Major. Andrew Trinh (Andrewzz) Race: Human Chinese Age: 13 years old(Turning 14, 2009) Personality: Very moody and sort of a quiet type of person who tends to get anxious. Andrew is an Anti-social young teenager who often ends up in a frenzy during battle, despite how frenzied, bloodthirsty and ferocious he can be, he's a strange person that is greatly misunderstood. Deep down he is actually very faithful, compassionate, sweet, and kind once others get to know him, not only that but he can be naive, gullible, indecisive and shy. Andrew misses both his family and extended family, which can cause pain to his mind and likes to be alone for a moment to think about them. Andrew tends to be lonely in his entire life, which causes him to be bitter about himself, that he has to suffer such misfortune. Because of this, it has filled him with strong hatred, and with a strong burning determination to survive and become stronger. When enraged, he can be become a brutal and raging force to his foes, but tends to hold his rage unless it's needed, such as to protect those he cares for. While in his spare time, he likes to write his diary about his feelings and what has happened. Also suffers from trauma filled with guilt and hatred from his past

Favorite Weapon: Chinese Dao, twin hunting knives and the use of Martial Arts

De Aleksandr

Age: 22

Personality: Very quiet, usually only speaks to say something completely random or to give out orders and inspirational speeches. Distrusts most of Humankind, though he doesn't really act like it, but still wishes to destroy zombies, he'll be one his own most of the time though. Can be suicidal at times and always acts with no regard to his health. "Suffers" from rampant schizophrenia.

Favorite Weapon: Fireaxe, good for cutting down the hordes

David

-tall, lean, quite, calm disposition. wearing a black trench coat, combat boots, and a fedora (fedoras are awesome) carries a sledgehammer, a crossbow, and a Kbar.

i know a lot of that stuff isn't in Urban Dead, but who doesn't wanna beat a zombie's head in with a sledgehammer?

Hellkite

Age: 22

Personalty: Hes quiet and always seems to be wearing a sly half grin, he doesn’t take orders well preferring to work things his own way but he will follow orders when they are given by a person he respects or when he things they are better than his plan. Hes stubborn but he is ever the optimist knowing the night is darkest just before the dawn. This is perhaps his most endearing and most aggregating trait. Though he belongs to the RGOW and the Thundercats he tends to range far from home to help others whether its hunting zombies or provided heals and revives to fixing buildings. All the time a black and mild cigar stub clenched at the corner of his mouth Favorite Weapon: His favorite weapon Is the "revolver"

Stephen

Age: ???

Stephen is a former worker at NecroTech, who has followed the team since episode 3. He was one of the chief scientists in the reanimation process, and one of the only surviving chief scientists in the plague.

Episode 1: Red Guards

  • It’s early in the morning in Williamsville, the sun shines, and the zombies roam the street. Joshua Kennedy just wakes up, rubs his eyes, then grabs his rucksack and enters the main part of Dibbings Plaza Police Station.*

WALDEN: *Turns head* ‘Mornin’ Josh!

JOSHUA: Hi Walden, you seen De lately?

WALDEN: Yeah, but why do you still follow him, the MSLF broke apart.

JOSHUA: Well, yeah, but the RGOW are forming from the ashes, tell Duncan that I ate his last piece of pizza.

WALDEN: You had the munchies again, didn’t you?

JOSHUA: Yup... By the way, have you seen Ashley?

WALDEN: Yeah, she’s upstairs, I think she was replenishing her ammo.

JOSHUA: Thanks, I’ll see you later.

  • Joshua walks upstairs, he finds Ashley Woods putting ammo and supplies into her inventory*

JOSHUA: Morning Ash.

ASHLEY: Oh, hey Josh.

JOSHUA: Say Ashley, have you seen De lately?

ASHLEY: Yeah, I think he went outside with Andrew, probably seeing who could kill the most zombies.

JOSHUA: Thanks Ash, I’ll be back soon.

ASHLEY: Take care, Josh.

  • Joshua starts to walk downstairs, two policemen notice him walking down*

POLICE#1: Hey, what’s that guy’s problem?

POLICE#2: Oh him? He’s been down ‘cause he lost his wife and kid in the outbreak, we had to force him into the building or he may have gotten killed out there. Poor guy, it was his 5th day in the force.

POLICE#1: Dude, that’s horrible.

POLICE#2: I know... he’s been kinda like that throughout these dark times.

  • Joshua walks out the door, he hears gunshots. He looks down the street and sees muzzle flash. Joshua walks closer

to inspect.*

ANDREW: *slashes the zombie with his Chinese Dao(Sabre)* 35

DE ALEKSANDR: *bang bang* 36

ANDREW: How many more do you see?

DE ALEKSANDR: Not many...

JOSHUA: Guys, what are you doing?

ANDREW: Killing zeds.

JOSHUA: You think we should get back to the Bullor Arms and discuss important things, *bang* these zeds are getting on my nerves.

DE ALEKSANDR: Shh, you see that?

  • Andrew and Joshua look north, they see a countless number of zombies*

ANDREW: Woah...

JOSHUA: That’s a lotta zeds,

DE ALEKSANDR: I think the Mall Tour is back.

JOSHUA: Not good, how much ammo you guys got?

ANDREW: Not enough.

DE ALEKSANDR: Retreat to Dibbings Plaza!

JOSHUA: Let’s hope this isn’t like last time.

  • Everybody runs to Dibbings, they make it through the door and immediately start to barricade.*

ASHLEY: Hey, what’s going on?

ANDREW: The Mall Tour is back.

WALDEN: Oh, crap, not again!

ASHLEY: This isn’t gonna be pretty.

WALDEN: *whispering to Joshua* Are you sure she’s gonna be alright?

JOSHUA: I don’t know but I have to get her out of here.

ASHLEY: Get me where?

JOSHUA: Ashley, do you know the free running paths?

ASHLEY: Yes, but-

JOSHUA: Take the path to Buttonville, and stay in the police station until I get there, alright?

ASHLEY: Alright, but what about you?

WALDEN: Trust him, Ash, he’s been through worse.

ANDREW: Indeed, De, what do we do now?

DE ALEKSANDR: Let’s get to the Bullor Arms, we need to call an emergency meeting.

JOSHUA: You guys go ahead, I gotta do a few things to do here.

ANDREW: Alright, see ya there!

  • Andrew and De make their way to the Bullor Arms, Ashley starts moving east, Joshua heads for Chief Duncan’s office.*

DUNCAN: Zzzzzz...

JOSHUA: *bursts through the doors* Duncan!

DUCAN: Wah- oh, don’t scare me like that, Kennedy.

JOSHUA: Chief, The Mall Tour is coming again, you need to evacuate the place.

DUNCAN: What, leave Dibbings and just waltz over to hell knows where you’re gonna take us!?!

JOSHUA: There isn’t any hope of defending these walls! You have to get the men out of here.

DUNCAN: Where would we go?

JOSHUA: Buckley Mall, we need to defend it, until then it’ll be a safe haven for the unarmed.

