It's NOT a pker list... it's some misguided idiot's half-assed attempt at a pker list. There's no documentation, no criteria, nothing. I like being in the Rogues Gallery; however, it's an independent entity and does not have the "authority" of a peer-edited community page. If there IS to be an official pker list, I'm guessing there's going to be... shit, I don't know... probably like six or seven more people on there. Maybe eight, I'm not quite sure. Suburb_Recruitment

I've already had this up for SD, but Boxy put a keep on it and then neglected to move it here.

I'd have this deleted under Crit 1, duplication of content. It's a recreation of Recruitment in a different format. I'd even say that it's bad faith, as it intentionally subverts the community consensus of the aforementioned page but unilaterally changing established guidelines by creating a copy of the page. This is no different to someone being duped or spammed on the suggestions system and then setting up their own 'Users Suggestions' page and not allowing spam or dupe votes.

The notion of reorganising the recruitment page has been discussed multiple times with no clear consensus being reached or even the author of this page actively participating. Changing a guideline on a community page requires discussion and consensus, the DEM are currently in this process attempting to correctly alter the page.

The page also has "Brought to you by The Gamer's Haven!" plastered across the top of it in a de facto attempt to establish authority over a page in the public space. At the very least this should be moved into that group's namespace on those grounds.

Either this or Recruitment needs deleting, there's no point in users putting work into one when another has a completely different set of guidelines and standards, it's just going to confuse the newbies and create wiki drama. It should be this page as Recruitment is already set up from the internal links and is easier to find, it is also the page with the established history of community consensus, not de facto claimed authority. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 09:33, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

  2. Speedy Delete - As Iscariot. Ether way, the group could at least move it. It's bad faith. Linkthewindow Talk 10:15, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
To clarify, I don't see a Recruitment page listed by suburb as such a bad idea (although the suburb pages already have the info,) it's more that a group has claimed ownership over a mainspace page. Linkthewindow Talk 05:22, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
  3. Keep - I saw this, personally i feel it's more useful than the existing recruitment page and could even replace the list of groups in a suburb in the right hand panel of each suburbs page. However if those two are gonna stay existing this could probably go.--xoxo 00:10, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
  4. Keep - This is a (potentially) immensely useful page. Recruiting by suburbs plays to the strengths of many small and local groups that would otherwise get lost in the shuffle. What's wrong with having recruiting groups be able to recruit in both ways? Get rid of the "brought to you by the gamer's haven" bit, put a link on the Recruitment page saying, "or, instead of looking alphabetically, here are some groups recruiting by surburb," and let it stay. (Also -- I'd say that every group that put an add there, and decided to use it, has already endorsed it and found it useful). --Jen 05:57, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
All this page is going to do is cause drama. The content is duplicated on the suburbs pages with the active groups list (which thanks to the recent Suburbs Massacre is now accurate), if people are looking by suburbs their first point of call is the suburb page in question. This has been debated numerous times on Talk:Recruitment. The main point of this is the subversion of community consensus, it has no guidelines, it arbitraily removes the large groups rule (thereby invalidating months of good faith discussion by Whitehouse, myself and members of the DEM) and has no criteria for removal. Newbie A puts his ad on both pages, I remove it for one of any number of reasons, he doesn't get why = drama ensues. We've seen it before. This is no different to my example of creating a new suggestions system because you were upset over it being a dupe and killed accordingly. There's a reason we have only one of each of these types of systems on the wiki. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 10:20, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
This is retarded. The page duplicates information found on the main recruitment page ***AND*** in the suburb group listings. You can click on the link for any group in a given suburb and read their blurb, which always includes recruitment information. While well intentioned this page is a confusing waste of disk space. Delete it already. [addedndum] or else delete the main recruitment page while keeping and expanding this: because THAT page is a terrible and useless mess. --WanYao 02:12, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
  5. Keep I happen to like the idea... It could use some work, but still. And Recruitment by itself is too good at what it does at a glance. Conndrakamod TAZM CFT 11:18, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
  6. Keep - No one seems to have contacted the guy before the page was put, first on a/sd, and now here, despite him posting on the recruitment talk page about it. Although I think that in it's current format, it would be a waste of time upkeeping both systems, I think the idea has merit, perhaps as a simple list page, where groups can provide a simple link to their existing recruitment page entry under the suburbs that they are active in -- boxy talkteh rulz 13:00 29 October 2008 (BST)
  7. keep i prefer the split by suburbs... The page could do with a bit of work on its guidelines but i think if it can attract more attention then it will be a good and useful page.--Honestmistake 14:20, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
  8. Delete/Move I think every suburb should have its own recruitment page to avoid these incidents. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 07:06, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
  9. Keep - Needs work, as many have pointed out above, but still a useful resource. Possibly the posting guidelines should be standardized with those of the old Recruitment page, to the extent possible. Certainly the Gamer's Haven tag should go. But really, since recruit ads are all templates anyway, what's wrong with being able to use them on two recruitment pages? And added bonus: because of the one-suburb rule, there won't be any DEM ads on this one either. -- Atticus Rex mfu pif Δ 07:03, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Undeleted.--– Nubis NWO 03:24, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

