UDWiki:Administration/Admin Page Cycling Instructions

In order to keep admin pages free of clutter or from breaking due to inclusion limits, system administrators are responsible for archiving them each quarter. Because cycling of admin pages involves the wiki's move and protect functions, only system operators may cycle pages. System Operators should follow the cycling instructions below to maintain consistency in archived pages.

When to Cycle Pages

For most pages, cycling occurs at the beginning of each new quarter. Towards the end of the quarter, System Operators should attempt to serve any active admin requests before cycling pages. If there is active discussion regarding an admin request, attempt to steer the conversation towards a resolution. Any unserved admin requests will not be archived during cycling.

Certain admin pages are archived more or less often than once a quarter.

• Undeletion requests are archived one week after they are served in the appropriate annual archive page.
• De-Escalation archives are created once a year at the beginning of the year. The archive is simply transcluded onto the De-escalations page at the beginning of the year.
• Promotions, Re-Evaluations, Misconduct, and Demotions are all archived immediately after action has been taken.
• Policy Discussion pages are simply protected and categorized after voting has closed. The most recent Policy Discussion pages are listed under the Recent Policies header on A/PD. Periodically, the Recent Policies list is purged.
• Concluded Arbitration cases are all listed on Category:Arbitration Cases in chronological order. Cases should be archived immediately after they have closed.

Quarterly Archives

The following 5 Admin pages should be cycled at the beginning of each quarter. Cycling instructions are provided below.

A/D

1. Tally the voting for any unserved deletion requests, take any appropriate action and move the served deletion request down to the Recent Actions header.
2. Move the page UDWiki:Administration/Deletions to UDWiki:Administration/Deletions/Archive/(CurrentYearNumber PriorQuarterNumber
   • Uncheck the box "Move Associated Talk Page" when moving the page
3. Edit the new archive page. Remove all text from the top of the page down to the Deletion Queue header. Cut (Crtl+X) any deletions requests still under voting.
4. Protect the archive page.
5. Edit UDWiki:Administration/Deletions and replace the redirect text with {{subst:A/Dsub}}. Save the page.
6. Edit the Deletion Queue section and paste in any unserved deletion requests from the prior quarter
7. Edit Template:Deletearchivenav. Find the current year and quarter in the list of archives. Add brackets around the pre-formatted internal link and save the page. This will create a red link.
8. Click the red link to Edit the page. Type #REDIRECT[[UDWiki:Administration/Deletions]] and save the page.

A/SD

1. If possible, serve any speedy deletion requests in the Speedy Deletion Queue. Move any served requests down to the Recent Actions header.
2. Move the page UDWiki:Administration/Speedy Deletions to UDWiki:Administration/Speedy Deletions/Archive/(CurrentYearNumber PriorQuarterNumber)
   • Uncheck the box "Move Associated Talk Page" when moving the page
3. Edit the new archive page. Remove all text from the top of the page down to the Speedy Deletion Queue header. Cut (Crtl+X) any deletions requests still under voting.
4. Protect the archive page.
5. Edit UDWiki:Administration/Speedy Deletions and replace the redirect text with {{subst:A/SDsub}}. Save the page.
6. Edit the Speedy Deletion Queue section and paste in any unserved deletion requests from the prior quarter.
7. Edit Template:Speedydeletearchivenav. Find the current year and quarter in the list of archives. Add brackets around the pre-formatted internal link and save the page. This will create a red link.
8. Click the red link to Edit the page. Type #REDIRECT[[UDWiki:Administration/Speedy Deletions]] and save the page.

A/VB

1. If possible, close any open Vandal Banning cases.
2. Move the page UDWiki:Administration/Vandal Banning to UDWiki:Administration/Vandal Banning/Archive/(CurrentYearNumber PriorQuarterNumber)
   • Uncheck the box "Move Associated Talk Page" when moving the page
3. Edit the new archive page. Remove all text from the top of the page down to the Quarterly VB header header. Cut (Crtl+X) any vandal cases still in progress.
4. Protect the archive page and its discussion page.
5. Edit UDWiki:Administration/Vandal Banning and replace the redirect text with {{subst:A/VBsub}}. Save the page.
6. Edit the Quarterly Archive section and paste in any open vandal cases from the prior quarter.
7. Edit Template:VBarchivenav. Find the current year and quarter in the list of archives. Add brackets around the pre-formatted internal link and save the page. This will create a red link.
8. Click the red link to Edit the page. Type #REDIRECT[[UDWiki:Administration/Vandal Banning]] and save the page.
9. Edit the archive's discussion page and create a level 1 header with the current year and quarter number.

A/MR

1. If possible, serve any Move requests in the Move Request Queue. Move any served requests down to the Recent Actions header.
2. Move the page UDWiki:Administration/Move Requests to UDWiki:Administration/Move Requests/Archive/(CurrentYearNumber PriorQuarterNumber)
   • Uncheck the box "Move Associated Talk Page" when moving the page
3. Edit the new archive page. Remove all text from the top of the page down to the Move Requests Queue header. Cut (Crtl+X) any move requests still under discussion.
4. Protect the archive page.
5. Edit UDWiki:Administration/Move Requests and replace the redirect text with {{subst:A/Msub}}. Save the page.
6. Edit the Move Request Queue section and paste in any unserved move requests from the prior quarter.
7. Edit Template:Movearchivenav. Find the current year and quarter in the list of archives. Add brackets around the pre-formatted internal link and save the page. This will create a red link.
8. Click the red link to Edit the page. Type #REDIRECT[[UDWiki:Administration/Move Requests]] and save the page.

A/PT

1. If possible, serve any Protections or Requested Edits requests in the Protections and Requested Edits Queues. Move any served requests down to the Recent Actions header.
2. Move the page UDWiki:Administration/Protections to UDWiki:Administration/Protections/Archive/(CurrentYearNumber PriorQuarterNumber)
   • Uncheck the box "Move Associated Talk Page" when moving the page
3. Edit the new archive page. Remove all text from the top of the page down to the Protections or Requested Edits headers. Cut (Crtl+X) any requests still under discussion.
4. Protect the archive page.
5. Edit UDWiki:Administration/Protections and replace the redirect text with {{subst:A/PTsub}}. Save the page.
6. Edit the Protections Queue section and paste in any unserved protection requests from the prior quarter.
7. Edit Template:ProtectionsArchiveNavigation. Find the current year and quarter in the list of archives. Add brackets around the pre-formatted internal link and save the page. This will create a red link.
8. Click the red link to Edit the page. Type #REDIRECT[[UDWiki:Administration/Protections]] and save the page.