DUNCAN: Josh, you know I can’t do that.

JOSHUA: What? Why not?

DUNCAN: I’m going to stay and help defend this point.

JOSHUA: Just listen, if you stay here many good men are going to die, you can’t-

DUNCAN: Those are my orders, Kennedy. We’ll defend here until we’re forced to retreat.

JOSHUA: *sigh* Yes sir.

  • Joshua exits the office*

WALDEN: So, what’s the verdict?

JOSHUA: He wants us to stay here until we’re forced to retreat.

WALDEN: What? We’re dead, man.

JOSHUA: That’s why I told Ash to get out while she can.

WALDEN: What’re you gonna do?

JOSHUA: I’m gonna go to the Bullor Arms, see what the Red Guards plan on doing.

  • After a long time of free running, Joshua makes it to the Bullor Arms.*
  • Joshua walks into the meeting room, inside the room are De, Andrew, Ty, David, Mattheezy and Hellkite.*

TY: As we know, The Mall Tour is back, and Buckley Mall is in the path of fire. Hence forth, we will now commence OPERATION RED TOUR. Noting that Joshua has been ordered by Duncan to stay in Dibbings Plaza, everybody else should make for Buckley and fortify the area.

DAVID: Are you sure you’ll be fine, Josh?

JOSHUA: No, but I’ll be there in at least two days if I am, If you want to check up on me, call my phone.

ANDREW: Still, the extra manpower would be appreciated. What’s the current status of the mall barricades?

DE ALEKSANDR: EHB

TY: Alright, that’s helpful.

MATTHEEZY: Shouldn’t we try recruiting random survivors to join the cause, which should make things a whole lot easier.

TY: There’s no time, we need to get our supplies and reinforce the mall now!

JOSHUA: On my way, I can take a few survivors from Dibbings over to help.

DAVID: Great, I’ll take refuge inside of the mall, probably in the electronics area.

TY: Yeah, I’m gonna hit the police station adjacent to Buckley.

JOSHUA: I’m gonna be in the police station if I make it, so I’ll try to catch up with Ty.

ANDREW: It’s settled then... and Hellkite...

HELLKITE: Hm?

ANDREW: Can you just do things our way for once in your life?

HELLKITE: *Smirks* I’ll take that into consideration...

TY: *whisper* I’ve heard that before.

DE ALEKSANDR: I have more pressing matters at hand, Andrew, Ty, take control of this operation.

TY/ANDREW: Will do/Alright.

JOSHUA: You know we’re taking on hundreds of zeds, right?

ANDREW: Yeah, but we have to do the most we can to keep the mall and entry points up and running.

TY: So, objectives being stated, we make leave ASAP. *exits room*

DAVID: Alright, I’m off. *exits room*

HELLKITE: *exits room with a smirk across face*

DE ALEKSANDR: Alright, I’m counting on you. *exits room*

JOSHUA: I’ll see you at Buckley.

ANDREW: Josh...

JOSHUA: Yeah?

ANDREW: Do us a favor and please get to the mall, and I would prefer it being human.

JOSHUA: Don’t worry Andrew, I’ll be fine. *exits room*

  • Joshua makes his way back to Dibbings Plaza. There he sees that everyone is packing up and getting ready to

retreat when the situation seems grim.*

WALDEN: *sitting on a box*

JOSHUA: Hey, Walden, you gonna blow this place?

WALDEN: Nah, I’m sticking here ‘til the zeds push up past the second line.

JOSHUA: Second line?

WALDEN: First line is the front door, second is the staircase to the second floor, we’ll be shooting them through the holes in the barricade.

JOSHUA: Just like Gell Lane Fire Depot back in ’07, eh?

WALDEN: Yeah.

JOSUHA: Except this might be a little messier

DUNCAN: Okay men, get in your positions, I want one person per squad watching the barricades, and take turns so you can get some shuteye. We have to hold this point, we can’t let the entry points fall to the zeds.

JOSHUA: What about plans for evac?

DUNCAN: If the situation is lost, take the free running path outta here.

WALDEN: Great, so defend and retreat if the zeds break through?

JOSHUA: No, we defend until they break through.

WALDEN: Yup, just like Gell Lane in ‘07.

JOSHUA: This isn’t going to end well.

  • Joshua and Walden take position in the Main Area, and get some sleep while one of their comrades keeps lookout.*

SEVEN HOURS LATER

  • Joshua and Walden still sleep, while another officer helps man the watch post.*

WATCH#1: Hey, Jimmy, you still awake?

WATCH#2: Yeah, just keep watching that door.

WATCH#1: But it’s so boring...

WATCH#2: I know, but our shift is almost over, just watch that barricade so we can get outta this-

WATCH#1: Shhhhhhhhh, you hear that?

  • A large bang hits the barricade*

ZOMBIE: *Deep Bellowing Groan*

WATCH#1: ZEDS!!!!

  • Everyone wakes up from the shots of gunfire, Joshua and Walden pull out their pistols and start firing at zombies.*

DUNCAN: Open fire!!!

JOSHUA: *bang bang bang bang* Hold you ground!

WALDEN: *Bang bang* Yeah, this is exactly like Gell Lane of ’07! *bang bang*

POLICE#1: *bang bang* They’re getting through!!

POLICE#2: Shut up and fire! *bang*

POLICE#3: Crap, how many are there?

POLICE#1: I don’t know, just plug ‘em! *bang bang*

  • Barricade starts to crack*

JOSHUA: Everyone get clear of the barricade!

  • The barricade falls, the zombies open the doors and come through the windows, flooding into the area*

JOSHUA: Retreat to the second line!

WALDEN: Fall back, fall back!

  • the group gets behind the second line fortification, some of the officers are trapped downstairs and are shown no

mercy from the zombies. Joshua pauses from hearing their screams. He has a miniature flashback of when he lost his wife and son in the early outbreak. Walden yells at him, but Joshua doesn’t here him for a few minutes.*

WALDEN: Joshua, c’mon man, get up!

  • Joshua gets up and pulls out his fire axe. He swings at zombies left and right.*

DUNCAN: C’mon, we can still win this battle!

  • Walden and Joshua pull up their shotguns and blast the group of zombies.*

POLICE#4: *bang* They’re coming up, hold them back- aaaah! *a zombie pulls him into the crowd.*

JOSHUA: *bang bang* It’s time. Everyone! Fall back! Make way to Buckley Mall in Buttonville!

DUNCAN: Kennedy! What are you doing!?!

JOSHUA: Saving their lives!

DUNCAN: I’m not abandoning my station!

JOSHUA: And I’m not abandoning my friends!

DUNCAN: ...

JOSHUA: If you want to stay here, fine, but I’m getting these men out of here. Everyone, take the free running path to the east!

DUNCAN: ...you go ahead, I’ll hold them back.

WALDEN: Are you nuts? They’ll slaughter you!

DUNCAN: You two do what you have to do, I’m gonna hold them.

JOSHUA: ... Duncan...

DUNCAN: Go, go!

