Hardcore opt in

Type: Skill
Scope: Newly zombified friends
Description: One of the most disappointing things about UD as a zombie apocalypse situation, is that when your best mate gets infected and stands up as a zombie, he very rarely eats your face, but rather, just peacefully shuffles off to a revive point. It's one of the mainstays of the zombie genre, that the most dangerous zombie, and the hardest one to kill, is always those you love.

Now, this is a real developing suggestion... it's only a thought at this stage, and I'm looking for as much different input as possible, especially in balancing trade offs, and working out ways to avoid "abuse" of such a system.

My original thought on how to make newly created zombies (survivors who have been killed by a zombie) act more like your typically instinctive, raging, killing machine, was to give them a fairly significant combat bonus against either:

  • their fellow group survivor members,
  • mutual contact list survivors, or
  • other survivors with the skill,

when they first stand up from being killed by a zombie.

I am tending towards going with the 3rd option, given that the first is abusable by people adding themself to a group for the attack bonuses against enemies, and the second is avoidable by removing friends from the contact list and using the metagame more (something I don't like to encourage).
