The Gibbons Building was built with the sole purpose of conducting an experiment that would test the validity of the "Infinite Monkey Theorem"; the building was named as such due to gibbons being the majority of the test subjects. The experiment was a spectacular failure, as within a week the monkeys and apes used for the study went wild, hurling various office supplies around and throwing feces at one another. One monkey did write a very compelling mystery novel, which was published, though sold poorly.

Built in the mid-Eighties by media giant Higgdon, Inc., after acquiring Titley Park, it was planned to be the company's new headquarters in the years after its completion. Unfortunately, poor business practices and the overall disappointing performance of the already-unprofitable Titley Park forced Higgdon to sell many of its assets, including the park. The building remained in the possession of Higgdon, though only the top three floors were used by the company; the rest of its office space was rented out to various businesses.
