[edit] Journal

(The journal is pink with a white flower clasp. Many of the pages in front have been ripped out)

July 16, 2008: I am Private Dawar of the 69th Platoon. For all I know, I'm the last one. We have recently entered the Malton Infection Zone. I'm not sure whats going on, but, something is compelling these people to kill other people in cold blood. This isn't any normal killings either. I watched some of these attackers take an entire clip before they fell. Then more came...I got out alive, but most of the others...their screams still echo in my head. I lost my gun during the escape. All I have now is a flaregun, and there are a lot of them still outside. I'll stay here until they clear out.

July 16, 2008: I ran for what seemed like miles. Came arcoss a large community of survivors. I saw lights on, people moving inside. I tried to get in, banged on the doors, pleaded for help, but they wouldn't listen. I don't blame them. I wouldn't let anyone in while those things are still out there. Finally came across a church. Was able to climb the barricade and rest on a pew as I looked at the cross spraypainted on the wall. I may not be a man of faith, but wearing this cross around my neck may bring me some luck. The place seems pretty well barricaded, thought I'd read some of the entries in the book. Apparently, this book belonged to a little girl, a lot of stuff in here, mostly secrets. Took cookies without asking, likes this boy Tommy, average girl stuff I guess. What gets me is the last entry. She was going to the zoo, on the day of the outbreak. She may have made it out alive, but chances are shes one of them now. One of those things walking the streets looking for us.

July 17, 2008: I am now at the Screech Lane Police Station, just across the street from the church I stayed at last night. Lights are on, people are home, and theres not a single zombie on the street. Will be looking for guns and ammunition for the next couple of days. Lets hope the situation outside says that way. I could use the rest.

July 19, 2008: Over the past 2 days I've hit the motherload. The survivors were more than happy to share their ammunitions to a fellow human as long as I'm going to stay here and fight. I've picked up 4 loaded shotguns and a few extra shells, a flak jacket, a few more flareguns, a pistol with 3 shots left, and about 9 extra clips for it. Found a radio as well, only picking up some static, but theres a radio transmitter here, so I'll keep it just in case. I may leave the safety of the buildings soon, need to look for whats left of my platoon.
