Basic Info:

  • A monument is a city block containing a statue or similar piece of public art, without a building in it. It is functionally equivalent to a street, except that players with the Tagging skill can gain 2 XP for writing graffiti on a monument.
  • This is, game-play wise, an empty block, and cannot be barricaded.
  • After the July 3, 2009 update, some monuments became tall and can be seen from a distance with binoculars

Description

Humans and zombies alike will see the following (permanent) description when standing in front of the monument:

"You are at the Starr Monument, a concrete statue of a man with a book flecked by pigeons."

The Starr Monument, constructed in 1942, is commemorated to a local pilot who died in early 1941, with a total of 23 kills. Not much is known about the pilot nowadays;A block to the east held a library on town heroes, but it was destroyed by flame in 1980. Most records of Ms. Starr (yes, a female) were burned with it. (This block was later turned into the first Wimbridge Boulevard Fire Station) The only facts about Ms. Starr left is that she was a 23 year old woman, unmarried, with no children, liked pineapples, and had a full name of Mary-Anne Jenny DeLario-Starr. A private collector is said to have had large amounts of data on town heroes (and pretty much every other subject to be found in Malton's books) in Houldenbank's Potenger Library; If your brave enough to travel to it, it is currently VSB++.
