Yo.

Name's J Lurhstaap R, probably one of the most thoroughly addicted players of UD in existence. Even after a year or more of being too absorbed in RL to play, I still keep finding myself coming back to it and wanting to play more, more, more...

A gigantic no-holds-barred cage-match with IRL has kept me away, but I've returned and I honestly can't wait to spend thirty MORE dollars to get the IP-lock off the rest of my characters. I'm completely pathetic. But I love this damn game. It's both inspiring and entertaining, and it's CONSISTENTLY so. Consistency is hard to find. So I'm sticking with it.

If anyone is worried about zerging/multi-abuse, I keep a list of all my characters, their current status, location, and activities at the bottom. If you think you see me doing anything inappropriate, check this list. If the character isn't on the list, it's not my alt. My alts should all have my name in them anyway... but 'forgetful' is an understatement.

Speaking of which, I try to keep them all in their own separate areas but sometimes they wander into each others' suburbs without me realising it until it's too late. But you will never, ever see one of my characters raise, heal, defend, or kill another. I wish the zerging rules didn't have to be implemented so severely, as it means I can, for example, only ever have one character in a given group I happen to like to RP with, at least in UD itself. I wish people could be trusted not to ruin shit for other people. Obviously, however, they cannot, so I'm not exactly crusading to change the rules either.

I have my own little permutation of the UD storyline/concept in my head. It's sort of like UD meets Dean Koontz in one of his weirder moods. If you're interested in RPing slightly AU UD, contact me immediately.

I have kept a sporadic, sometimes embarassingly candid and poorly written, but nevertheless interesting journal on behalf of my primary character, Jack Knifesmile, over on the Survivor Diaries. Here's a link for anyone who's curious.

CONTACT INFO

For those wanting to get contact with me outside UD:

For messengers, I use only AIM and that very rarely; InToothAndClaw.

I can be Gmailed under oc.delve.

On LiveJournal, I am dacnomaniac.

Anyway...

I'm 24, I live in the SF Bay Area, and I'm not especially good at self-description. I am guided by strange and contradictory impulses and instincts. In terms of viewpoint and approach to the world, I am both a scientist and a shaman. It's not difficult at all to reconcile. They are, in fact, one and the same. But that's irrelevant. As far as UD is concerned, I play zombies and survivors with equal glee and relish. My characters are *not* for zerging; I've been roleplaying for literally half my life. I am a *slave* to the IC/OOC boundary. Even in a game like UD, I can't make them do things they wouldn't do. So you might see, say, Justis using all his FAKs on other people, yet Delacroix never heals anyone but himself or an actual teammate.

I also go out of my way to avoid doing anything remotely zergy. I do *not* use my own alts to revive, heal, XP-farm, et cetera.

However, every now and again, I will sometimes become confused as to where characters are, and accidentally involve a zombie character and a human character in the same skirmish. I've never actually killed myself, but I have logged in and been VERY surprised at the location of a character. "I was just here!"

In any event, safehouse-sharing probably won't happen unless I happen to stumble onto pockets of interesting RP. I happen to be more familiar with some suburbs than others, and I'll tend to spend most of my time there, but I also like to go where the action is, whether that's good hunting or RP. And of course, I don't want to trigger the AZCM. ;p You'll be hard-pressed not to stumble over me somewhere ...

Characters

PAID --

Jack Knifesmile
Location: Chancelwood
Status: Alive.
Class: Scout (8)
Notes: Returned to a self-insert again. I'm not sure I'm going to continue with the RetGen-AntEv characters. I love them, but I don't really think anyone else is interested. If I'm wrong I'll gladly change it back.

Orcell Vaolos
Location: Galbraith Hills
Status: Dead, though mrh?ing as I type this. May or may not be successful.
Class: NecroTech (6)
Notes: I may take him to Yagoton.

Justis
Location: Judgewood
Status: Dead. Awaiting revive.
Class: Police (10)
Notes: One of the Young at Brentnall Grove.

Leland Delacroix
Location: Heytown
Status: Alive.
Class: Soldier (6)
Notes: This guy might PK if he spots someone alone and wounded and/or the idea crosses his mind. I usually don't allow him to, but with this note up, I also give everyone else permission to pre-emptively add him to watchlists -- Kill On Sight is too much as he doesn't do it often, but he definitely deserves to have an eye kept on him. ICA=ICC.

