To protect and defend the UD wiki from possible lawsuits due to violations of the UDWiki:Copyrights rule and copyright law in the US and/or the UK.
[edit] How to Help
When you find someone using a copyrighted image without the permission of the author and does not cite the source, place our template on their page. It's simple! Just put {{Copyright Gestapo}} on their talk page to tell the user that they are in violation of the UD Wiki rules and could get Kevan and UD in trouble.!

Just put {{Support Copyrights}} or {{Support_Copyrights_wide}} on your page to tell everyone that you're a member of the Copyright Gestapo!

Make sure that the images on the wiki are appropriately cited (if possible) and to curb the illegal use of copyrighted images. Do not harass other users. Merely place the {{Copyright Gestapo}} on a user's talk page (not their user page itself) and inform them of which image violated copyright law. Make sure that you can cite the correct owner of the image with a link to the copyright holder. This way, the user can contact the copyright holder and obtain permission to continue using the image. Note: if the user deletes the template, do not put it back on their user talk page. It will have served the purpose of letting the user know about their violation and will allow us to nominate the image up for deletion.

Currently there is a proposal to add a Thirteenth Speedy Deletion Criterion that will allow violations of the UDWiki:Copyrights to be speedy deleted. All discussion on this matter should not be made on this page, but rather under the discussion page for the proposed policy.