JOSHUA: ...you’re either the bravest or stupidest man I’ve ever known... Everyone, fall back to Buckley Mall.

WALDEN: What about Duncan?

JOSHUA: He knows what he’s doing.

WALDEN: ... Everyone make way to Buttonville!

  • The remainder of the force follows Joshua and Walden out of the Police Depot via free running path, Duncan pulls

out a flare gun as zombies draw nearer.*

DUNCAN: Give ‘em hell Josh... you always knew the right thing to do... *Pops flare gun.*

  • The flare hits the generator, the generator bursts into flames and explodes, killing every zombie inside and a few

in front of the depot. Joshua and Walden look back.*

WALDEN: Duncan!!!

JOSHUA: ...!

WALDEN: No...

JOSHUA: He’s saved our lives.

WALDEN: C’mon, we have to leave.

JOSHUA: * starts walking* Goodbye, Duncan, sorry I couldn’t say goodbye.

5 hours later

  • The group enters Buttonville*

POLICE MAN: How long do we go?

JOSHUA: Until we hit the police station in Buttonville.

WALDEN: You think it’s over?

JOSHUA: No, it’s only just begun...

Episode 2: Farewell to Friends

  • Andrew and Ty make it to Garlick Square Fire Station, inside are mane refugees and pro survivor groups getting ready to defend Buckley Mall*

ANDREW: Hmm, last time I remember this place was a Police Station.

TY: Yeah, must’ve slipped our minds.

ANDREW: Yeah, lotta memories from last Mall Tour still haunt this place.

TY: But now there is even more trouble, just look around you. Most survivors here are unarmed or under equipped.

ANDREW: Yeah, let’s just hope we get reinforcements soon.

TY: Or this place is going to hell and worse.

ANDREW: Until then, we should garrison the area.

TY: Yeah.

  • Ashley sits in a corner, restless and worried. Ty notices her.*

TY: Hey Andrew, isn’t that the officer who is close friends with Josh and Walden?

ANDREW: Yeah, I saw her back at Dibbings.

TY: She looks down, c’mon, let’s go see what’s wrong.

  • Ty and Andrew walk up to Ashley.*

TY: Hello, my name is Ty, Ty Reaper.

ASHLEY: Oh, hello, nice to meet you.

ANDREW: I’m… Andrew Trinh.

ASHLEY: Hello.

TY: You looked worried.

ANDREW: You still worried about Josh?

ASHLEY: Yes, I always worry about him. The trouble he and Walden get into since we were children is staggering.

TY: Sounds like Josh to me.

ASHLEY: Yes, you must be close to him too… The point is I just fear losing both Josh and Walden.

TY: Knowing Josh, he probably is on his way here right now.

ANDREW: That’s probably the most likely thing for him to do.

ASHLEY: Well, it was nice meeting you two.

TY: Take care.

  • Andrew and Ty enter the mall to check on Mattheezy and David, they first come to the electronics store.*

DAVID: Hey guys, how’s it hangin’?

TY: Not to shabby, it looks as if the mall is already being looted for everything.

DAVID: Yeah, there are a whole lot of things to find here, if I were you, I’d snag a few supplies myself.

ANDREW: We have no time, have you seen Matt?

DAVID: Yeah, I think he was searching for weapons.

  • Andrew and Ty make their way to the weapons shop, there Mattheezy is rummaging through debris to find items.*

TY: Matt, you doing alright?

MATTHEEZY: I think there’s whole bunch of ammo in this store that’s just waiting to be found.

ANDREW: Yup, he’s doing alright.

TY: Just keep doing your thing man, by the way, have you seen Hellkite?

MATTHEEZY: Yeah, he doesn’t want to be bothered right now, but he’s in the lower section of the mall, Buttonville side.

ANDREW: Thanks Matt, take care.

MATTHEEZY: I think I found something!

  • Andrew and Ty look over the mall and make a rough map of the mall and it’s barricades.*

ANDREW: Okay, here’s the map *hands map to Ty.*

TY: *reviews map.* Okay, what do the green areas mean?

ANDREW: Those are the barricaded areas, all EHB.

TY: And the red in the south?

ANDREW: The weakest point in the barricading, a small area made mostly of 2 inch thick plaster.

TY: I’m guessing we should watch that area.

ANDREW: Yeah.

TY: Okay, we’ll set up a position for two-to-three people in each major section of the mall if Josh makes it here. I’ll go northwest, you can choose.

ANDREW: I think I’ll go with you.

TY: Alright, now let’s get back to the fire station and search for useful supplies.

ANDREW: Good idea.

TY: Something tells me this is gonna be a wild battle.

  • Andrew and Ty make their way back to Garlick Square Fire Station. After many hours of searching, they are counting up their supplies.*

TY: Okay, I found a flare gun, and a few extra pistol clips I snagged from the mall, and you?

ANDREW: I got a fire axe, a crowbar, and a baseball bat.

TY: hmm, doesn’t look like much help,

ANDREW: We’re just gonna have to make due with what we got.

TY: Looks like.

ANDREW: I'll search more upstairs.

TY: Alright.

  • A man enters the room, running and panting.*

MAN: Dibbings is overrun! The zeds have taken both entry points in Williamsville!

REFUGEE#1: What? Are you kidding me?

MAN: No, it’s true, you can see the flames from here!

REFUGEE#2: No way, this isn’t happening, we’re next!

REFUGEE#3: Oh crap, we’re gonna die!

ANDREW: Oh, crap…

TY: Josh…

ANDREW: No…

  • Ashley hears the news, and bursts into tears. Ty and Andrew are in shock, they thought Joshua could make it this

far, and have to assume the worst possible outcome. Joshua and Walden are, to their knowledge, dead.*

ANDREW: Oh man, this can’t be happening.

TY: I know it’s hard to get a firm grip on this reality, but Josh is most likely dead.

ANDREW: And to think we hadn’t met him until a few months ago.

TY: Friends come and go, but we have to deal with the current situation. Buckley is about to get hit, hard.

ANDREW: Yeah, let’s prepare for the worst to come.

  • David enters the room.*

DAVID: Hey guys, I got the news, so I guess Josh is gone.

TY: Maybe…

ANDREW: C’mon guys, don’t give up hope, he could still be alive and well.

DAVID: I wish it was that easy, Andy.

  • Mattheezy enters the room.*

MATTHEEZY: Please tall me this isn’t happening… please.

TY: You know we can’t say that, Matt.

MATTHEEZY: No way, he can’t just leave us like that!

DAVID: This isn’t by his own will you know!

TY: Hey, cool it guys, don’t let this put us at each others’ throats.

ANDREW: Ty’s right, you guys are really taking this too far!

  • David and Mattheezy pause, and take deep breaths. Eventually they blow off their steam.*

DAVID: So…

TY: …

ANDREW: …

MATTHEEZY: …

  • Over the ruckus, a few refugees converse.*

REFUGEE#4: Oh man, this isn’t gonna end well.

REFUGEE#5: Cheer up.

REFUGEE#4: How can I? We’re next in line to be ransacked!

