Welcome to the Office of Civil Defense. We are a newly forming human survivor based group stationed in Brooke Hills.

Motto

"Agimus Quis Est Necessarius" - "We Do What Is Needed"

Our Mission

To assist the survivor cause in any way possible. We will assist the local and governmental offices and forces in disaster relief, zombie suppression and elimination, and all other forms of civilian assistance and defense.

Chain of Command

Leadership

The OCD was created and is led by Fire marshall bill, a veteran of the Urban Dead game and founder of the American version of the OCD, the MCDU. The OCD also has a structured hierarchy of officers and enlisted with a basic system of ranks and responsibilities for each member to obtain and maintain.

Our chain of command is as follows:

  • Commander (Fire Marshall Bill)
  • Officer
  • Sergeant
  • Corporal
  • Enlisted

We will eventually split into Sections once we have more members.

Enlistment & Forum Policies

Everyone is welcome. However, there are a set of ground rules which you must respect if you want to stay with this group.

  1. NO PK'ing. This is a survivor group, killing other survivors would be detrimental to our cause. However, killing known and registered PK'ers is totally acceptable. (See PK Reporting.)
  2. NO bullsh*t. Please, conduct yourself as an adult. The forums are an extension of Fire Marshall Bill's house and when in them, you are a guest in his house. Act like it, please.
  3. Have a good time with the group. If you plan on posting a lot or a little, make the most of it and try not to join then disappear. If you plan on being gone for an extended amount of time, let us know so you do not get purged from the system.
  4. Obey the rules of Urban Dead as they are listed on the main page. We are not a group for cheaters.
  5. Have a good attitude and respect your fellow OCD as well as everyone else who is a forums member here for a different purpose.
  6. Minimize your double posting. We couldn't care less what your post count is.

Allies

We consider ourselves allied and strategic partners with all other local and governmental forces supplying aid to the human survivor cause. This includes local police, fire, emergency rescue and hospitals in each suburb as well as wide sweeping agencies like the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) and the military. (See Human Groups.)

Civil Defense Tips

A few pointers to help you in your work as a Civil Defense member.

Standard Equipment

As a member of the OCD, each player is required to carry AT LEAST these basic gaming necessities.

  1. 2 First Aid Kits. One for you, one for a fellow survivor.
  2. One Melee Weapon of Choice. (In case ammunition is scare, always have something to fight with other than your fists).
  3. One Crowbar. This will help you unbarricade overly barricaded common resource buildings that should be kept at Very Strongly Barricded. These buildings include Police Stations, Fire Stations and Hospitals. Newbs who cannot Free Run will need to be able to enter these facilities and seek help as well as supplies.
  4. 1 Syringe. Once you obtain the skills to use syringes to revive the dead, make sure you ALWAYS have one on your person. This way, not only can you assist a fellow survivor, but you may also assist a fellow OCD member.

Rules of Engagement

The game of Urban Dead is very simple. There are two sides fighting a war for survival...humans and zombies. Humans can take shelter inside buildings, while zombies will try to break into these buildings to harm and/or kill the aforementioned humans. With this in mind, there are only three places for zombies to exist in Urban Dead.

  1. Outside Buildings.
  2. Inside Buildings.
  3. Dead and laying down.

Obviously, if the zombies are all laying dead and not standing back up we have achieved a total victory and a suburb is cleansed. This is very unlikely, and will obviously not stay that way for long so then we must examine the next two options. Having zombies inside the buildings you will be sleeping in and taking shelter in is detrimental to your health and everyone else in the building. So, that leaves us with the final option...outside. Zombies belong outside, and as such, it is a complete waste of ammo and action points to engage them in the streets. The only time this is acceptable and even prudent is if you are trying to level your character up and there are no zombies inside buildings to kill off.

Otherwise, every time you kill a zombie in the streets it takes you lots of AP & ammunition. For the zombie to simply rise back up, at full health, the zombie player merely hits the "Stand Up" button, making all your hard work for nothing. A better way to defeat the zombie is through trickery, frustration, and wasting their AP on barricades or false promises of human meals inside (what turn out to be) empty buildings.

Conclusion

We are still a young group, stay tuned for there is more to come in the future.
