User:Iscariot/Historical Groups
From The Urban Dead Wiki
The policy for Historical Groups is very clear:
- Within two weeks of a nomination, the group must be approved by 2/3 of the voters, with a minimum of 15 voters for a nomination to pass. The only allowable votes are Yes and No
Accordingly groups that in this category without passing a successful vote are in breach of policy, either through incompetence, misuse of the template or sysop favouritism.

[edit] Inevitable whining
Eh? What?
- We used to have something called Crit 12, it mean that inactive groups were deleted from the wiki, to prevent this groups consider important, but inactive were deleted unless they were deemed Historical as this policy. Before this policy, everyone and their uncle could put the template on their pages. Then great wisdom came about that diskspace = cheep and Crit 12 was banished from our sight.
So?
- So we have a mix of non-voted and voted groups in the category, this is a double standard. Double standards are bad, but often occur on this wiki in situation involving the admin team.
You want to delete these groups?
- Grow up, no-one's saying delete them. We don't delete groups that are inactive on this wiki. However we have other categories to show that they are no longer active.
So what would change?
- The groups would have their pages and talk pages unprotected and the Historical Group templates removed.
But then they could be vandalised!
- So could any active group on this wiki, or any inactive group that's not currently protected. Vandalism of inactive groups isn't exactly a common thing. The major reason that group pages are vandalised is due to current in-game actions. Most people aren't even going to have had contact with the groups that will be unprotected.
So you don't think they're worthy of historical status?
- Do you know who you're talking to? There are a lot of groups on there that will easily pass if put to the vote, but they should be made to go through the process like every other group has for better or worse.
