User talk:Chris' 'Redfield

From The Urban Dead Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Hi Chris' 'Redfield! As we can see, you made your first edits to this wiki not long ago. It's OK to be new, and we encourage new blood to join and enrich our community. At the same time, we understand that no one is a perfect wiki editor straight off the bat, and, just in case you get stuck, here're some useful tips to help you out. Please take the time to read them.

General Editing
 • Never delete someone else's edits, comments, responses, etc. off community pages. To do so is considered vandalism.
 • If you write a comment it's useful to sign it so that other editors will know who wrote it. You can write "~~~~" at the end of your comment to sign it, or there's this button Image:button_sig.png on the top of the edit page that will sign for you if you want.
 • You may want to know how your edits will look before they have been saved, to make sure that nothing is wrong. Use the "Preview" button before the "Save" button - it's your friend!
 • If you're slow in your editing and there's an editing conflict, you might not understand the error that you get. The easiest way to overcome the edit conflict is to copy whatever you have been writing, go back with your browser, and then re-enter the edit page so that you can add your edits without deleting those made before yours.
 • The wiki is a collaborative project, please do your best to work well with fellow editors.

Further help for editing the wiki can be found on the Help page.

Project Mentor

Project Mentor has been set up to allow new wiki users to have a more experienced wiki veteran mentor them for the first few weeks. Visit its page for more information!

Your User Page

One of the great things about the wiki is that every user can have his or her own user page! These pages are located in the User: namespace — in other words, they all begin with "User:" (yours is User:Chris' 'Redfield). The appropriate place to write about yourself or your characters is on your user page, or a subpage of that page (e.g., User:Chris' 'Redfield/Your Character's Name). Please don't create pages about yourself outside the User: namespace. Those pages will be moved into subpages of your user page, and the original speedily deleted. If you want something to be deleted, use the speedy deletion page; that's why Criterion 7 was made.

User Talk Pages

Every user has a talk page, found by clicking the "discussion" link at the top of his or her user page, or by going directly to it (yours would be User talk:Chris' 'Redfield). If you have a question for someone, or want to say something to him or her, his or her user talk page is the place.

However, many users on the wiki have established specific guidelines for how their user talk pages are to be treated — where new comments should go, how they should be written, what is or is not okay to talk about, etc. Be sure to look for guidelines on the talk page before you leave a comment.

If you don't see any guidelines specified, the assumption is that you should place your comment at the bottom of the talk page, under a level 2 heading. This can be accomplished by clicking the "+" link next to the "edit" tab at the top of the talk page, or by manually typing in your message in this format:

Message title
Your message goes here

When replying to a comment already laid on the page, remember to indent it correctly: do it by inserting as many colons plus one to the message you're replying to at the begining of your message, like this:

Message title
Your message

The Suggestions Page

We know that as a new user, you want to share your ideas with us. But a community as big as ours has already seen all kind of suggestions, and it's possible that we've already seen something very similar to the ideas you have. Follow these simple guidelines to make sure that your suggestion gets the respect that it deserves:

 • We strongly recommend that you read the Suggestions Dos and Do Nots and the Frequently Suggested Ideas pages so that you will have an idea of what kind of suggestions are likely to be accepted and what kind are ridiculous in the eyes of the community. The pages might look long and time-consuming to read, but you will find them entertaining and helpful.
 • You might also want to look at the Previous Days Suggestions. These contain a record of all previous suggestions. Use the search function in your browser to search for keywords relating to the suggestion you want to make.
 • It may be helpful to wait a few days to get a feel for the wiki and the other users before subjecting your idea to any possible criticism. If you're unsure, the Suggestions Discussion page is good neutral territory to suggest, gather feedback, and refine your idea before officially submitting it.
 • Write your suggestion according to these steps. If it looks too complicated for you, ask for help.
 • You can't modify a suggestion that you've written once it has been posted on the Suggestions page. You can withdraw and resubmit it with changes later, but only do that if people liked your original suggestion while requesting changes, not if it was Spaminated.
 • If you get stuck at ANY point in writing your suggestion, ask for help. There's no shame in being new and after a few times, you'll get the hang of it.

Remember: These guidelines may look difficult to learn and follow, but they're mainly just common sense! Think about what you're going to say or do before you do it! If you don't make an effort to do so, then why would others have the obligation to be nice to you? Feel free to ask any Project Welcome member if you need help, that's our purpose anyways!

If you want to delete this text, just delete the Welcomenewbie line from your talk page. Remember that you can always have access to these tips on the Project Welcome/Welcomenewbie page.--Cap'n Silly T/W/G/P/C 02:50, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

 • Ditto the above. You do make some great templates, but try not to save your images with the same name as images already in the database, it overwrites them. Unless you overwrote them on purpose which would just be wierd. Anyway...--Klentis Maccabee 01:18, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dulston

Hey, I figured I should contact you because I noticed your update to the group suburb listing. I first wanted to say that no, OMC did not disappear, as you no doubt assumed. If you would please check the list you will see that it is listed as Outside Mobile Connections, because it's full name fits (I prefer using an acronym only when a name is too long and text wraps). Second, and forgive me if I stepped out of bounds here, I created a thumbnail group icon for your group. The reason, well, your standard OMC group logo is too detailed and when it's reduced to 25x25 you can't tell the difference between it and a smudge. As such I grabbed the top of the transmitting tower in your logo and used that. After all, this is just for the suburb listing and it speaks volumes about your group's goals. Well, more than a smudge at least. Lastly, the list is organized in alphabetical or. So "D" before "O" and so on. While you're free to change the thumbnail icon to your own logo (hey, it's your group), the list will stay in that order. The exception goes to PKer/Zombie groups, they get their own list (in alphabetical order at the bottom). These lists used to be titled, but I got hit with a "must conform to wiki standards" thing a while back, so I kept the lists intact, but removed the titles. Well I hope this clears everything up. If you have any comments feel free to post them on my user Talk page. Oh, and welcome to Dulston. --Mobius187 March 21 2007, 8:23 AM (EST)

[edit] Something Random!

