I've become less interested in this place lately and have gone pretty much inactive over the past couple of weeks. In the interests of not having a 'crat who isn't active enough in the community to really make appropriate judgments on A/RE and A/PM, I would like to step down from 'crat now. I'll stay on as a sysop for now (as I want to get the guides namespace fixed in my time,) and it's also obvious that inactive sysops aren't as bad as inactive crats.
I also apologize to the community for making them have two 'crat bids in (roughly) a month. I thought about leaving this a month for this reason, but talked myself out of it due to the torrent of A/RE bids that's soon to arrive ;). Linkthewindow Talk 13:49, 10 September 2009 (BST)

I'd like to suggest that we let swiers demotion to be ruled through his re-evalatuion. Demotion through inactivity main goal is to remove sysops who rule on vandal and misconduct cases, which were areas that swiers never had interest in. Swiers also had interest in the position for the tools that come together with it, so if he is to ever return to his duties as a contributor i believe he might need them. --People's Commissar Hagnat [talk] [wcdz] 16:13, 5 September 2009 (BST)

- Since Ross seems to have a revolving door on this sysop thing why bother to demote him? Why not just make him inactive? If he is going to come back in like 5 months or so what's the point? I like the kid, but this seems kind of silly to keep doing. He's never had a problem coming back either. He gets vouched right in.--– Nubis NWO 22:59, 16 August 2009 (BST)
- If someone wants to be demoted, they shouldn't have the crats stand in their way, IMO. Linkthewindow Talk 07:47, 17 August 2009 (BST)
- It's the sense of responsibility, if having it makes him come back and takes time from his finals, then I wouldn't feel in a position to question his decision. Either way, there's no point in forcing him to stay a sysop, its just stupid. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 08:20, 17 August 2009 (BST)
- My point is why make him jump through all the hoops again when all he really needs is a leave of absence? Just seems like it would be easier overall. That way we don't have 20 Ross sysop bids, too. :) --– Nubis NWO 13:14, 17 August 2009 (BST)

I'm sick of all the trolling, petty acts of vandalism and general flaming that makes up my days on the wiki. As such I'd like to request a demotion. It's making me cry.
On a more serious note. 9 Hours ago I got a phone call from a course coordinator confirming I'd got a place on the final year of a degree and wondering where I was. Which was interesting, as induction closed last week and no one had bothered telling me.
I'd like to thank you all for your time and patience, and encourage you to join St. Ferreol's Hospital Noise Abatement Society. At least I managed to sort out the Borehamwood namespace in my time.
I may come back in a couple of days for a ban on the account as well, but not yet. So just demotion. Please?

I am done with this place. Our userbase no longer support common sense, but like to have their hands tied to red tape. Long term users which should be helping newbies are harrasing them for shits and giggles. The administration staff which should be helping to bring peace and order to the community is shatered between bureaucrats (not the wiki position), weaklings, rebels without a case, and users which only use their position on their own benefit. It was fun being part of this community, but the fun is over and the only thing that is left is a constant annoyance that takes a lot of time to resolve. --People's Commissar Hagnat talk 14:55, 10 June 2008 (BST)

Well folks it's been one hell of a ride, but every ride must come to an end. I've decided the time for ending that ride is now. Since I consider myself to be a responsible Mod I decided the best thing I could do at this stage was let you guys know that I'll no longer be around so I'll need to be demoted so that someone else can bask in the fame/glory of Moddom. Again, it's been fun and I'm glad I was able to contribute to the UD Wiki as much as I was able to up until now. Good luck and keep up the great work. :) --Mobius 00:16, 16 April 2008 (BST)

I've been away for a long time. Haven't touched the game much at all, lost most contact with my groups. I'm out of touch with the community, and didn't highly use mod powers for a while before that. I'm not a big fan of the confrontational style of SysOp-ing that goes on. I wish we had remained moderators, with the attendant goals of politeness. I may return sometime, maybe even request promotion. But until then, I've been a supporter of getting rid of unused powers, and I'm going to voluntarily give up my own. --Darth Sensitive

Vista
I'm not going to be around for a long while. My work and private life is costing me enough problems that I don't fucking need to look for it here. I used to come here to unwind but lately that just ain't working for me anymore. I've had it up to here with the cliquish shit this wiki had become. As I won't be around I won't be a good bureaucrat or sysop so get rid of those for me will you, boxy? I doubt that I'll miss them if I return. And If I do It'll give me an excuse to actually try and have fun here, instead of being a janitor and professional nag.-- Vista +1 16:31, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- Id like to try and dissuade you, if i can. Vista, you are a great sysop (Way better than myself, and im not afraid to admit it). There is no need to quit just because you are sick of some drama. If its really getting to you, just take a month or two off and bask elsewhere while this all blows over and you regain your sanity. I hear real life is a good place to go, and if you are into reading, i have a number of book suggestions for you. - Djeez do I feel like a jerk for leaving this way. Although my temper got the better of me and I seriously regret it, it's really for the best. I'm chronically overworked and the stress is clearly showing. I simply can't contribute to the wiki in any meaningful way for a couple of months yet. I'm fine with me keeping my sysop status just in case although I wouldn't have minded having to re-earn it if/when I return. I'm trying to push some policies that I believe would be the best thing for the wiki. Not only the ones I currently posted, but more. Now, my detractors are insisting on false accusations that I act on my own interest and power hunger. No sweat: please demote me as I was planning to get demoted anyways, but after the policies were approved. If this gives them the power and credibility they need, and gives my opponents a little bit less to talk about, then consider it done, even if in the end I accomplish nothing. Gage
I no longer wish to be a sysop. My reasons are myriad, and main amongst them are the fact that I'm busy with college and I really don't have time to put up with the drama here. I worked hard on this wiki, and to tell you the truth I don't know why I did it. The entire time it felt like I was walking uphill in sand carrying heavy weights; progress was being made, but it would have been easier to just find another way to do it. I know I wasn't especially nice to a lot of people here, but you have to understand that I found the experience extremely frustrating. I can honestly say I wish I had never come here at all. I made enemies, that was never my intentions, though sometimes it might have seemed that way. And so, now, I owe a few people an apology:
First and foremost is MrAushvitz. I'm sorry for all the shit I put you through over your suggestions. That wasn't right of me. My behavior was inexcusable.
Labine50, I know we haven't gone at it in a while, but I still feel the need to set things right. I'm sorry for antagonizing you. That was not cool of me.
Last, but certainly not least is Matthewfarenheit; our conflict was long and stupid. As much as I'd love to blame you for it all, I know that I at least have to shoulder half of it, if not more. So I'm also sorry for that.
Sorry for feeding this drama filled hellhole guys. Though I told myself while I was doing it I was making a positive contribution, I don't know that I was anymore. And so, this is the time to step down. Farewell.--Gage 03:18, 10 May 2007 (BST)

