Jebediah H. Grumwalski was a bicycle repair man before the outbreak. His great-great-grandmother owned one of the first bicycle shops in Malton during the 1910's. The shop, situated in Jensentown, then a quaint village in a forest outside main Malton, did very well.

The family's fortunes started to go down in the 30's after some of Grumwalski grandfather's ill-fated business decisions (like failing to predict the prevalence of the horse-drawn zeppelin). The Grumwalskis finally lost ownership of their shop in the economic crisis that hit Malton in the 70's. Grumwalski had to watch the shop that one day would be his, sold to the family's long time competitors and bicycle moguls, the Alexejevitchs.

Humiliated, Grumwalski swore to regain the family's pride. After overcoming his blackboard-marker sniffing addiction, he was employed in a bicycle shop in Wykewood and started to raise money to buy the historical shop back. The shop had come in the mean time to the hands of Pyotr Alexejevitch, a snob aesthete, who was disinterested in business (much less bicycle business) and was about to sell the shop and move to the Bermudas to become a shoe designer.

The quarantine was placed in Malton the morning Grumwalski went to meet Pyotr to sign the contracts. Walking into his arch-rival's shop he found him behind a bloodied counter merrily munching the brains of a puppy. 'Grramwaaask!' said Pyotr and started to come around the counter in a deadly parody of a hug.

Grumwalski screamed and stabbed Pyotr in the brain through the left eye with a bike steering wheel replacement, before running out the door into an increasingly panicking city.

His dream lost, Grumwalski fights the zombie hordes that robbed him of his bicycle shop. He has not lost his hopes that one day the infection will be defeated and that the shop can be in his family again..
