Good work!! You should feel good that so many people noticed it! Although from seeing your names (eg The Suburb With No Name) I figure you may be a slight Clint Eastwood fan, why not name Eastonwood... Well... You know... DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 16:37, 1 April 2009 (BST)

[edit] DSS Red Zone Support

Hello again. Dulston, the once greenest of all green suburbs, is now one big ruin. Just take a look at the Dulston suburb page. Being part of only a small group, I don't really have anything to say, but help sounds always good to me. I think it would be best to contact the Dulston Alliance, we can be found here: http://z9.invisionfree.com/Dulston_Alliance/index.php .
Hope to see you around, Balcony JediELT|Talk! 10:02, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Penny Heights

Zip, just saw your news update in the Penny Heights page. I've been updating the suburb and building news for a while now, since the massive RRF incursion wrecked our pleasant little burg, and I've managed to put together a small group (too small, at the moment) to try and get organized to stop it from turning into a Ghost Town before the wrecks are unfeasably unrepairable. If you'd like to join us, leave a note on my talk page and I'll give you our location. If not, I'd greatly appreciate any intelligence you can give me on zombie numbers you saw in various areas, such as Joachim and Lumber, Odo General, Craddy NT, or any of the other significant resource buildings. I haven't been able to do direct scouting in several days. Thanks, mate - --DubStreet 08:41, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Zip, replying again on your talk page because it's been a while since we last spoke. Realized I forgot to give you our name, before. We're DSS Red Zone Support, and our focus is finding Red Zones (high danger suburbs) and lending support to the survivors there. We actually formed out of the chaos and confusion following the destruction of Penny Heights. For now, we've set up a field HQ in the newly recaptured Lumber Mall, and we're working to revive people and organize resistance. If you're still interested, Sophie and I would be glad to have you come join us. --DubStreet 03:20, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Hey Zip, just updating you: earlier today, Dub contacted me about recovering the Tomkyns Building, the mobile phone mast. I went there just a little too rashly, though, and got myself into a sticky situation, sort of a barricade-building competition with a zed. Or I hope it's ONE zed. Heh. Anyroad, I forgot to warn you, and now I'm worried about you. Zeds are eating your barricades, too, they were down to VSB when I left. Do try to move to another safehouse, if at all possible. Situation in Tomkyns is a bit tricky right now, you can't help me barricade and I don't think we can afford to play meat shields, so I'd advise against joining me here. I updated the group page, there's now a selection of buildings there we need status from, if you want to scout. Priority should be FAKs, though, I think, and I fear our local hospitals are ruined again. If that's the case, you may want to plan a run for Lucius General Hospital or St. Maurice's Hospital, bit up north in Houldenbank, see if they're lit, try and get medkits. A LOT of medkits. Here's a map. I may do that as well, actually, once I'm done with my metabolically-challenged friend here. Hugs to you, stay breathing. --Sophie Ames 21:07, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Hey George, just replied in my page, notifying you if you're not watching it. --Sophie Ames 00:57, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

George: I'm going offline for a bit now, will be back in an hour. Left a message for Dub in his page, explaining him my current "plan", such as it is. If you log in a bit later, and you don't see me there with you yet, please check on Rothwell and update me on the zed count. I'll bring a couple beers to the factory, eventually, for us to while the night - bit warm, but hey, we're still civilising this place haha. Note, though, this is not vital or anything; if you want to log out for the day, no problem. Hugs to you. --Sophie Ames 03:27, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
George: we still have no definite plan, as you can see :( But doc's with us now, and I have enough AP to CRAP 3 zeds easily. I told Dub, however, I would rather use them to revive helpful survivors - haven't got a reply yet. If I reach 50 AP, I may go revive our fourth member (there's a fourth now it seems!), and probably join you in that factory. Please update us on Rothwell and Tomkyns when you can - current inside zed count will be much appreciated. I cleaned up a bit our group talk page, addressed your comments that I couldn't yesterday, would like to know what you think. Good luck to you, and sorry to keep you standing by so long :( --Sophie Ames 20:03, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
We've got a fourth member now? Who are they, and where did you find that out? Sorry I haven't been replying, but I'm setting up the forum, and in addition to that, dealing with some issues from moving, which I just finished. --DubStreet 21:44, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Was talking about ZIPO, Dub. He said he may join us. --Sophie Ames 21:46, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Ah, I gotcha. Excellent! He should, it'd be great to have him on board. --DubStreet 22:27, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Radio

Hello Captain, I've tried to reach you via e-mail but apparently I didn't get through, so I'll try again here: after some time of real-life caused absence from UD in general, I realized that our group, the Electric Light Torchestra had lost our radio frequency due to inactivity of the group. Since we were really fond of this frequency (it was used to call us to deliver generators and/or fuel), I wanted to ask you how much you/your group cling to it, and if there's a chance that we could have it back. If not, I'd fully understand this and apply for another one, but you know, nostalgia... Please let me know your opinion on this.
Cheers, Balcony JediELT|Talk! 17:24, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Hello again, thanks for your quick response. This sounds like a perfectly good solution to me! Whenever we sent a transmission, we usually announced what group we were anyway, because there was another inofficial group broadcasting on "our" frequency. And of course, the ELT being a friendly and peace-loving group, we appreciate an alliance with other pro-survivor groups. I took the liberty to add your group to our Members & Allies page. Feel free to link to us if you feel like it. Now all we have to do is to claim the frequency officially. I don't know anymore how this is done, can I just add the ELT to the radio list? I'm looking forward to hearing from you and I wish your group all the best.
Kind regards, Balcony JediELT|Talk! 21:58, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for listing us. Stay in contact! Balcony JediELT|Talk! 10:30, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to our Wiki