I noticed you slapping together 300 templates/awards, and I'd suggest you make one involving the queen. Preferably I could also be awarded said template, cuz I'm tough like her. ;)--Lachryma 01:49, 3 April 2007 (BST)

ok then! i will!!! Chris' 'Redfield 01:49, 3 April 2007 (BST)

Excellent, she's awesome. And we can talk here, it's fine.--Lachryma 01:51, 3 April 2007 (BST)

ok...check out my page i am working on!!! type sparta in the search box! Chris' 'Redfield 01:52, 3 April 2007 (BST)

Your page is very lovely. I imagine you put a lot of time into it, no? And that queen template...mind if I mess with it a touch?--Lachryma 02:04, 3 April 2007 (BST)

only a little. it took about 3 hours.Chris' 'Redfield 07:36, 3 April 2007 (BST)

I didn't mess with it...you could always check the history if you're curious...And your strength one and Queen's Blessing are the same...--Lachryma 01:34, 5 April 2007 (BST)
Oh okay, just letting you know.--Lachryma 18:35, 6 April 2007 (BST)
A griefer is someone that messes with other players. Someone who destroys gennies, tears down cades, PKs, spams up the radio...those are all griefer activities.--Lachryma 18:48, 6 April 2007 (BST)

Yeah...I don't see why zombies would come to said fumes. They already got feeding groans to follow, so I don't see the point.--Lachryma 19:03, 6 April 2007 (BST)

Hi, I noticed that you don't use links to point to specific pages, one of the better features of wiki is the ease with you can make those links so people can easily navigate between pages. just type Sparta strike force or sparta to get Sparta strike force or sparta as links. Hope they help--Vista 20:33, 6 April 2007 (BST)

My mistake, sorry--Vista 14:24, 7 April 2007 (BST)

[edit] Mobile Phone Masts

Hey man,

Sure, all the help we can get! If you look at the Mobile Phone Mast page, you can see which phones are down. We've got a nice coverage in the east by now!

I'll add the OMC to the Malton Telephone page!

Cheers,

SkullnBones

I dont think its uncalled for. You made a stupid suggestion that clearly violated the basic laws of suggestion making, and I called you a jackass, Jackass. Graaj

[edit] West Grayside Building Information Center

Check my comments on it's talk page. I was going first to repair all things sone wrong, but there are just many of them. Of most important is that page titles of many in 5 of 9 danger report plugs are wrong and require page moves... So i'd like to ask you, do you really think whole this bic is worth being? It wasn't used - you created the plaugs, but they were not filled with any information from creating on 17th May (except 1 hospital). It would be much easier just to delete the whole thing... --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 16:20, 13 June 2007 (BST)

The Dulston one isn't really active either. If you think it can be helpfull - make it helpfull. Let there be people who update it, who use it... It just looks pathetic as it is now --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 17:46, 13 June 2007 (BST)
Hypothetically they will, but how many survivors really know about it? Most of buildings there don't even have their wiki pages and those which have - just stubs without Blocks. I don't have anything agaist bics, i'm running zic myself, but i've seen that this resource had next to none cotributions so far --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 17:58, 13 June 2007 (BST)

[edit] You There!

Stop making redundant pages! You know that 'PKer's' one? Yeah, all that info is on the PKer page. Ditto with Ransack and Ransacked. Turn the latter into a redirect to the former, okay?--Lachryma 22:05, 12 July 2007 (BST)

Ah, I didn't make myself clear. I shall use a random example to get my point across. There is a rat and a bear in that room. The former has a long tail, and the latter does not. Get it?--Lachryma 22:30, 12 July 2007 (BST)
Excellent, excellent. Remember, redirect ( #REDIRECT Page Name )=good, while redundant stuff=bad.--Lachryma 00:14, 13 July 2007 (BST)
Okay, well, it was dealt with, so don't worry.--Lachryma 19:52, 13 July 2007 (BST)

[edit] Dowdney mall

In recent news I am sure you have heard that the LUE is destroying Malton as we know it. I ask for your assistance. Would you and any help OMC can offer come to Santlerville to help us defend? If group does not want to defend the mall could you defend the phone mast? We need as many soldiers as possible as we also have reason to believe that the RRF will be in on this with the LUE, KZT, and Ferals. This is shaping up to be the greatest battle in Malton history. Jaydepps 19:18, 15 July 2007 (BST)

[edit] Dude

You edited your suggestion. Get over it and make a new one, with the full text.  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  22:48, 19 October 2007 (BST)

Never mind Nalikill. He is a jackass. Your suggestion is the right place and following the suggestion page guidelines. It's being spammed, but at least it doesnt break any of this wiki guidelines. Better luck next time :) --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 01:17, 20 October 2007 (BST)