Jedaz
Hey, I've decided that I want to be demoted. Lately I have been feeling that the wiki doens't have anything to offer me and it has often been a source of frustration. In between feeling like I don't get enough recognition to both normal users and moderators flaming (namely Cyberbobs) it's just no longer worth my time to even try any more. So, in short, I'm going to leave the wiki for who knows how long, and to avoid being surprised when someone finnaly gets the policy to remove inactive moderators powers I've just decided to get demoted now. - JedazΣT ΞD 05:39, 19 September 2006 (BST)
I don't think we should give him the dignity. I've been holding these in reserve, but here are screenies of two conversations Jedaz had on the Scroll Wars wiki.
Now, in light of that, can we really offer Jedaz the chance to honourably bow out? Cyberbob Talk 05:50, 19 September 2006 (BST)
Oh, and I like the little convo Gold Blade had with his "back rub buddies" about his attempts to "pull me down". Cyberbob Talk 05:52, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- You do realize that a links to the images better don't you? It doesn't confuse the conversation as much. Don't worry, I don't mind because no one noticed me so there isn't any honour built up to be lost. Also you've just helped prove my point on why I'm so sick of this wiki, and why I made those comments. Why should I help when all I get is un-supportive peers? - JedazΣT ΞD 05:57, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- If you feel so malicious towards us all, I see no reason why you should be allowed to leave on your own terms. Cyberbob Talk 06:00, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- I'm doing the responsible thing and chosing to leave this crap. I don't have to vandalise to make a point, although it is much more obvious if I do. Would you prefer if I just went and vandalised the wiki so that I'm kicked off? Geeze get over it, I'm going out this way, it's my choice. - JedazΣT ΞD 06:06, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- If you vandalise, the only difference will be that we won't have to wait for the policy to be passed. The end result will be the same as if you didn't vandalise, so it really makes no difference. Choose to leave if you wish. But you won't be doing it on good grace, not if I can help it. Cyberbob Talk 06:08, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- The difference is that with the policy I'll probably be perma-banned without doing anything, where as a normal user I could have two cases of vandalism and not have anything done to me. Either way I'm not going to vandalise, but I know that if I stay as a moderator I'll be the first burnt by this policy. Anyway, you can carry out your vendetta against me, but that doesn't prove anything other then you can't see when people are trying to make up for their mistakes. - JedazΣT ΞD 06:18, 19 September 2006 (BST)

Jedaz: I want to keep you on board if I can, because although you take a very behind-the-scenes role here, I think you are valuable as a moderator. Are you absolutely and completely sure that you want to be demoted? There is no precedent for moderators asking for demotion, so I want to be sure that you want this without a doubt. –Bob Hammero Mod•B'crat•T•A 06:49, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- Yes, I'm sure. I don't want to work in an enviroment where I feel that my peers don't trust me any more. If I do decide eventually that I may want to become a moderator again then I will go through the promotions page. Honestly, after over two months of moving suggestions, and not feeling recognised or supported by my peers, even some of them trying to take me down, I just want to get away from it all. Hence is why I'm asking for this demotion. - JedazΣT ΞD 06:58, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- I understand how you feel. Have you considered that the very area that you chose to focus on (maintaining the suggestions page) is probably the most thankless part of the wiki? Believe me, I'm grateful that you're there to do the job, and I'm sure other people would be as well if they had helped you with it before as well. Have you thought about taking a break and then trying a more active area of the wiki instead? –Bob Hammero Mod•B'crat•T•A 07:02, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- If you really want me to I can take a break, but I don't think it'll change how I feel. I wouldn't have any clue where else I could help out on the wiki as most of it's already covered by other users. If I decided to come back then the only thing I wouldn't really be able to do in relation to the suggestions system would be protecting the pages. Every other moderator functions are sufficiency covered. - JedazΣT ΞD 07:12, 19 September 2006 (BST)

Pending your response to Xoid, I will state my decision for the record: we cannot force someone to be a Moderator if he or she does not wish to fulfill the responsibilities carried by that role any longer. Just as desire to be a Moderator is a requirement for promotion, so should a later lack of that desire be grounds enough for demotion when requested. I believe that you should be demoted, in accordance with your request. –Bob Hammero Mod•B'crat•T•A 08:42, 19 September 2006 (BST)
