Yo

Hoo yo rollin wif? TNR? Ioncannon11 09:07, 7 August 2008 (BST)

I'm not with any group at the moment, since TNR disbanded. I quite like being independent. Are you in a particularly awesome group? Garum 12:37, 7 August 2008 (BST)

HiPS edit conflict

Why are you being such a fucking pedant about this? There's nothing wrong with the page as I last edited it. I actually took note of the implications of your edit and revised to make the article less "biased"... So, what is your problem with continually being a prick trying to "win" this? Seriously, buddy... Lay off. The idea that ALL the maps are inherently unreliable is part of the paragraph already. If I want to discuss the Scent Map on its own terms, I can. I'd normally let this be, but the way you're dealing with this smells quite petty, so I'm not inclined to put up with it. I will take this to Arby if you don't back off... --WanYao 11:20, 22 June 2008 (BST)

Garum

Hey, I saw that TNR has disbanded. Would you be interested in joining the Assault and Rescue Team Metal Fox. We are semi-mobile and usually reside in Pescodside/Rolt Heights. Metal Fox was BlaneMCC's first group. Xombiewannabe may be returning to service for us; I also presented the offer to Tom and Nazdreg. I will give all TNR members a decent rank and powers. Thanks for reading. Jaydepps 23:37, 25 May 2008 (BST)

Please stop edit warring and take the issue to Arbitration. I'm leaving the page protected until the case begins so get a move on. This has gone on way too long. -- Cheese 23:38, 17 May 2008 (BST)

Hi

Hi Garum! As we can see, you made your first edits to this wiki not long ago. It's OK to be new, and we encourage new blood to join and enrich our community. At the same time, we understand that no one is a perfect wiki editor straight off the bat, and, just in case you get stuck, here're some useful tips to help you out. Please take the time to read them.

General Editing
  • Never delete someone else's edits, comments, responses, etc. off community pages. To do so is considered vandalism.
  • If you write a comment it's useful to sign it so that other editors will know who wrote it. You can write "~~~~" at the end of your comment to sign it, or there's this button Sign.png on the top of the edit page that will sign for you if you want.
  • You may want to know how your edits will look before they have been saved, to make sure that nothing is wrong. Use the "Preview" button before the "Save" button - it's your friend!
  • If you're slow in your editing and there's an editing conflict, you might not understand the error that you get. The easiest way to overcome the edit conflict is to copy whatever you have been writing, go back with your browser, and then re-enter the edit page so that you can add your edits without deleting those made before yours.
  • The wiki is a collaborative project, please do your best to work well with fellow editors.

Further help for editing the wiki can be found on the Help page.

Project Mentor

Project Mentor has been set up to allow new wiki users to have a more experienced wiki veteran mentor them for the first few weeks. Visit its page for more information!

Your User Page

One of the great things about the wiki is that every user can have his or her own user page! These pages are located in the User: namespace — in other words, they all begin with "User:" (yours is User:Garum). The appropriate place to write about yourself or your characters is on your user page, or a subpage of that page (e.g., User:Garum/Your Character's Name). Please don't create pages about yourself outside the User: namespace. Those pages will be moved into subpages of your user page, and the original speedily deleted. If you want something to be deleted, use the speedy deletion page; that's why Criterion 7 was made.

User Talk Pages

Every user has a talk page, found by clicking the "discussion" link at the top of his or her user page, or by going directly to it (yours would be User talk:Garum). If you have a question for someone, or want to say something to him or her, his or her user talk page is the place.

However, many users on the wiki have established specific guidelines for how their user talk pages are to be treated — where new comments should go, how they should be written, what is or is not okay to talk about, etc. Be sure to look for guidelines on the talk page before you leave a comment.

