Description

Tilly Row aka Bent Cop Central

One of four PDs in Pegton: the others are Dinham Alley Police Department, 2 blocks northeast; Fowles Plaza Police Department [80, 52], and Cowing Way Police Department [85, 53]. Stadling Walk Police Department in Edgecombe is one block west.

Tilly Row is a grim brick fortress, designed to keep rotters in and now barricaded to keep rotters out.

History

The Tilly Row precinct was one of Malton's most notorious police departments. From the outset, fighting crime was far down on its list of priorities; indeed, locals suggest that it was only built as a snub to the neighbouring suburb of Edgecombe, Pegtonians' deeply loathed local rivals. Built the year after and right next door to Stadling Walk Police Department, the implication was that Edgecombe's finest weren't good enough to serve Pegton. Just in case the message wasn't clear enough, the Pegton Post headline of the day spelt it out: Pegton Police Have Edge on Edgecombe.

Far from tackling crime, the two precincts spent most of their time plotting against each other. Doughnuts went missing or were poisoned; coffee was switched with decaffeinated; police car lights were sabotaged so that the occupants were electrocuted whenever they activated the 'blues and twos'. Meanwhile, crime rates soared, especially around Perks Avenue, and it was accepted local wisdom that the police were taking a cut of the drugs and prostitution rackets in the area.

After Mayor Angus McFergus' untimely death, the precinct was thoroughly cleaned up by a select group of untainted police known as The Unsmellables because of their uncommon dedication to personal hygiene. In total, 99 Tilly Row policemen ended up doing time for corruption. Nonetheless, Pegton's police held their heads up high over the whole sordid affair, as 100 of Edgecombe's police were imprisoned after a similar clean-up operation.

20 May 2008 Extremely Heavily Barricaded. Area seems safe.