REFUGEE#5::We have ample time to escape if things go from bad to worse.

REFUGEE#4: I can’t stay calm, it’s been days since I’ve seen any of my friends or family.

REFUGEE#5: I know, it isn’t the best of times.

REFUGEE#4: No, it is not.

REFUGEE#6: Something tells me we’re in for it.

ONE DAY LATER

  • Everybody wakes up. It’s morning, and still no sign of Joshua. Andrew wakes up, feeling sad. He gets up.*

ANDREW: *yawn*

  • Andrew rummages through some debris and doesn’t find anything useful, so he continues on to another part of the building.*

ANDREW: *Walks over to a window and looks outside, doesn’t see much of anything down in the street.*

  • After searching aimlessly, Andrew returns to the main part of the building to meet with Ty.*

TY: Good morning Andrew.

ANDREW: Have you seen Ashley around?

TY: Yeah, she went into the same corner as yesterday, she looked very sad.

ANDREW: Yeah, I wouldn’t blame her, she lost two close friends in one day.

TY: Have you seen Hellkite lately?

ANDREW: He’s still in the mall last I checked.

TY: Should I?

ANDREW: No…

TY: … Guess you’re right.

ANDREW: …

TY: …

  • Andrew continued to walk through the building. Nobody said a word. He soon came around and saw Ashley, still crying, in the corner. He again said nothing. Through the hours, Andrew could only remember the family he probably might not ever see again.*
  • David soon comes across Andrew.*

DAVID: Hey Andy, you alright?

ANDREW: I’m not entirely sure David.

DAVID: Listen, I know the battle of Williamsville is lost, but I still have hope that Josh made it out of the battle alive.

ANDREW: I do too, but hope is just not enough to ensure his safety

DAVID: …

ANDREW: I also hope that we can hold the mall, but that won’t stop any zeds.

DAVID: I know, but it just feels better that I hope for my friends.

ANDREW: … The same goes for me…

  • Andrew continued his search into the mall, finding ammo and a first aid kit. Eventually he comes back to Garlick Square Fire Station to rest.*

ANDREW: …

HELLKITE: You look like you haven’t slept well…

ANDREW: I didn’t, but I didn’t think you cared about my resting habits.

HELLKITE: I don’t…

ANDREW: Yeah, always a pleasure talking to you, Hellkite.

HELLKITE: *smirks, and walks away.*

ANDREW: *sigh*

TY: Hey Andrew.

ANDREW: Hello, Ty…

TY: I think we have enough supplies to maintain the mall.

ANDREW: Sounds good to me.

TY: Yeah, but we need some reinforcements if we ever plan on living.

ANDREW: How many are in the mall?

TY: Including us and everybody here in Garlick Square, about 170 survivors

ANDREW: Yeah, it’s just short.

TY: I’m gonna be in the mall.

ANDREW: Alright, see ya.

  • Andrew moves to the main part of station after Ty departs. Apparently there’s a big fuss going on, and Andrew moves closer to inspect.*

MAN#1: Are you serious?

MAN#2: No way!

MAN#3: This is Awesome!

MAN#4: Woo-hoo!

MAN#5: Yeah, we’re gonna make it!

ANDREW: Hey, what’s going on?

MAN#3: Some forty survivors from Williamsville made it over here!

MAN#4: This is gonna be so awesome!

ANDREW: Williamsville!?!

  • Andrew rushed over to see them for himself. He saw many police officers and firemen. He looked through them furiously, and then… his mind was blown. Joshua and Walden! They both had made it over to Garlick Square. Ashley couldn’t believe here eyes, she ran over and hugged both men while crying.*

ASHLEY: Josh, Walden, you made it! I was so worried!

JOSHUA: Yeah, we were worried about you, too.

  • Andrew ran up to the three.*

ANDREW: Josh? Is that you?

JOSHUA: Andrew!

ANDREW: I can’t believe you’re alright!

WALDEN: Neither can we, but nobody’s complaining.

JOSHUA: Hmm, last time I remember this place was a police station

WALDEN: Yeah, you’re right.

ASHLEY: I noticed that too.

ANDREW: *sigh* Yep, it’s Josh alright.

JOSHUA: Anyway, I brought some reinforcements. It isn't much, but we brought some supplies and heavy guns.

ANDREW: That’s well appreciated, c’mon, we gotta tell the guys you’re alright!

JOSHUA: Yeah, I’ll catch up in a minute.

ANDREW: Suit yourself.

WALDEN: Hey, now that we're here, might as well rest a bit.

JOSHUA: You're right, my feet are killing me.

  • Andrew runs off to tell everybody the news, Joshua and Walden are alive, and everybody would be happy to hear that (maybe even Hellkite)! However, unknown to the survivors, the zombie horde just gets larger by the minute as new feral zombies have joined the horde, and they’re heading in a collision course with Buckley Mall.*

Episode 3: Dark Secrets

  • Ty sat still on a bench, sulking. He sat very quietly, doing absolutely nothing. He thought about the mall, how many were inside, how many are going to die in the mall. He knew without the proper equipment and numbers that the mall was going to fall to the infected. Just when all seemed grim, Ty saw Andrew running up to him.*

ANDREW: Ty! Ty, c’mon, you gotta see this!

TY: Why, what’s going on?

ANDREW: It’s Josh! He made it!

TY: What?

ANDREW: You gotta see it, c’mon!

  • Ty couldn’t believe it. There was a very slim chance that Joshua would have escaped the battle of Williamsville.

He followed Andrew into the main hall, and then Ty’s jaw just dropped. It was Joshua, he had made it!*

TY: Josh? I can’t believe this!

JOSHUA: I can’t believe it either, Ty.

DAVID: No way, are you serious?

JOSHUA: David, it’s good to see ya.

DAVID: Yeah, we all thought you were dead.

JOSHUA: I almost was.

MATTHEEZY: No way, this is crazy, man!

JOSHUA: Yeah, I think we saw enough for today.

TY: Well, now that everybody is back, I think we should continue securing the mall.

ASHLEY: Hey, I don’t see Duncan anywhere, where is he?

JOSHUA: …

WALDEN: … He lost his life in the conflict.

JOSHUA: … He shot the generator to give us a clear path to Buttonville.

ASHLEY: …

HELLKITE: Well, that explains the large fire visible from here.

  • Everybody looks on the balcony, just noticing Hellkite there.*

ANDREW: Hellkite?

WALDEN: Dude, too soon man.

HELLKITE: Yes, quite.

TY: Where have you been lately?

HELLKITE: Following that man. *points to a man below*

  • Ty looks at the man; He has short-cut hair, wears glasses and a coat. On the back of this coat is a symbol, and words that spell out NecroTech.*

ASHLEY: I’ve noticed him here too.

TY: NecroTech?

JOSHUA: Hey, those are the guys who moved into town just before the outbreak, they’re some scientist or something.

ANDREW: Yeah, what would he be doing here?

DAVID: I think we should have a little talk with our scientist friend.

TY: Yeah, let’s go.

HELLKITE: You guys have fun with that.

