Thanks for coming to this quick meeting of the Rodman Boulevard Police Department. I wanted to make a Wiki page so I wouldn't have to spent about 100 AP explaining the plan. (And thanks for ignoring my silly character description long enough to read this page!)

In a Nutshell

A small group of about 8 LUE zombies are coming to get us. They'll probably hit us today - maybe later tonight. Zombies cannot lose; they can only win or get bored. I suggest in turn we apply River Tactics and make a strategic retreat all at the same time to Sixtus General Hospital at 22:00 GMT (17:00 EST), hopefully leaving them without any survivors to kill.

What's Going to Happen

I don't know if you guys have noticed, but the small LUE strikeforce has marched from Witchell Street Police Department to Binning Way Police Department and ruined them both in a matter of about 3 days. After doing a quick runabout to see who's out there and what's going on, as of 13:30 GMT (08:30 EST) there are 3 zeds outside our building, 4 still in Binning Way, and a few others running about here and there (and 2 people possibly needing revives are in the pointless Prigg Alley RP, which really shouldn't be an RP). Their tactics are going to be simple: they will strike at us from Binning, holding Binning so we can't retake it. They probably expect us to try to retake Binning and hold out for as long as we can.

Zombies cannot lose; they can only quit or get bored. (That's why so many people play zombies: they enjoy winning.) They will eventually win against us in this situation because they will make coordinated attacks, breach our 'cades repeatedly, kill a few folks here and there, and cause the rest of us to run. Then, it'll be down to 2 or 3 survivors, and they'll march in and ruin the place. They've done this zillions of times already. It's a simple strategy and it WORKS.

Why It's Going to Happen

This group is a LUE strike team. They are good and well-coordinated. They have good tactics and they coordinate their attacks. It -is- possible for us to retake Binning and hold it for a while, and basically go back and forth. However, it will be extremely hard to do so, especially for those of us in Rodman PD right now. Guys, I've checked all our profiles, and let's face it: we suck! There's only a dozen of us, and in contrast to them, the highest level among us is 15 - most of us are under level 5. We're a bunch of newbs, and without the necessary skills it will be almost impossible for us to retake and hold these two PDs. (Not to mention: do ANY of us even HAVE a toolbox yet?)

What We Should Do

The best thing for our small group of newbs to do right now is NOT to make a stand. We should try to keep the 'cades at EHB at all times, logging in as often as you can for the next few hours. Do NOT go out and engage them. Remember, the BEST course of action during a seige is: 'Cade, Heal, Kill, Dump. For those of us with Construction, keep the 'cades up, and for everone else, keep the halls clear (kill, dump), keep everyone's health up, and save your AP.

Then, today/night at 22:00 GMT (that's 10pm in England and 5pm on the East Coast of the US), we all make a run for Sixtus General Hospital. I've just checked, and it's currently at EHB, but for those of us with Free Running, the Boode Place Fire Station next door is only at VSB and can be used as an entry point. For those without Free Running, just go to the Fire Station. This Fire Station is 3 South and 1 East. You will need at least 5 AP, but I'd try to save around 10, just incase some ass has over-'caded the station and we need to look around a bit.

If we time it correctly, we'll save all of our lives, reinforce another Tactical Resource Point, and frustrate the zombies. (I may even spray-painting something annoying on the wall before we go.) They'll bust down the door only to find NO easy kills in sight. Sure, they'll get the PD, but they won't get any of US, which is WAY more important. We can always retake the PD later when they've gotten bored and left. But getting revived right now REALLY SUCKS because the zombies really have things in their favor at the moment.

Why 22:00 GMT?

I honestly expect the zombies to come earlier than that. I think they're striking around 18:00 GMT and 00:00 GMT. However, I want to give as much time as possible for all of you guys to see this message. So I'm waiting until I think they'll make their biggest push - tonight around 00:00 GMT. It's a total guess, but then again 22:00 is pretty random, too.  :)

Why This Works

Zombies are only interested in OFFENCE. They are always on the attack because that's more fun. They are not interested in holding territory (with some notable exceptions - see the RRF and Extinction). Therefore, if we can make their attacking less fun (fewer kills for them) and then retake the territory when they've gone, the end result is that WE still have territory and THEY are getting bored. This is our only real weapon against zombies: ennui. We cannot "win," and they cannot "lose." But if the good, coordinated guys all get bored and quit, we'll only have to worry about ferals - and we can defend against ferals.

Sign up on this page to acknowledge your agreement if you'd like, but otherwise I'm going to assume everyone is in on the plan. If you miss out, I'm really sorry - I tried to wait as long as I could. Join us near the hospital and maybe you'll get a revive in time to help out on the next one. If you disagree, then feel free to stay and trenchcoat your life away: you won't actually be helping anyone, though, and the more you die the more time you're wasting for everyone.

Update

Well, it's almost 18:00 GMT (13:00 EST), and they are certainly hitting the 'cades. I've thrown all the AP I can spend keeping them high, but they're still only at "heavily." Please keep them as high as you are able. evilbob 17:55, 24 August 2007 (BST)

2nd Update

Well, it's 22:00 GMT and as not a single person has either a) responded to this message or b) left the station, I must concede that this plan has been a complete and total failure.  :) However, if even one survivor was assisted by this plan (not likely), at least some measure was made. evilbob 22:11, 24 August 2007 (BST)

3rd Update

Well, my prediction came true. Early the next day, I went back to check and found the entire building ruined and about a dozen dead bodies in the streets. Someone was even nice enough to take a picture of it happening, to show others what was going on and where the easy kill was. I only wish there would have been an better way to get the guys' attention besides shouting the URL of this page when no zombies were around. Then again, maybe most of these guys were trenchcoaters (I know one is), and so they just ignored my attempt to help them. It doesn't really matter. In the end, twelve more bodies fed the horde's XP gains and we lost a building until they get bored and leave. Maybe one day it'll be easier for survivors... evilbob 17:06, 27 August 2007 (BST)
