithem mall is a play in a 'Goodmorning Vietnam' poster me and saromu found. We decided to make it a radio themed logo because of the ammount of radio frequencies in mitchem (it had more than double the frequencies than other malls). --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 23:19, 3 April 2007 (BST)

How can I help?

I want to help in some way. How can I be of assitance? --Poodle of doom 04:08, 29 April 2007 (BST)

Hey! I remember when the logos first started popping up all over the place and I was really impressed. It adds so much to the wiki. So thanks.

Also, I'm a local Santlervillite and was wondering what the logo for Dowdney Mall is meant to represent. Is a Dowdney something besides a name? I couldn't think how a running person represents Dowdney. I'm not knocking the logo, because I'm sure there's a logical reason for it, but I'm just really wanting to know how it relates to Dowdney. After quickly skimming google I found a few things on a Civil War soldier and some other people, but nothing that seems to be relevant. Thanks, and drop by Santerville sometime. The Beatbox Kids will give you a warm welcome.--Nallan 03:53, 14 June 2007 (BST)

well, the Dowdney logo is nothing that anyone that lives in that mall today should be proud off. Its one of the few malls that its fame in-game inspired me to create it (the other logos that where inspired by in-game events are ackland, bale, blesley and giddings). The reason why its a running man its because of the Mall Tour and several other sieges that happened in Dowdney. Every time a zombie group gathered at the door steps of Dowdney their inhabitants ran for their lives, leaving a nearly empty mall behind. Some might call this River Tactics, but we call it cowardice. Hence the running man. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 04:06, 14 June 2007 (BST)