  • The group walks up to the scientist, backing him into to a corner.*

???: Hey, what do you people want with me? MATTHEEZY: Nothing…

DAVID: …We just have a few questions, that’s all.

???: Please, leave me alone, I only want to get out of here.

JOSHUA: First of all, what is NecroTech, and why did they move into town?

???: I don’t have to answer those questions to a simple man like you.

WALDEN: Let’s try again, *pulls out shotgun and aims at scientist’s head* answer us or I blow you away!

???: Okay, okay! My name is Stephen, my last name I won’t tell you…

ANDREW: That’s fine, just continue.

STEPHEN: I worked in a level 4 security zone, everybody was working on a sample of an artificial virus, trying to see if we can make a biological weapon. The test, when given to a human, turned them into the walking creatures that flood the streets of Malton.

TY: How did they get out?

STEPHEN: The experiment went horribly wrong, and the virus broke out into the lab, killing most of my colleges, I was one of the lucky ones.

JOSHUA: So you people are responsible for this?

STEPHEN: I’m afraid so…

  • Walden lowers his gun*

JOSHUA: …

  • Joshua and the group went silent, nothing happened until Joshua looked up. Joshua clenched his hand into a fist, and punched Stephen in his face. Stephen fell to the ground. Joshua attempted to go in for more, but Mattheezy and Ty held him back.*

JOSHUA: You bastard! Do you know what you’ve done!?! These people lost their friends, their families, and all because you just wanted to make a weapon!?!

TY: Josh, calm down!

MATTHEEZY: Dude, chill man!

JOSHUA: Do you even know what I’ve been through in the past few days Stephen? I just saw many of my fellow officers get killed by these things outside, I just saw a friend die.

STEPHEN: I honestly think that NecroTech actually let these monsters loose behind my back, thinking that they could see how much devastation it can do. I didn’t authorize anything! I’m just a pawn of their doing!

JOSHUA: …!

STEPHEN: Look, I wanted to see this used to further our society, not a weapon of war.

JOSHUA: I wanted to see my family, my wife, my child one last time… I wanted to see my three-year-old son grow up… I was living a happy life before this outbreak hit…

TY: Josh…

  • Joshua looked down, tears rolled down his cheeks. Ashley walked over to comfort him.*

ASHLEY: Josh, we all went through this…

TY: We all know what it’s like… It wasn’t easy for any of us…

ANDREW: We all have our reasons of sadness… *looks at necklace* but we still strive to regain some of what we lost…

DAVID: As long as we continue to help revitalize this city, we still have hope for survival…

MATTHEEZY: It wasn’t easy for anyone in this room, or in the next building, but we kept going.

WALDEN: As long as we got each other, we’re family.

  • Ty looked at Joshua’s face, and, just by looking, knew that his heart just sank. He looked back at Stephen, and Joshua put out his hand. Stephen took his hand and let Joshua pick him off the floor.*

JOSHUA: Sorry, I was a little berserk there.

STEPHEN: It’s fine; I would have attacked myself too for assisting these things out there.

JOSHUA: Well, lets go, are you coming Stephen?

STEPHEN: Me?

JOSHUA: You might as well come with us. You’ll have a better chance of survival with pros.

STEPHEN: Pros?

TY: We are the first and last line of defense for Williamsville; we dubbed ourselves, The Red Guards of Williamsville.

DAVID: Or RGOW for short.

STEPHEN: What brings you here, then?

WALDEN: Buckley Mall is about to get hit, and hard.

STEPHEN: I see…

TY: Lets get some rest… we all had a rough day.

ANDREW: Agreed.

TWO HOURS LATER

  • The group rests themselves for the coming battle. Ty and Walden sit in front of the main entrance.*

WALDEN: Ugh, my feet are killing me.

TY: I don’t blame you, haven’t you and Josh been walking for almost a day?

WALDEN: Seems like it… Oh by the way, my name’s Walden, Walden Tucker.

TY: I’m Ty Reaper.

WALDEN: Yeah, nice to formerly introduce myself… You think this mall will hold them?

TY: Well, we have the manpower, but we lack the supplies for everyone.

WALDEN: Bummer…

TY: Yeah, really.

WALDEN: So, what are we gonna do to protect the unarmed?

TY: We made up a map of the mall. Our plan is to hold the unarmed in the storage area, while keeping the group split up with other survivors to guard the barricades. If the barricades fall, we fall back to our second position, and if pushed further upstairs and right in front of the storage area, which we have barricaded heavily. Here, have a look. *hands map to Walden*

WALDEN: So, there’s a plaster wall on the south side.

TY: Yeah, we gotta watch that.

WALDEN: I guess I could take any flank, what’re your plans?

TY: I’m going north, I’m thinking of sending Josh to the south.

WALDEN: I guess I should watch his back.

TY: Alright, that leaves Andrew and Ashley north, Mattheezy and I West, and Hellkite and David east.

WALDEN: Cool. Oh, by the way, Josh and I are forming a scouting party, wanna come?

TY: Sounds nice, who’s in it?

WALDEN: We got Andrew, Josh, and me. We all got two-way radios given to everybody, here. *Hands Ty a radio*

TY: Sure, I’ll join this party.

WALDEN: Nice, HEY JOSH!!

JOSHUA: *distant sounding* Yeah?!?

WALDEN: TY’S JOINING OUR SCOUT TEAM!!

JOSHUA: Sweet!

WALDEN: So yeah, just meet us in 30 minutes in the generator room.

TY: Right, see you there.

WALDEN: Yeah, see ya- hey Josh, it doesn’t fit like that!

JOSHUA: You sure!

WALDEN: Yeah! You gotta twist it a bit!

TY: *sigh*

30 MINUTES LATER

  • The generator room is soon filled when Ty walks in. There are Joshua, Walden and Andrew.*

JOSHUA: Great, everyone’s here.

ANDREW: Okay let’s get down to business; the zeds have probably reached the middle of Buttonville by now, so we have to move lightly and efficiently. I say we scout to the middle or until we see zeds.

JOSHUA: Seconded.

TY: Sounds good.

WALDEN: Yeah, let’s set out ASAP

JOSHUA: Yeah, grab your stuff guys.

TY: But we just got here…

ANDREW: We make quick decisions.

TY: …

2 MINUTES LATER

  • The group leaves Garlick Square and moves west. They have split up into two groups, Ty with Andrew.*

TY: Hey, you see anything yet?

ANDREW: No, not yet. *pulls up radio* Hey Josh, we don’t see anything. *kchk*

JOSHUA: Yeah, we only have a few feral zeds on the street, but haven’t seen the big one yet, over. *kchk*

TY: Well, we’re almost at the end of our search.

ANDREW: Yeah, fruitless.

JOSHUA: Hold on… *kchk*

ANDREW: ?

TY: Josh, what do you guys see? *kchk*

WALDEN: … Crap, that’s a lotta zeds. *kchk*

JOSHUA: We have a visual, looks bigger than back at Williasmville, what’s your thoughts? *kchk*

ANDREW: I have a visual, they’re gonna pounce those two…

TY: Josh! Get out of there now! *kchk*

JOSHUA: Oh crap, Walden run!

