History

The Schonlau Motel is a small older motel in southern Pitneybank. People used to stay at this economy roadside inn when visiting Fort Creedy. "Schonlau" is probably Germanic in origin, and may be the surname of the original owner. Etymologically, the word loosely means 'ready and warm'.

After the outbreak, the Schonlau has become a haven for survivors visiting Pitneybank to enjoy the perennial zombie attacks on the nearby fort and mall. When open, the Schonlau offers a welcome respite for survivors eager for local gossip regarding Fort Creedy to the west, Giddings Mall to the north and the two nearby NT buildings, the Farmer Building and the Morrish Building. Its chief strategic function is to act as an entry point for St. Benedict's Hospital and the Farmer Building to the Schonlau's northwest. It also acts as a temporary haven for survivors fleeing south to the Rowcliffe Building and east to the Veryard Building.

Current Status

Although the restaurant seems to be closed, Schonlau Motel can be declared safe. No generator, radio or other frivolities. Will try and get a better look around Pitneybank to the east with my binoculars showed nothing but empty streets. No zed, survivors or lighted buildings to be found. Peralta 19:56, 1 July 2012 (BST)

Things continue as usual at the Schonlau, repeatedly ransacked and ruined by zombie hordes then repaired and barricaded by persistent survivors.--Buddy K 15:20, 4 June 2009 (BST)

All is well, with occasional overnight break-ins.--Buddy K 06:36, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Still ransacked. --Buddy K 20:57, 5 December 2008 (UTC) Ransacked--Strike243 23:01, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Cades fell a while ago, zeds killed one person. Barricades are back up, three zombies still inside. This problem should be resolved shortly. --Wildman curt 00:29, 2 October 2008 (BST)

Generator's back up and running, plenty of fuel, radio on 26.70, barricades are still passable at VSB. We are welcoming the injured who can't free-run to St. Benedict's. --Wildman curt 20:59, 1 October 2008 (BST)

The schonlau's still holding up just fine, the generator's fueled, and we're still ready to take in any survivors.--Wildman curt 06:10, 18 September 2008 (BST)

I've got enough FAKs for two, possibly three badly injured survivors, the barricade is holding nicely, but our generator is running low, and with the Creedy gatehouse at EHB, I won't be able to get fuel for it for a while. The good news is that we're getting very little zed attention.--Wildman curt 14:47, 14 September 2008 (BST)

Everything's still good to go, from what I can tell. Despite the 100+ bodies laying outside ft. Creedy, we're actually attracting very little attention from the zombies. Right now we're still VSB, and open to any survivors who need a place to stay and a healing.--Wildman curt 23:40, 12 September 2008 (BST)

There's still the occasional straggling zombie, but everything's holding up good. The generator's been refueled and some of our guests and residents have been patched up. Things are looking alright.--Wildman curt 18:02, 10 September 2008 (BST)

The area is virtually zombie free and many guests are enjoying the Schonlau hospitality.--Buddy K 16:54, 5 September 2008 (BST)

The Schonlau has added a McZeds franchise. Yum!--Buddy K 03:37, 23 August 2008 (BST)

The Schonlau is open and has vacancies, is barricaded up to VSB+2, and has a fueled generator and a radio transmitter. All is well, for the time being.--Buddy K 03:58, 13 August 2008 (BST)

Survivors in the area are having much success rebuilding Fort Creedy and the local hospitals and NT buildings, as well as Giddings Mall, it is rumored. Thanks to the kind efforts of dedicated survivors, the Schonlau has both a living caretaker and a generator, and now is only lacking fuel and a radio transmitter to be back up to snuff.--Buddy K 23:10, 11 August 2008 (BST)

The Schonlau is barricaded up to code, but is still without power.--Buddy K 19:33, 11 August 2008 (BST)

The Schonlau is repaired, for the time being. A few persistent zombies seem to be keeping survivors from returning to reclaim the area around the motel.--Buddy K 15:17, 4 August 2008 (BST)

The Schonlau is ransacked again.--Buddy K 15:10, 30 July 2008 (BST)

The Schonlau is, for the moment, repaired and barricaded up to policy, though still without power.--Buddy K 23:04, 29 July 2008 (BST)

Motel is empty and ruined. Small zombie groups roam the streets outside.--Buddy K 23:03, 22 July 2008 (BST)

The Schonlau has been abandoned and has 7 zombies inside.--Buddy K 23:41, 19 July 2008 (BST)

Zombies have destroyed the barricades and killed several motel guests. --Buddy K 18:17, 19 July 2008 (BST)

The motel is dark, and lacks a Portable Generator, Fuel, and a Radio Transmitter. Zombies roam the outside streets after the recent fall of Fort Creedy and Giddings Mall, both of which are still dark. Lights out in nearby St. Benedict's hospital, so FAKs in short supply. The Farmer Building's (NT) lights are out. The Morrish Building's (NT) lights are on with less than 10 zombies outside it, as of 9 a.m. CST. About 50 zombies are gathered at the revive point at Walrond Square. Yesterday I heard there we some rotters messing up the revive cue. Lots of conflicting chatter on the radio. --Buddy K 18:29, 19 July 2008 (BST)
