HISTORY

Coming from a well-trained, military background, Ant is a former U.S. Air Force Combat Controller, where he earned the nickname “Whatshisname”. Though much of what any soldier who was dropped into Malton was soon forgotten in the face of the new reality they found themselves in, Ant manage to find significant use out of the skills he picked up as a Combat Controller. His S.E.R.E. training in particular proved useful.

After his mission was botched, he wound up wandering into Dunell Hills, finding a group of survivors just beginning to organized. Needing all sorts of skills, the group, which called themselves the Dunell Hills Police Department asked his assistance. With nowhere else to go, he joined. From accidentally stumbling upon this group, Ant stayed with them as they slowly gained steam. Eventually, the became one of the most powerful groups in the city, with Dunell Hills and its bordering suburbs (dubbed the “DMZ”) becoming one of the safest places in the city. Though the Dunell Hills Police Department thrived for several years, it was not to last. When the massive zombie horde dubbed “The Shining Ones” attempted to take Caiger Mall, the last remaining shopping mall still heavily manned by survivors, they were repulsed by many survivor groups, including Caiger Mall’s own defenders and the DHPD. After the failed invasion, the zombies poured into the DMZ. This began a massive war between the horde and the department, one that the horde would eventually win. Ant, the second in command of the famed DHPD’s Delta Squad, and the commander of the head police station in the DMZ, managed to keep his building standing far longer than expected and get many survivors out to safety before it fell. Broken, disheartened, and riddled with guilt, the young man wandered off deep into the city of Malton. He returned some time later, soon after the Shining Ones had left the sector. He was in time to help the DHPD reform and secure their borders again, but the DHPD never regained its former strength. It’s most prominent members began to disappear, and soon the entire suburb was a ruin. Ant had set off a second time, searching across Malton for any stragglers to bring back to the DMZ. When he returned, he found Dunell Hills completely ruined. The Shining Ones had long since left, but the DHPD had neglected its home. Upon seeing his beloved Cotty Street Police Department in ruins and rejoining with the group, something inside him changed. The DHPD cared nothing about their own history. Ant had been around since almost the founding of the DHPD. He had fought side by side with its’ main founder, a man by the name of Sharko, and much later, against him during the department’s infamous civil war. He and his closest friend, who has long since disappeared, formed Delta Squad, a branch of the DHPD that would go down in Malton’s history as a force to be reckoned with. Delta Squad was responsible for the kills of some of the highest profile “villains” in Malton, including the leaders of “Extinction” and “The Dead”. Despite this storied history, no one in the department seemed to care for the days where the department was strong. It had withered, as had its ideology. Ant was lost, and had undertaken a half-hearted scavenging mission when he ran into an old acquaintance of his. She was wearing a clean, white mask and said not a word. She simply handed him a reference before running off. Ant found his way to the doorstep of one of Malton’s oldest, well-known groups…"