WALDEN: Bloody hell! *bang bang bang* *kchk*

TY: Josh! Josh, what’s your status? *kchk*

JOSHUA: We’re in a bit of a situation, just run! Get the hell outta here! *kchk*

ANDREW: Here they come!

TY: Run, just run!

  • Andrew and Ty run for their lives. Halfway back to Gell Lane, they intersect with Joshua and Walden.*

WALDEN: Fancy seeing you two.

TY: Spare me the humor.

JOSHUA: It looks like we have a huge lead.

TY: Let’s bolt back to the fire station and evacuate the survivors to Buckley.

ANDREW: Something tells me this battle just got a lot harder.

  • Back at Garlick Square, the group runs inside and adds as much as they can to barricade. The remainder of the survivors comes over to investigate.*

MATTHEEZY: Hey guys, what are you doing?

TY: They made it halfway through Buttonville, and are moving fast.

MAN#1: Oh god!

MAN#2: We’re gonna die!

MAN#3: Hold me!

ANDREW: Everyone! Calm down!

TY: Everybody make way for Buckley Mall, we will give further instruction when we get there!

JOSHUA: C’mon everybody, move!

ASHLEY: What are we gonna do?

STEPHEN: We have about a 37% chance of survival…

WALDEN: I like those odds, let’s get to the mall and secure a perimeter.

ASHLEY: You like them?

JOSHUA: Well they’re better than nothing.

DAVID: *running in* I saw the horde from on the roof! We have to go, now!

TY: Hold on, just this one more addition to the barricade… *moves a desk into place* done, let’s move!

  • The RGOW helps move every survivor from Garlick Square to Buckley Mall. Once inside, they explain their plan to the survivors, and move the young, weak, inexperienced people into the Storage area. Afterwards, each barricade is fitted with 30 survivors, the second line fitted with 40 survivors, and each barricade was fitted with 2 RGOW members; Joshua and Walden south, Ty north and Mattheezy, David and Hellkite east, Andrew and Ashley west. Each RGOW member holds a 2 way radio. Ty pulls out his radio.*

TY: Radio check, all checkpoints report in.

ANDREW: Checkpoint Bravo, standing by.

JOSHUA: Checkpoint Charlie here, let’s kick some zed ass.

HELLKITE: Checkpoint Gamma locked and loaded.

TY: Alright, everybody knows the drill, retreat to 2nd line when barricades fall.

WALDEN: I can see some, not too many but- HOLY CRAP!

DAVID: I don’t have a visual, wait, here they come!

ASHLEY: Watch the barricade!

TY: Zero movement over here.

  • Ty looked closely at the outside, still nothing. As a few seconds passed, he heard groaning, and saw a large green mass.*

TY: It looks like I spoke too soon, ready weapons! *All survivors with Ty ready their weapons* Open fire! *bang bang bang bang!*

JOSHUA: Waste em’! *bang bang*

  • Ty kept shooting at zombies left and right; the floor was already littered with them. As he watched, the barricade stood with only a few scratches. The survivors around him showed little fear and kept shooting.*

ASHLEY: Geez, how many are there?

TY: I don’t know, just shoot them!

MATTHEEZY: How much ammo we got?

JOSHUA: Enough at each barricade. Just use your axe if they get close.

HELLKITE: I knew this was a bad idea.

ANDREW: Shut up and keep firing.

TY: Hold the line!

  • The barricades still stand strong, but Ty fears that the plaster wall will break, flood the area and trapping Joshua and Walden inside their own barricade. He wants to go over there, but doesn’t want to leave Mattheezy behind. The struggle to hold the mall rages on as the survivors try to make every bullet count*

Episode 4: Tank and Protectors

  • David held his composure, crossbow in hand. He fired many shots into the crowd of zombies staring him down. He wouldn’t have any second thoughts, he just fired away. He knew that there was a weak point in the barricade, but he didn’t care at the moment. These things destroyed their lives. David wanted to take them down.*

MAN#1: How long do we keep this up?

DAVID: Until they stop coming! Now kill those bastards!

MAN#2: The barricade will hold up, we don’t need to retreat!

MAN#3: Says you, we don’t know how many are out there!

HELLKITE: *sigh* It looks like there aren’t many left...

DAVID: Good for us, now stay on the ball.

HELLKITE: Something tells me that we’re gonna die.

JOSHUA: You guys might wanna take your hand of the speak button...

HELLKITE: ...

TY: Nice to see you two cooperating.

DAVID: How you guys holding up?

ASHLEY: We’re fine over here.

TY: Same here.

WALDEN: We’re not going anywhere soon.

HELLKITE: Good to hear.

MAN#4: Our barricade is cracking a bit!

DAVID: Get a desk up there!

MAN#5: We need a desk!

MAN#6: We got it!

  • Two men take the desk and place it over the broken area. David and three other men hammer it into place.*

DAVID: Done *looks outside, pulls up radio* Ty, it looks like the zeds are retreating.

TY: Yeah, save your ammo.

WALDEN: Finally.

ASHLEY: I don’t think it’s over.

ANDREW: It’s far from over.

JOSHUA: Let’s just rest; we’ll be ready next attack.

MATTHEEZY: Yup, just watchin’ the barricade.

FIVE MINUTES LATER

  • David and Hellkite sat around the barricade. Most of the men were making jokes with each other, Hellkite just watched the barricade. David and most of the gang were on the radio, talking with each other and sharing stories.*

TY: So, what do we talk about now?

WALDEN: I dunno, maybe we should talk about what we think of current events.

JOSHUA: Sure.

ANDREW: Sounds reasonable.

TY: Sounds good.

ASHLEY: Yeah, who would go first?

MATTHEEZY: I’ll take a shot. *clears throat* Zeds, hostile survivors, all that other stuff. It has just all gone to hell and beyond. I’m surprised if any of us make it out of either this city or this battle even. So who’s next?

TY: I’ll go... Just by looking at these men, you could see the fear in their eyes. I fear for the survivors of this outbreak.

DAVID: Well, many have seen too much for a lifetime...

JOSHUA: ...Or too few...

  • Everybody stayed silent*

JOSHUA: They are afraid, and they should be... Just look at the odds, 240 against a countless amount of zeds. The closest reinforcements are in Dartside, and even if someone did go out to get help, how would they get past the hundreds of zeds?

DAVID: Calm down, man, we’ll find a way outta this mess.

JOSHUA: Sure, we can get out of this, but what about the forty or so stuck in that storage room?

ANDREW: We’ll find a way.

WALDEN: We always happen to.

JOSHUA: What if we don’t?

DAVID: Don’t think like that.

TY: Let’s just defend this mall and get out of here.

ASHLEY: Yeah, the sooner the better.

MATTHEEZY: Yeah, I’m tired of this crap already.

ANDREW: Which brings up one question, where do you think Aleksander is?

DAVID: For all we know, he could be halfway across Malton.

