Talk:The Status Reporters

From The Urban Dead Wiki

A few things:

  • Might want to define what a TRP is. Police departments, malls, hospitals, etc, are always included as one, but what about fire departments and auto repairs?
  • Might want to strike out a suburb once it's done (I for one, did Dulston a while back, as well as Greentown. I know Vinetown is done too.)
  • Why not give every suburb a building information center?

Other then that, great idea. Someone had to do this. Linkthewindow  Talk  06:28, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

More things: Can you please update these regularly rather than create and ditch them (as so often happens), nothing sucks like a danger report that hasn't been updated in 6-12-more months...--xoxo 09:59, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

More likely is to try and get local groups on board. I update all the Greentown reports regularly, and Rosslessness does the Vinetown reports. More likely, we should just ask a local group (and, anyway, since they are TRP's they are updated quite often anyway.) Linkthewindow  Talk  10:23, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Since lower levels usually visit Fire Departments, they should have one too. Auto repairs really don't need one. I was gonna strike them out after we hit a target. The building info centers seem like a good idea too! :D --Haliman - Talk 16:40, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks :D. I'll start once I get home and get a real mouse again ;). Linkthewindow  Talk  04:21, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
What Link said. Laptop tracker pads fail hard. --Pestolence(talk) 04:38, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Nevermind. Saw the page xD --Haliman - Talk 04:40, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I'll be glad to help out with this. --Pestolence(talk) 05:13, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah. I've gotten used to it, but it's not enough for the work that the wiki needs. Linkthewindow  Talk  05:11, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

I already got Gibs 100%, and Santlerville, but no BIC. --Haliman - Talk 05:15, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

It haz building information center. Linkthewindow  Talk  05:35, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Re:the BIC's, can I suggest making Building Information Centers a page, and making all the others subpages of it, like "Building Information Center/Gibsonton". This kind of organization seems to be the trend on the wiki lately. --Pestolence(talk) 05:21, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

I was thinking making the BIC's subpages of the suburb (ie:Dulston/Building Information Center). Linkthewindow  Talk  05:35, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
It could work either way, really... I suggested it the way I did because that way there would be one page which linked to all the BICs, but we could create that page anyway. --Pestolence(talk) 05:38, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
When we finish, I'll make a map where you just click a suburb and get taken to it's BIC :). Linkthewindow  Talk  05:43, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

There is a nice list of suburbs with a BIC here. Linkthewindow  Talk  05:38, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Wow, I had no idea there were so many already created. --Pestolence(talk) 05:39, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

A nice little virus ate my PC, and my laptop sucks, so I won't be able to do anything for a while till I get my PC fixed. --Pestolence(talk) 01:26, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Ohnoes! Any idea how long it will take to be fixed? Linkthewindow  Talk  01:31, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
No idea... A friend got infected with the same virus a while back and he had to wipe his hard drive to fix it, so I'm not too hopeful. --Pestolence(talk) 01:33, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack!

Well, in a manner of speaking... I can make my laptop work now so I'll start work on Dunningwood if no one's got any problems? --Pestolence(talk) 01:42, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Just did Earletown. I've found a lot of them have a lot of the buildings done already, so it's not as long as I thought. I'll try to do a few more later. Linkthewindow  Talk  06:55, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
I finished Dunningwood, but no BIC. I'll get to work on that soon... --Pestolence(talk) 18:59, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
And the BIC for Dunningwood is done and added to the list of suburb BICs. Striking it as done on the main page. --Pestolence(talk) 19:11, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Only one suburb left. Where to next, comrades? Linkthewindow  Talk  01:07, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

West? (Chancelwood, Brooke Hills, Huntley Heights and E. Boundwood). --Pestolence(talk) 01:16, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, just the nine to the west of us, eh? Linkthewindow  Talk  01:51, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I think that would be best if we're going to do 3x3 blocks. --Pestolence(talk) 02:08, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Knock Knock

Anyone still doing this? --Pestolence(talk) 20:23, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

I have rather unstable internet atm. I'll be back when I get it fixed. --Haliman - Talk 01:17, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Nice work, here's more...

Hey chaps, nice job on adding these danger reports. It's nice to see people actually updating the categories and whatnot properly. Anyway, I thought you might like some extra work and...ok, joking, but it would be nice if somebody undertook it.

Some months ago, a template for ambiguous buildings status was made as part of the overhual of the MPM system. It's pretty awesome. Anyway, since you chaps have undertaken adding the missing reports, you might like to use this template when needed, and update any templates in use.

Here's an example implementation. The only differences are:

building=Solomon Lane Police Department (Houldenbank)|xy=(96,65)
<!--Do not edit above this line! Please use a NPOV when updating the report.-->

|disambig=Solomon Lane Police Department|building=Solomon Lane Police Department (Houldenbank)|xy=(96,65)
<!--Do not edit above this line! Please use a NPOV when updating the report.-->

Change the default template call in the top line, and add in the disambig variable, which is the same as the building name without the suburb name at the end (or co-ords or whatever it used to distinguish buildings with the same name).

You can find a list of building's with the same name on the Locations List page.

Again, keep up the good work. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 14:00, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

/Me speaks like a wiki newb. What does the new one do? --Haliman - Talk 04:15, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Basically, it's just neater. Various templates will call the disambig variable if possible, showing 'The Ambiguous Building' as a link, rather than 'The Ambiguous Building (Suburb Name)' which looks less nice and can also be too long for some templates. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 16:13, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