Hi CaptainVideo! As we can see, you made your first edits to this wiki not long ago. It's OK to be new, and we encourage new blood to join and enrich our community. At the same time, we understand that no one is a perfect wiki editor straight off the bat, and, just in case you get stuck, here're some useful tips to help you out. Please take the time to read them.

General Editing
  • Never delete someone else's edits, comments, responses, etc. off community pages. To do so is considered vandalism.
  • If you write a comment it's useful to sign it so that other editors will know who wrote it. You can write "~~~~" at the end of your comment to sign it, or there's this button Image:button_sig.png on the top of the edit page that will sign for you if you want.
  • You may want to know how your edits will look before they have been saved, to make sure that nothing is wrong. Use the "Preview" button before the "Save" button - it's your friend!
  • If you're slow in your editing and there's an editing conflict, you might not understand the error that you get. The easiest way to overcome the edit conflict is to copy whatever you have been writing, go back with your browser, and then re-enter the edit page so that you can add your edits without deleting those made before yours.
  • The wiki is a collaborative project, please do your best to work well with fellow editors.

Further help for editing the wiki can be found on the Help page.

Project Mentor

Project Mentor has been set up to allow new wiki users to have a more experienced wiki veteran mentor them for the first few weeks. Visit its page for more information!

Your User Page

One of the great things about the wiki is that every user can have his or her own user page! These pages are located in the User: namespace — in other words, they all begin with "User:" (yours is User:CaptainVideo). The appropriate place to write about yourself or your characters is on your user page, or a subpage of that page (e.g., User:CaptainVideo/Your Character's Name). Please don't create pages about yourself outside the User: namespace. Those pages will be moved into subpages of your user page, and the original speedily deleted. If you want something to be deleted, use the speedy deletion page; that's why Criterion 7 was made.

User Talk Pages

Every user has a talk page, found by clicking the "discussion" link at the top of his or her user page, or by going directly to it (yours would be User talk:CaptainVideo). If you have a question for someone, or want to say something to him or her, his or her user talk page is the place.

However, many users on the wiki have established specific guidelines for how their user talk pages are to be treated — where new comments should go, how they should be written, what is or is not okay to talk about, etc. Be sure to look for guidelines on the talk page before you leave a comment.

If you don't see any guidelines specified, the assumption is that you should place your comment at the bottom of the talk page, under a level 2 heading. This can be accomplished by clicking the "+" link next to the "edit" tab at the top of the talk page, or by manually typing in your message in this format:

==Message title==

Your message goes here

When replying to a comment already laid on the page, remember to indent it correctly: do it by inserting as many colons plus one to the message you're replying to at the begining of your message, like this:

==Message title==

Your message

:User's reply

::Your reply
The Suggestions Page

We know that as a new user, you want to share your ideas with us. But a community as big as ours has already seen all kind of suggestions, and it's possible that we've already seen something very similar to the ideas you have. Follow these simple guidelines to make sure that your suggestion gets the respect that it deserves:

  • We strongly recommend that you read the Suggestions Dos and Do Nots and the Frequently Suggested Ideas pages so that you will have an idea of what kind of suggestions are likely to be accepted and what kind are ridiculous in the eyes of the community. The pages might look long and time-consuming to read, but you will find them entertaining and helpful.
  • You might also want to look at the Previous Days Suggestions. These contain a record of all previous suggestions. Use the search function in your browser to search for keywords relating to the suggestion you want to make.
  • It may be helpful to wait a few days to get a feel for the wiki and the other users before subjecting your idea to any possible criticism. If you're unsure, the Suggestions Discussion page is good neutral territory to suggest, gather feedback, and refine your idea before officially submitting it.
  • Write your suggestion according to these steps. If it looks too complicated for you, ask for help.
  • You can't modify a suggestion that you've written once it has been posted on the Suggestions page. You can withdraw and resubmit it with changes later, but only do that if people liked your original suggestion while requesting changes, not if it was Spaminated.
  • If you get stuck at ANY point in writing your suggestion, ask for help. There's no shame in being new and after a few times, you'll get the hang of it.

Remember: These guidelines may look difficult to learn and follow, but they're mainly just common sense! Think about what you're going to say or do before you do it! If you don't make an effort to do so, then why would others have the obligation to be nice to you? Feel free to ask any Project Welcome member if you need help, that's our purpose anyways!

If you want to delete this text, just delete the {{Welcomenewbie}} line from your talk page. Remember that you can always have access to these tips on the Project Welcome/Welcomenewbie page.