WALDEN: Yeah, or recruiting help.

DAVID: Yeah, or that.

TY: There is a small window of opportunity for him to actually get reinforcements, but there isn’t much time. If he has backup, he better haul ass or we’re dead.

JOSHUA: I just hope he actually gets here.

MATTHEEZY: Hey, you guys here that?

  • David looks around, and hears groaning. He looks at the barricade and sees zombies advancing. He pulls up his

radio.*

DAVID: Zeds! Watch your barricades!

JOSHUA: Ah, crap!

ASHLEY: Uh oh, everyone get your guns!

DAVID: Hellkite!

HELLKITE: I know, just shoot the bastards.

  • Zombies attacked the barricades, catching everybody by surprise. The survivors ran for their weapons and opened fire upon the zombie group. For about five minutes straight, the survivors pound the horde, giving them no quarter. Everybody just fired, never letting up. The wave just kept coming, it seemed longer.*

HELLKITE: This is getting a little boring...

DAVID: Cheer up! At least they aren’t breaking the barricades!

HELLKITE: I think it would be a little more fun if they actually do get a bit further.

MAN#5: Who is this guy?

MAN#3: He’s the type of guy you don’t wanna meet in a dark alley, now just kill those zeds!

  • The survivors continued to pound the zombies with lead for many minutes straight. Radio chatter was extremely high. Nobody was giving up just yet. Everybody had plenty of ammo, but water runners were taking increasingly long to get water to the survivors. The barricades held well against the zombie horde as blood eventually covered the entire outside of the barricades. The floor was just filled with bodies of the zeds that have just pounded against the barricades, soon bringing it to start collapsing.*

MAN#5: The barricade’s fallin’ apart!

HELLKITE: We need some stuff to fix the barricade!

MAN#2: We got a sheet of wood!

DAVID: Good enough!

MAN#6: Let’s get this thing up there!

  • The men quickly put the wood sheet in place.*

MAN#7: We need a hammer!

MAN#4: I got one!

DAVID: Hurry up with that barricade!

MAN#3: I’m almost out of ammo!

MAN#2: Maintain for now, just plug as many as you can!

HELLKITE: I can see them getting ready for another retreat!

DAVID: That’s great!

WALDEN: Guys, they’re running again, it looks like they’re just wearing us down.

TY: I believe that was their initial plan.

ANDREW: So we just sit here and wait for death?

MATTHEEZY: No, I say we should fall back after the next wave is over.

ASHLEY: Yeah, our defenses need a little bit more in the second line.

TY: We stay until we lose our barricades, no exception.

ANDREW: Somehow I knew you were gonna say that.

WALDEN: Almost outta ammo here, how much you guys got?

JOSHUA: Enough.

ASHLEY: Some left, but not a lot.

MATTHEEZY: I got a good amount.

TY: I’m fine.

DAVID: I’m good here.

HELLKITE: Me too.

MAN#1: *bang* Keep hitting them! *bang*

ONE MINTUTE LATER

  • The survivors have beaten off the second wave of zombies, and are repairing their barricades and clearing the dead bodies.*

ANDREW: Wow, these things just won’t give up.

WALDEN: Even zeds should know not to stick their noses where it hurts.

TY: I think they are just testing us for a weak spot...

ASHLEY: Unfortunately we happen to have one.

JOSHUA: Don’t worry, Walden and I are watching it.

HELLKITE: *whispering to self* That’s what I’m afraid of...

WALDEN: Hey, I heard that!

HELLKITE: ...

DAVID: C’mon guys, we gotta find more supplies.

TY: Yeah, let’s go searching, but not too far from the barricades.

JOSHUA: Sounds like a plan.

ONE MINUTE LATER

  • Each group has left one of their radios back with the others while getting supplies with the ammo runners.*

ASHLEY: Geez, is everything in this mall looted?

WALDEN: Everything except the walls and a few scraps, we’re just lucky to be holding weapons.

DAVID: Just look through the pile of crap and try to pull something useful out of it.

HELLKITE: So this is our life; rummaging through crap.

MATTHEEZY: Wow, you are a downer.

HELLKITE: ...

JOSHUA: Hey Walden, got some ammo over here.

WALDEN: Nice, let me see.

ASHLEY: I got some extra ammo in this corner.

MATTHEEZY: Not much ammo here, but a nice bunch.

TY: I got a few shells and three clips, not much but it should suffice.

WALDEN: It looks like I have enough.

JOSHUA: Ditto.

TY: Let’s hit the barricades, I don’t want to be crept up on by the zeds.

DAVID: On it.

BACK AT THE BARRICADES

  • David has set himself up with the other men, getting ammo for those who need it. The zombies have been silent for now, but the darkness till holds secrets. David has wondered if any zombies were intelligent enough to make a coordinated attack, feeling for a weak point and hammering it. He thought of the men and women trapped inside, for this siege could pull out for days, and they have enough food for only one day flat. He couldn’t think about what might happen if the zombies broke in. Maybe it was the time for some conversation.*

DAVID: Say guys, when do you expect this siege to end?

TY: I don’t know.

ASHLEY: By the rate we’re killing them; it should last about another few hours.

MATTHEEZY: Great...

WALDEN: Don’t be bummed guys, they haven’t broken anything important.

HELLKITE: Hey Josh, is your friend always this happy-go-lucky?

WALDEN: You should really understand that this is a two way radio, and that I’m hearing everything you say.

HELLKITE: ...

MATTHEEZY: Watch it Walden, you might piss him off.

JOSHUA: You know, I’ve never seen Hellkite lose his cool before.

TY: I don’t think now’s the time.

MATTHEEZY: Ty’s right, we should watch the barricades.

JOSHUA: I’ve been staring at my barricade for five minutes straight, can I stop?

  • Smack*

JOSHUA: Owww, what was that for?

WALDEN: Just making sure you were on the ball.

JOSHUA: I’ll show you who’s on the ball! *crash!*

EVERYONE ELSE: Heh heh heh...

DAVID: Hey are you guys okay?

ASHLEY: Don’t worry, they do this all the time.

MATTHEEZY: I’ve noticed almost everyone here in this mall is crazy.

HELLKITE: *whispering to self* You sure you aren’t one of them?

MATTHEEZY: Hey, I heard that!

HELLKITE: ...

DAVID: Wow, you’re really bad at radio operation. :P

ANDREW: Hey guys, you here something?

  • The sound of groaning fills the air.*

DAVID: Ah crap.

JOSHUA: Watch your barricades.

ASHLEY: Here they come!

TY: Fire at will!

  • The sound of gunshots is present throughout the radios.*

TY: Is this it? Is this all you can muster you sick animals?

  • A huge crashing sound is present in the radio, everybody turns to the south, where Joshua and Walden are. David

notices sounds from the radio of zombies walking through.*

Episode 5: The Defense Falters

  • Walden had been shooting zombies left and right, but he never had taken place in a mall siege before; the dangers of failing were high. Walden had pounded them from the inside, but never had thoughts about the zombies getting inside too. Conveniently, Walden didn’t back down and kept firing at the horde.*

MAN#1: This is insane!

