What is This Page?

Why it's a travel log of course. I have just moved it to this page (from my User Page), in order to free up some space, and tidy things up a bit.

As with many of my projects, I often get side-tracked by either RL events, or events in the game. So, even though I had the best of intentions when I started this project (and still do), my contributions will be a bit sporadic.

I still check the page, and one can still leave a comment on my talk page if they are so inclined.

MALTON TRAVEL LOG

DAY 1 - 5/28/07: I am departing Santlerville, and making my way down to Heytown.

After checking the map, I’ve decided that the route through Heytown, on to Randallbank, is the best way to begin my journey west from Santlerville.

Going along the bottom of Santlerville to get to Randallbank seems too risky at this point in my journey. Because Santlerville is a bit of a hot area at this time, I really don’t want to spend a bunch of time at Revive Points, ridding myself of a rotting zombie body, and standing around going, “Mrhh.” All of this, before I even leave Santlerville? I don’t think so.

Instead, I will go through Heytown, which has moderate zombie traffic at this time. I hope.

END of DAY 1 - 5/28/07: Well, I am now safely tucked away in Randallbank at an undisclosed location for the night.

My trip through Heytown was rather uneventful, but I did pick up a nice housewarming gift for Lady Jane (at the Syms Museum), for when I make my stop by her place later in my trip.

I won’t go into much detail about what it is, only that it is rather large and bulky. I hope I’m not forced to discard it before I get there. However; should that happen, I will most certainly pick up something else to brighten the place up a bit. I never impose on the hospitality of a host, without leaving something to show my appreciation. It would be just plain rude.

Sometime tomorrow (after I’ve built up full AP), I will set off for Ketchelbank, passing through Roachtown on the way. Being from Florida, I’ve kinda gotten used to roaches of all types, so, I’m not too scared. But, bugs seem to least of the little suburbs problems at the moment. The suburb has been deemed dangerous (according to the Wiki Map), with zombie hordes of 50+.

The suburb of Ketchelbank seems to be a much safer place to spend the night. I also plan on stopping by the zoo in Ketchelbank, and checking out the Zombie Exhibit, which is housed in the Aquarium.

So long for now… --Mrite 01:11, 29 May 2007 (BST)

DAY 2 - 5/29/07: After getting a late start today, I have finally arrived in Ketchelbank.

I went directly through Roachtown, without even stopping to take a whiz. That's sort of an accomplishment for me because, I rarely am able to make a journey of any length, without making a couple of pit stops. However; I wasn't sure of what kind of facilities were available there, and I'd just as soon empty my bladder in a nice clean McZeds or Necrotech facility.

In fact I stayed at an NT building last night. Great restrooms, and not a whole lot of activity either. I slept right through a GK and a revive, and still woke up alive. I hear there is a trendy wine bar in Roachtown, but I was a little leery about the neighborhood, so, I didn't stop. I think I may take a shot at it some other time though, when I'm feeling a bit more adventurous. Nothing like some good, fried rat.

Tonight, I'm bunking with a zoo keeper. Tomorrow, I hit the zoo. I'm actually gonna see some zombies, and not have to worry about killing one of the poor bastards. At least I hope, that's the way it turns out.

Till next time... --Mrite 03:36, 30 May 2007 (BST)

DAYS 3-6 - 5/30 - 6/2/07: I stayed a bit longer in Ketchelbank, than I thought I would. I got a bit sidetracked with work that I took on the road with me, so I didn’t get to see the zoo, until my third day there.

I really like the work that the post apocalyptic, zoo keepers, have done with the zoo. It is an interesting source of amusement for those who may be beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed by (what appears to be), the hopelessness of our present situation. Every survivor that I met or interacted with was friendly and helpful. Then again, I can’t say that I met that many. I’m not quite sure of what the zombie to survivor ratio is, but I would be willing to wager that there are more zombies than survivors, at any given time. At least, that’s the way it appeared when I was there, but I was attacked or harmed, by neither zed nor survivor during the time I spent there.

My only complaint would be the lack of accommodations. I checked their Wiki before I went in, and while the zoo chat-board/info center has some excellent information, they were still a little sketchy about secure accommodations. Nevertheless, after doing a bit of advanced scouting, and checking profiles of possible roommates, I was able to rest peacefully throughout my entire stay.

I want to thank Snoo, for leading me to the Malton City Zoo site. It was a great source of information and activities (such as, animal spotting and listing, plus a PDF activity sheet for the kiddies).

Check em out.

My passage through the other suburbs was rather uneventful, but I finally reached my destination today, the Plummer Arms.

I walked in, plopped down my gift and called out for the proprietor, only to find her sleeping. Well, I guess it’s the whole West Side/East Side, time difference thing. That’s ok. I’ll get some rest, do a little looking around tomorrow, then publish my review. From what I’ve noticed, Lady Jane has already done some tasteful decorating, considering what materials are available out there.

Till next time --Mrite 03:19, 3 June 2007 (BST)

UPDATE

Well, it has certainly been along time since I last visited this page, but here's a sort of epilogue to the travel-log.

After spending a bit of time at the Plummer Arms, I became enthralled with the place. I like old stuff and fixing old stuff. I like a challenge. So, I put in my application with Lady Jane for the esteemed position of Building Maintenance. I now have a place to call home and maintain. I am now the Schnieder (arkane TV reference) of a little pub/safehouse in Mornington.

While it may suck to have to clean and repair the place, after some feral zeds ransack the shit out of it, all in all, it's not a bad gig. There's plenty of beer, interesting guest, and always another adventure around the corner.

Damn! It's GOOD to be me! --Mrite 01:20, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
