If you want to hack together a map quickly, I made a pretty adaptable minimap template for UD with a mini demo of it as well. It takes the hassle out of formatting a minimap by letting you specify names for all of your styles, then simply label each cell under the appropriate name, rather than having to wrangle hundreds of lines of CSS. Given the nature of your game, something that looked like a UD minimap wouldn't be out of place at all. Aichon 03:32, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, that looks really good, thanks! I was originally thinking of doing a map like this, but then I realized that it's an image, and not some clever code. I could fairly easily change the suburb sizes to something more abnormal, like that map image, by removing the spacing and inserting borders in the right places, I think. Or different colours. The little faded local blocks (er, the buildings) inside the suburb areas would probably be more difficult to do, without an image. --  AHLGTH 00:23, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Yep, pretty sure that it's rigged up so that you can specify borders on specific sides if you want to (I wrote it well over a year ago, so I can't recall for sure), so you'd be able to do what you're suggesting. The buildings would definitely be tougher. Might be easier to just overlay an image than code the buildings, at which point you need to ask whether it's easier to just do it all as an image instead. I didn't know if this map needed to be functional or just for show. If you need it to be functional with decent detail, then mine is only good for a 10x10 grid, which has limited uses, to say the least. I suppose you could put multiple ones next to each other with no margins or borders in order to have bigger maps, but I'd imagine you'd hit the include limit fairly quickly doing that. Yeah. I'm not sure yet if the map is functional or for looks, but for the next while it will be for show anyways; and I'll probably won't bother with little images of buildings. But if I do, yeah, an image would do best. (So I'm not quite sure if I want a map with little clickable names that allow you to travel to that location, but for the next few chapters there won't be any of that. And if I did, in later chapters, have little clickable go-to-location names, that would be decisively horrible with all the permutations, which reduces much linearity in some parts, which means the locales are for "side-quests" are "looksies," rather than main story.)--  AHLGTH 20:27, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
