Talk:The Petorians

Recommend for deletion. It's a pity that Katthew feels he needs to lash out instead of taking a look at himself to see whether this is all really worth the bile and anger. --Stankow 17:19, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)

It's a legitimate group and I defy you to prove otherwise.
(Also, "lash out"? HAHAHAHAHA, you stupid fucking faggot.) --Katthew 17:22, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
Eh, let him keep it up. If he feels the need to follow other groups around, mimicking their pages for kicks, so be it.--Jeff 17:26, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
Yeah, you're right. After all, Katthew is the best admin EVAR, and all of his changes are pure gold. --Stankow 17:28, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
At least I don't whine constantly about wanting mutating zombies, unable to grasp the fact I am in a minority of one on the subject. Oh, and I don't vandalise pages. --Katthew 17:29, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
Actually the Petorians predate the Pretorians so they're mimicking us. Just FYI. --Katthew 17:28, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)

I have deleted this page because the group doesn't exist and thus the NPOV section was false. Katthew, go and actually found a little pisstake group and describe it accurately in the NPOV section as a take off of the Pretorians for satirical purposes and you can saw whatever you like in the POV section. Until you do, don't recreate this page. --Morlock 17:31, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)

The group does exist. I have a Slashdot account, I created the group with several others, and thus we are entitled to a page. We are as legitimate as the Pretorians. --Katthew 17:33, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
UD didn't exist in 1999, therefore it's impossible that you created the group back then. Also, even if it's a legitimate group, they are still plainly mocking the Pretorians. --Daranz-Talk 17:36, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
So groups aren't allowed to mock other groups? Go on, pull another rule out of your ass. It's amazing. --Katthew 17:37, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
I have no objection to this page existing if a) the group does something -- anything -- grouplike in-game rather than existing purely in Katthew's IRC channel and b) the NPOV section is written in such a way that the group's purpose as "satire" on the Pretorians is made perfectly clear. --Morlock 17:40, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
Yes, we do grouplike things in game. And it's pretty obviously satire just by the content. --Katthew 17:43, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
Only to people already aware of the situation. I've rewritten the intro para to explain it. --Morlock 17:45, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
It's cool because pisstake isn't a word. Pandalore 17:34, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
'tis where I come from. Morlock 17:40, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
Really? Where from? I figured I knew most British slang... Pandalore 17:50, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
I've been saying "pisstake" as long as I can remember so I don't really know where it comes from, except that it's an obvious backformation from "taking the piss". --Morlock 17:57, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
You misunderstand me. Where geographically?
Erm, I really dunno that it comes from anywhere in particular geographically. I probably picked it up in Somerset, originally, but if it started there I will buy a hat just for the purposes of eating it. Morlock 18:25, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)

Im all for humor, but I added a small disclaimer to the top to help the easily confused. Although personally I think this article should be deleted entirely, its funny but serves no purpose other than to antogonize the Pretorians. I imagine the next shot will be a DARIO page or something. --Amazing Rando 17:53, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)

Well, this sort of thing is precisely why I was against having POV material anywhere on the Wiki, but everyone else seems to think this sort of thing's fantastic. --Morlock 17:57, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
Either way it's done, somebody's not gonna like it. And having a strict POV policy would lead to further bitching and moaning about various pages on this wiki. On a different note: is there a Slashot Offline? --Daranz-Talk 17:59, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
I don't mind some PoV now and then within the bounds of truth, it can help add flavor and humor to what might be otherwise excessively dry. However, this is clearly over the line in terms of both PoV and truthfulness. --Amazing Rando 18:04, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
It's as legitimate and truthful as the content on the Pretorian's page, that I can assure you. --Katthew 18:21, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)
Let's all try to remember that Urban Dead is a game and the intent is to have fun, okay? Usually adults try to have fun in a way that isn't designed to antagonize other players, and the standard of offensiveness is reached by community consensus. --otherlleft 18:54, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)

I've thought it over and realized that I was being humorless. Parody pages, while potentially cluttering up the wiki, can be a fun addition to the environment of the game. The back-and-forth childishness surrounding this was silly, and I regret making those early edits. --Stankow 21:47, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)

Only because you don't want to get banned, Stankow. You're a snivelling excuse for a human being, but at least have the decency to admit to your failings. --Katthew 10:40, 23 Sep 2005 (BST)
That's just sad. You're still threatening to ban people? It's been 36 hours since I posted that, during which time I haven't said a single thing about the Petorians, or Shearbank, or DARIS, or anything else you seem to care about, and I'm the "dramawhore" who has problems letting things go? Thanks for the advice about the splinter. --Stankow 13:00, 23 Sep 2005 (BST)

Jesus with the drama already. This page is funny, and should stand for that reason if for no other. If there's really a concern parody groups will cause confusion, the addition of a Humor category may clear it up. --Triscuitarian 22:00, 21 Sep 2005 (BST)

The part of the page that I actually read was really very funny. --Dislexsick 06:49, 7 Oct 2005 (BST)

uhhh, sorry accidentally fucked this page up, please forgive me.

No problem, I fixed it. --LibrarianBrent 20:20, 9 Oct 2005 (BST)
