MIA

So, is there a point to keeping the Elias Taylor case there, seeing as how the edit wars have calmed down and that Taylor himself has been MIA since the start of the month... -Certified=InsaneQuébécois 20:38, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

An arbitration has commenced, and analogizing it to a legal action, both parties are entitled to a final ruling. My sense therefore is that the entries should remain until either 1) a ruling is issued or 2) enough time passes that we can be reasonably certain no final ruling will ever issue (i.e., Elias is gone gone gone or is not interested in arguing his side). I seem to recall Scinfaxi resurrecting a trip to Arby's after several weeks with no action. -- Atticus Rex mfu pif Δ 20:47, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Taylor has not made 1 edit on the wiki since arbitration has started. Therefore, no arbitrator was agreed upon, and no judgement can be brought. In fact, arbitration hasn't even started yet. -Certified=InsaneQuébécois 20:55, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
I agree with the first two statements. I disagree with the premise that arbitration hasn't started: the process was begun when you filed the complaint. I also disagree with the idea that no judgment can be rendered. In a court of record, when one party files a complaint, the opposing party has a statutory time limit to respond; if they fail to do so, the aggrieved party has the option of moving the tribunal for a default judgment (they get what they asked for). AFAIK, this community has set no time limit for responding to an arbitration request, but I think 20 or 30 days would be a reasonable period. Can anyone point me toward a different precedent? -- Atticus Rex mfu pif Δ 21:05, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
I say we move it to the archive and forget about it. This case never really got off the ground.--Gage 21:12, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
20 or 30 days seems reasonable. Might as well just make a judgement based on what's there, right now, and rule in favour of the party that bothered showing up. –Xoid MTFU! 03:18, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