They said the group is still active and in transition. They know that we want to keep the clutter down and to post the pages when they have decided what they are doing. Why not wait a bit and let them get their shit together before we delete them? What happened to CRIT 12? This is a group subpage. I can't believe people are OK with subpages just being deleted.--– Nubis NWO 03:28, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Level 4 header. What are you doing? It was voted to be speedily deleted and it should be deleted. It'll be very easy to recreate a page without any content. I'm deleting it again. --  AHLGTG 03:32, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Crit 1 doesn't make exceptions for group sub pages, and although some latitude should be given to pages with minimal content, a totally blank page, blank for 7 months, still clearly qualifies. If they decide to recreate the pages, then they can do it. It's not like any content is being lost -- boxy talkteh rulz 09:12 14 November 2008 (BST)
isn't there some rule against creating pages that were speedy deleted?? or is that only restoring them in a capacity identical to their previous capacity??--xoxo 13:28, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Crit 6, however is is superseded by undeletion requests and this, quite frankly, is ridiculous, it's the kind of request that should be served and followed up on. The group leader says the pages are active the pages stay and we pester him to hurry up and add the content that will be there or redelete them a decent amount of time after the undeletion request. That is all.--Karekmaps?! 16:12, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Crit 6 wouldn't apply here, unless they recreated pages that were eligible for speedydeletion again. Notice the "the page is a duplicate of a page that has been deleted from a previous deletion request". If the page is a duplicate, in content or intent, to one that was deleted before, it gets trashed on sight, but no sysop should bother if they recreated the pages with content on them. They've had over a week to use the pages, and they don't list them as active (above), so... gorn -- boxy talkteh rulz 21:19 14 November 2008 (BST)

  8. Delete(Speedily Even)Self serving votes of KEEP do not count. That's just insane to think that they would. You can't vote on your own case. User pages should not have a redirect at all. If you can't be arsed to type in the name of a user then just put their page on your watch list and get to it from there. (hell, make a link to it on your user page if you want to get to it quickly) If one user page is going to have a redirect then all user pages should have them and there is no way in hell that will fly. It's not like these are even that complicated of names. These users should not be "special" and above the rules.
If a redirect is "popular" that means that that user is posting all over the place and that makes it even easier to get to their page. You can not honestly justify the existence of any of these pages including AHLG since you can easily get to his page via links on the Main Page of the wiki (you know, Administration > List of Sysops) There should be no vote on these pages and they should be deleted right away. --– Nubis NWO 14:31, 24 October 2008 (BST)

No, they shouldn't, for the same reason why Midianian's link/vote is ridiculous; It's a category full of pages(a portal) and it's easier on everyone if it is left the way it is. If someone is looking for similar/related games it is a player resource to provide that information and nothing good comes of changing the way they are now to make it harder on the players/users, if Kevan had issue with it he would have dealt with it(if he doesn't know inform him to see if he does).--Karekmaps?! 19:13, 21 October 2008 (BST)

My main argument is that it's not serving a purpose in having an entire page devoted to it. This is because it's not a game created by Kevan and because the page is in total disarray. I don't think it's attracting any users from the game either and I don't think we have many people from the wiki joining Cities because of the page.--SirArgo Talk 04:53, 22 October 2008 (BST)
Yeh it is an ugly page but it's more the principle, why go about deleting links to related games communities outside this network? Why denude the network? As for traffic, well this deletions thread is advertising the page and Cities nicely, I'd bet there's a couple of UD players signed up there already to check it out. You could invite the creators to fix the page and place a UD advert on their wiki ... Or not bother and just delete it.--Zeug 05:03, 22 October 2008 (BST)

  15. Not Voting; biased - Hi, I'm the lead developer of cities, and I'd rather be friendly. We've picked up a few players over the years from this wiki, and are happy to cross pollinate. In the interests of friendlyness, I've knocked up http://wiki.cities.totl.net/index.php/Influences on our wiki (not yet linked in, but will be soon), to give fair and due props to urban dead. Cities is a friendly little cul-de-sac of a game, with only about 500 active users. It's run completely for fun and all costs are absorbed by the admins. It's probably distinctive in MMORPGs that it has more type of object than players. Over 1800 types of item last time I checked. I would appreciate the link remaining, as we tend to get a few quiet types who drift over when zombie apocalypse gets to much and they want a quiet, cheery sort of game. So I'd urge you to vote to keep the link, as it helps our community, and doesn't hurt yours. And the page is linked from, Category:Related_Games, which is a link from your wiki frontpage. To be honest, I can't see any reason not to merge it, as it's clearly another "inspired by", probably the oldest as urban dead was very new when I started on cities. If you want the stats, we recently celebrated the 3rd anniversary of leaving beta, and have 9843 registerd accounts of which about 500 played in the last week. The code-base stands at around 145,000 lines of code. And we've raised over 1000 pounds for charity by selling various boons and items.