JOSHUA: It’s alright, as long as we kill them they won’t be getting in.

WALDEN: I’m not used to defending large areas.

JOSHUA: You’re doing great, just focus.

TY: Is this it? Is this all you can muster you sick animals?

  • Walden looks at Joshua, and notices he’s watching the plaster wall filling to the side.

Walden looks at it too, and see it cracking*

WALDEN: Oh crap.

JOSHUA: Everyone, get back from the wall!

  • Boom! The plaster wall fell to the ground, making a two meter hole. The zombies at the wall flooded into the mall. Joshua and Walden turned to the wall and opened fire on the zombies.*

WALDEN: We need fire support!

MAN#2: Let’s cover the wall!

  • The men are able to get backup for the wall, but the zombies coming through are too great for them and slowly advance through the shower of bullets.*

MAN#3: They just keep coming!

JOSHUA: It’s not enough... Fall back to the second line!

WALDEN: Not yet!

JOSHUA: Walden! We have to fall back!

WALDEN: I’m not scared of these bastards!

JOSHUA: They broke through! The wall is breached!

MAN#1: Retreat! Retreat!

  • Walden looks back and sees the horde, growing endlessly bigger. Fear finally sets in, and he picks up his stuff and begins to retreat. While retreating, Walden notices a man being pulled into the zombie horde, and turns to help him. Joshua sees him and grabs him by the collar.*

JOSHUA: Walden, no!

WALDEN: We have to help him!

JOSHUA: It’s too late, you’ll get killed!

WALDEN: I don’t care!

JOSHUA: Walden!

WALDEN: Let me go!

  • Joshua smacks Walden in the face, stunning him momentarily.*

JOSHUA: What the hell has gotten into you!?! We have to retreat! If you waste your life you’re just hurting our cause!

WALDEN: ...Josh...

JOSHUA: Walden, we need you... This mall needs you... I need you...

WALDEN: ...

  • BOOOM!*
  • A sudden explosion from an unknown source throws Walden and Joshua about a meter. For Walden, everything went soundless, like shell shock. He looked around, and saw men, fleeing from the zombie horde. Joshua was talking to him, but no word could be made out. He heard the screams of people suffering in his past as a police officer. He has a short flashback.*

FOUR YEARS EALIER

  • It’s February 5th, 2006, Joshua, Walden and Ashley were dispatched to chase two men in a stolen car, possibly armed.*

WALDEN: ...So I say to the guy, ‘yeah, you like that huh?’

JOSHUA: It’s not that funny anymore, man.

DUNCAN: Alright people cut the chatter, drop your socks and grab your steering wheels.

ASHLEY: Hey Josh, that’s the car!

JOSHUA: *Pulls up radio* Dispatch, this is unit 142, got a visual on the target.

DUNCAN: This is Dispatch; confirm it is a white Sedan.

JOSHUA: 10-4

DUNCAN: You have clearance to pursue the vehicle.

JOSHUA: Roger that.

  • Joshua flips on the siren on the police car and chases the Sedan for five freeway exits.*

WALDEN: Hey, what’s this guy doing?

ASHLEY: He’s trying to drive up next to us?

  • Joshua and Walden look at each other.*

BOTH: Oh crap...

WALDEN: He’s got a gun!

JOSHUA: Dispatch, this is unit 142, the suspects are armed with Uzis, and they are trying to engage us!

DUNCAN: Copy, use of deadly force is authorized.

JOSHUA: 10-4. Ashley hit their tires!

  • Ashley pulls out her pistol and aims out the window. She holds steady for a second, and

then shoots the suspects’ left tire.*

WALDEN: Nice shot.

JOSHUA: They’re loosing control; let’s book ‘em.

  • The group dismounts from the car, the suspects are attempting to flee.*

JOSHUA: Get outta the car!

ASHLEY: Drop the gun! Drop it!

WALDEN: Looks like your robbery spree has ended!

JOSHUA: Nice work guys...

  • Reality fades back into the present, Walden’s hearing returns to him.*

PRESENT DAY

JOSHUA: ...Walden, c’mon man! We gotta go!

  • Walden jumps up and starts running for the second line with the others.*

ASHLEY: Joshua, Walden, please come in!

WALDEN: Hey what’s up? We’re in a bit of a situation here.

DAVID: What happened down there?

WALDEN: Those things broke through the plaster wall.

MATTHEEZY: What?!? How?!?

JOSHUA: They were just scanning for a weak point, and they found it.

TY: What are you gonna do?

WALDEN: Make a stand for now.

  • Walden turns, fire axe in hand.*

WALDEN: Ya with me, Josh?

  • Joshua pulls out his fire axe.*

JOSHUA: I’m with you!

  • Walden turns and sees the survivors at their backs.*

JOSHUA: *Points into the air, and the swings downward* Charge!

  • The entire group of survivors charges the zombies, who are slowly advancing. The

survivors hit their enemies, swinging their fire axes at them, killing many of them.*

MAN#4: Hit them hard.

JOSHUA: Hold your ground!

WALDEN: How many do we kill before we get out of here?

JOSHUA: I don’t know, just keep killing!

WALDEN: Dude, watch it!

  • Joshua turns and sees a zombie, grabbing him. Joshua axes the zombie in the head, and

continues the carnage. After about a minute of fighting the remainder of the RGOW makes it over to the battle, joining the battle immediately.*

TY: Sorry we’re late.

ANDREW: We got sidetracked. *slices away at zombies.*

WALDEN: Well, the more the merrier. *headshots a zombie*

JOSHUA: Hey, what about the other barricades?

MATTHEEZY: Forget about them, you need all the help you can.

WALDEN: But that’ll set us a step backwards.

DAVID: We couldn’t just let you die here.

HELLKITE: *whispering* I could care less.

WALDEN: I heard that one too!

HELLKITE: ...

TY: Save it for later, boys; we got a job to do.

ASHLEY: Hey guys, there’s more...

  • More zombies flood the area, overwhelming the survivors.*

TY: Joshua!

  • Joshua and Walden turn towards Ty, who is on the escalator, shooting at zombies.*

TY: Fall back to the Storage room! Get your men out of there!

JOSHUA: Everyone! Fall back! Fall back!

WALDEN: Come on guys! Retreat!

ASHLEY: We gotta go! Fall back!

ANDREW: We can’t just run now!

WALDEN: Come on, this is no time for this crap.

JOSHUA: Andrew! Come on, you have to live!

ANDREW: I can do this!

WALDEN: Don’t you have someone to live for?

ANDREW: ...

JOSHUA: He’s right, you can’t just throw your life away now!

ANDREW: You’re right, but I don’t intend on throwing it away with this single mall defense.

MATTHEEZY: Come on! We gotta get upstairs!

ANDREW: I’m not running!

  • Walden grabs Andrew over his shoulders and carries him up the escalator. Andrew

fights him the whole way up. Everyone else retreats upwards and into the Storage Room, closing the heavy barricade behind them.*
