[edit] 2005
[edit] July 4th, 2005
My name is Corporal Chris Ferris, member of the 501st United States Army Battalion. I am currently in a church due north of Fort Perryn with my fellow soldiers and friend Tyler. Yesterday, at around 1:30 PM, a horde of unidentified attackers stormed the fort and killed many of my colleagues. I believe this may be connected somehow to the reports I intercepted several months ago about NecroTech moving a biohazard into the city.
Tyler and I are still attempting to understand exactly what happened. We do believe we saw some of the attackers...eating the men they killed. The attackers were unarmed and yet managed to wipe out over 100 trained 501st and SAS members. All we know is that we escaped through the sewers and exited in the middle of a suburb we have never seen before. Then again, we haven't been up north yet...

We finally encountered one. For three weeks we didn't see a single being until today. Tyler found it in an alleyway near the grocery store we been looting lately. I don't understand how this thing managed to make it this far before being killed. It was missing its left leg, several fingers, a chunk of its throat, and some of its entrails were hanging out the front. Then there was the killshot. Single gunshot wound to the head.
Tyler says that they may be infected with some kind of virus. For right now, we're keeping our distance from the body. I plan to burn it tomorrow.

A kindly survivor is staying with us. He was passing through and spotted us, so he came over and asked if we wanted someone to help out. When we asked him what he could do, he gave us a radio transmitter that we immediately set up in our base of operations, a small abandoned museum. After setting it to the 501st Official Frequency, Tyler sent out a message.
"Are there any 501st members alive to hear this? Holler back if that's a yes."
The survivor's name was Michael. He was a police officer who's wife was killed in the Incident. He was the one who told us what they really were. Zombies. Zack. The walking undead. If only it wasn't true.

[edit] January 1st, 2006
It's been almost seven months since Zack took everything away from us. Michael left on Christmas to return to his old house and stay there for a while. He invited Tyler and I but we kindly refused, not wanting to intrude on his privacy.
We still have no word from the radio. Seven months, and no answer. That's probably a bad sign. Tyler keeps hoping for the best, but I'm preparing for the worst.

Tyler and I made our way west for some supplies. We kept running into Zack as we ran and it really got to my nerves. These used to be people. Living, breathing people. And here they were, as mindless animals, eating and destroying everything they see. It was really sad.
Even now I can hear them, shuffling around outside, banging on doors and breaking windows in as they search for their next meal. I'm gripping my rifle, ready to shoot the fuckers in the head no matter what. I just hope I don't see someone I know.
Tyler is really keeping quiet lately. I haven't seen him say anything really for the past month or so. Maybe the menace is getting into his head. I hope he gets over it. As Sergeant Ale always said: "If you don't have a clear mind and a straight face, people die."
[edit] May 8th, 2006
I've been wondering. The police officer we met, Michael, his last name was Ale. I saw on his uniform. Could he be related to the Sergeant? I mean, in some way. Ale isn't exactly the most popular last name in the world. If he is, I hope he's okay. I wouldn't want the Sergeant to have to deal with the loss of his brother. If the Sergeant was still alive, that is.
Tyler still isn't talking. He's having nightmares now. Three days ago he almost lured an entire horde of Zack to us because he woke up screaming his lungs out. Must've been thinking about the night of the Incident. I've been having dreams about that too.
Maybe we were chosen to come here. Maybe this all some sort of sick project to see what happens when you drop a fucking zombie virus into a city. I don't know. Still, I can't help but remember that email I intercepted back in the States about NecroTech. Y'know, I've seen some of their buildings around. Curious.
[edit] September 19th, 2006
Jeez this is crazy. I don't have much time right now. I need to get going with Tyler and Mike. Mike found some food but I guess it was a trap from Zack. Their getting smarter somehow. Man, this sucks.
[edit] September 21st, 2006
Mike's dead, and so is Private Wilkins. Wilkins was a survivor from Fort Perryn. We bumped into him while we were running away from Zack and he helped Mike get into a building where his family was supposedly hiding out. Unfortunately, Zack had broken in before them and killed his wife and kid. They both died trying to kill the bastards.
Wilkins had told us that the Sergeant was still alive. He apparently heard something on the radio from the Sergeant, saying to come to some church. Wilkins was supposed to take us there but...
We don't have a radio anymore. We lost it in August. I've been asking around about the broadcast but no one seems to know. Does everything need to be so difficult?

Tyler and I helped a bunch of survivors retake Caiger Mall yesterday. I now have some time to sit down and write this. As the zombies groan outside, I wonder. Why are zombies able to distinguish as from them? Do they have built-in mechanics that let them know when we are a zombie or not? Ugh this is just too weird.
I recently discovered that zombification can be undone. Apparently there's this syringe that's injected that allows zombies to be "revivified" back into human form. We went back to Wilkins and Mike but as it turns out, they were just bones now. The zombies had picked them dry.
Two weeks ago we came across a zombie from the 501st. They had tags from Fort Creedy so I'm guessing they tried to regroup with the 453rd Armored Regiment to coordinate a counterattack. The zombie was one of Sergeant Ryker's men, Kilo Squad. Kilo was notorious for running into situations without thinking, so i guess this guy just ran with that and hoped for the best.

Man time to write this is getting less and less. Caiger fell soon after my last entry and we were forced north again. I'm really confused about NecroTech right now. I saw an employee scanning a zombie and then letting it go. Is he on orders from NecroTech? If he is, that's just fucking weird because these people should be put out of their misery.
Scientists are fucked up.
[edit] August 19th, 2007
I could've sworn I saw several 501st soldiers near Fort Creedy when we were scouting it. It seemed operational with survivors holding it quite well so we made our way there but the group had left already. They had the armbands of Zulu Squad and we are hoping that Captain Karson had survived. This would have made him the highest ranking US military officer in the field. It was our duty to regroup with him. However, Zulu disappeared and was not seen since. We are tracking them as best we can and have found one body. Private Sanchez. He was a fresh recruit when the Incident happened. So sad for it to go down like this.
[edit] August 30th, 2007
We've regrouped with Zulu Squad and are working towards assaulting a warehouse full of survivors. Captain Karson was dead and Corporal Dennis Thatcher was the current leader of the Squad. As the two highest ranking officials we knew of, we had full control over the group jointly, yet I decided to let him make the decisions on this one. I had faith in Thatcher and remembered how he saved B-Team by himself when he was with Kilo Squad in Afganistan. He was the only survivor of the original Kilo and managed to retrieve SFO-D Team Bravo from a heavily guarded compound by himself. I had never seen such heroism.
[edit] August 31st, 2007
Well, we're down to three. During the assault, a group of people entered the building and began shooting us! They killed Thatcher and Cole while Lenny got taken by Zack. Derrick tried to save someone only to be obliterated by a grenade. Tyler, Brown, and I got out and rushed back to Fort Creedy to regroup and assess our current situation.
[edit] December 23rd, 2007
We barely escaped Creedy with our lives. There was an assault of anti-survivors and Brown was killed as we made our exit. I don't know where we'll go from here.

[edit] July 4th, 2008
It's been the third anniversary of the day our lives were changed because of Zack. Tyler and I paid our respects at several gravesites and went to some street and stayed there. I really don't see the point of everything anymore. I'm just tired.
[edit] December 31st, 2008
He's dead. I mean, they're dead. Sergeants Ryker and Killian died. I can't believe it. We heard on the radio from the official frequency. Tyler and I are on our way to the Church in question right now. I just hope we're not too late.