Bubh
Location: Edgecombe
Status: Dead.
Class: Corpse (5)
Notes: This is a dedicated zombie character, but sometimes I like to play him as a human. If I've left him sitting at a revive point, I probably want him revived, but I also won't be too angry if you skip him. Bubh was my very first UD character.

DragonSeeds
Location: Mornington
Status: Dead.
Class: Corpse (3)
Notes: Technically this one is a devoted zombie too, but he is fun to play as a survivor as well, at least from an RP standpoint.

Wolf Sigil
Location: Yagoton
Status: Alive.
Class: Scout (3)
Notes: Another RetGen-AntEv character I may or may not continue playing as such. So is Leland, actually ... maybe I should go back to Urban Dead Diaries, or whatever it was, and write more on RetGen-AntEv there and see if people get into it?

UNPAID

A Coydog
Location: Pashenton
Status: Dead. Revive would be appreciated.
Class: Scout (3)
Notes: Yes, it's a dog. A zombie dog, at the moment. If you want to bitch at me about this, plz see Epic of War's notes below and save both of us some time. :D

Epic of War
Location: Jensentown
Status: Alive.
Class: Soldier (3)
Notes: His actual name is Whitelight. IC, he's an undead wolf who's enraged at all humanity for keeping him in a zoo for his whole life, and then instead of thanking him for his sacrifice and setting him free, he had to escape and then, roaming the streets and desperately lonely, he approached a human for companionship, wagging his tail, and was shot in the head for his trouble. He almost has two personalities ... when he gets revived, he reverts to his original personality, though he's still very wary of people carrying guns, and tends to gravitate toward scientist and doctor-looking characters because those are the type who tend to bring him back to life. When he dies, though, he reverts straight to type and goes on the warpath. Very angry character. Very fun character. And I'm going to keep playing him until someone gives me a *very* good reason that the same virus that raises human dead wouldn't raise, at a minimum, a variety of advanced species. Especially given that it's inarguably communicable to and carriable by at least some, if not most, species that cohabitate with humans, because species that cohabitate tend to carry each other's diseases and are often susceptible to them to one degree or another. And frankly, only Kevan gets to determine absolutely how the virus works anyway, so without word from him, either your characters have been blowing their experiments somehow or there's something special about Whitelight. So to everyone who's whined at me about Whitelight: nyyaaah. ;p

Red Chikatilo
Location: Huntley Heights
Status: Alive.
Class: Soldier (1)
Notes: Bad cannibal. Very bad cannibal. No brains for you.

Gunmetal Ghost
Location: Crowbank
Status: Alive.
Class: Soldier (8)
Notes: His real name is Brian Roberts, but he doesn't acknowledge it anymore. He died in the first outbreaks and spent roughly six weeks or so wandering around as a zed before an old friend happened to run into him, recognise him, and lead him to someone who could revive him. Since then, he's spoken very, very little and refused to answer to his real name, insisting that Brian is dead. When confronted with the obvious fact of his existance, he says he's Brian's ghost, as when Brian died he wasn't able to find his way out of this world, and so that's why he's still here. Given the psychological damage six weeks of continual undeath wreaked on him, he really is only a ghost of his former self anyway. So, "Ghost" it is. Oddly, though, he's been killed a few times since his first revive, and when dead, he refers to himself as 'Bubh' and will only reply to that name. His friend's best guess is this is a corruption of 'Bob'. Since the RetGen-AntEv 'storyline' is "paused", his 'friend' is currently anonymous and missing. If I do permanently kill it, it would be really awesome if someone else picked up the role of Ghost's friend.

BeQuickOrBeDead
Location: Tollyton
Status: Dead, standing at a revive point. Lots of ZKing going on here...
Class: NecroTech (3/1))
Notes: Call him Quick, not 'Dead' or 'Be'. For gossakes.

Alloy Dragonbronze
Location: Spracklingbank
Status: Dead.
Class: Firefighter (2)
Notes: A revive would be nice if you run across him.

Mick Sorrel
Location: Shuttlebank
Status: Dead.
Class: Civilian (1)
Notes: OOCly I'd like a revive, but ICly he probably deserves to stay dead.

Massive update-edit complete! Still considering making individual character pages, but I have to wonder how many people actually do that. --J Lurhstaap R 01:15, 30 July 2007 (BST)