If you don't see any guidelines specified, the assumption is that you should place your comment at the bottom of the talk page, under a level 2 heading. This can be accomplished by clicking the "+" link next to the "edit" tab at the top of the talk page, or by manually typing in your message in this format:

==Message title==

Your message goes here

When replying to a comment already laid on the page, remember to indent it correctly: do it by inserting as many colons plus one to the message you're replying to at the begining of your message, like this:

==Message title==

The Suggestions Page

We know that as a new user, you want to share your ideas with us. But a community as big as ours has already seen all kind of suggestions, and it's possible that we've already seen something very similar to the ideas you have. Follow these simple guidelines to make sure that your suggestion gets the respect that it deserves:

  • We strongly recommend that you read the Suggestions Dos and Do Nots and the Frequently Suggested Ideas pages so that you will have an idea of what kind of suggestions are likely to be accepted and what kind are ridiculous in the eyes of the community. The pages might look long and time-consuming to read, but you will find them entertaining and helpful.
  • You might also want to look at the Previous Days Suggestions. These contain a record of all previous suggestions. Use the search function in your browser to search for keywords relating to the suggestion you want to make.
  • It may be helpful to wait a few days to get a feel for the wiki and the other users before subjecting your idea to any possible criticism. If you're unsure, the Suggestions Discussion page is good neutral territory to suggest, gather feedback, and refine your idea before officially submitting it.
  • Write your suggestion according to these steps. If it looks too complicated for you, ask for help.
  • You can't modify a suggestion that you've written once it has been posted on the Suggestions page. You can withdraw and resubmit it with changes later, but only do that if people liked your original suggestion while requesting changes, not if it was Spaminated.
  • If you get stuck at ANY point in writing your suggestion, ask for help. There's no shame in being new and after a few times, you'll get the hang of it.
Additional Contacts

If there's anything not covered by this introduction, you still have plenty of avenues to find some extra help. Project Welcome and Project Mentor are perfect starting points, but if you have something more pressing at hand, don't be afraid to get in touch with the administration staff.

Remember: These guidelines may look difficult to learn and follow, but they're mainly just common sense! Think about what you're going to say or do before you do it! If you don't make an effort to do so, then why would others have the obligation to be nice to you? Feel free to ask any Project Welcome member if you need help, that's our purpose anyways!

If you want to delete this text, just delete the {{Welcomenewbie}} line from your talk page. Remember that you can always have access to these tips on the Project Welcome/Welcomenewbie page. --AXE HACK TALK χIII 17:00, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Re:One For The History Books

Thanks for the heads up.--Rico Montoya 02:26, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Hey

thanks for the quick response. I mostly put that up there to see if anyone would see it slash leave me a message. I thought the answer to both would be no, but hey, a fellow stalker (of recent changes). I've had a small amount to do with blanemcc through one of my alts being a beaver and seeing him on our forum and also Justin was up at Giddings and saw all the anti-blane radio spam. charming it was. I was hoping for a more southern group as i've got one guy based in Santlerville and one up near Dakers but i'll certainly consider the NR, seems like a fun sorta group to waste my time on.--Jed 09:29, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Nah Justin's up north at the moment too. he was in giddings and i've just moved him out and haven't used him in awhile. I haven't ever done much in the south so i was looking for something down there, i might head arkham way. I'll keep you guys on the shortlist though.--Jed 11:09, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

That's a cool map. I had tried to do something similar in the past, but couldn't manage to make it work, so kudos. --Toejam 13:50, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Molebank

Please explain yourself for why you deleted a group of people's reports in Molebank's Recent News section. you gave no reason when you made the edit.--Lenglon 08:02, 28 April 2008 (BST)

on further observation i realized that you moved them to the discussion page. that was reasonable however could you please include this information when you make similar edits in the future?--Lenglon 08:06, 28 April 2008 (BST)

Thanks for updating that. Nice work, too- you're the first person to update one of those without something happening that makes the map look funny! SIM Core Map.png Swiers 18:27, 2 May 2008 (BST)

Recruitment pitch

Hello, Garum- I notice that you've been traveling an awful lot, and scouting as you go. I happen to be the current director of a scouting group, and we're looking for people with an interest in doing just that. Essentially, we take one suburb at a time, look at every resource building and revive point, as well as as many other buildings of interest in possible, and write a rigorous suburb report to be shared with other groups. You'd be highly independent, choosing where and how you wanted to operate (whether to be totally solo, or work with a team from another group, for example), and what you'd be doing wouldn't be substantially different from what you're doing now- just more rigorous. Think you'd be interested in becoming and Agent of Malton Central Intelligence?--FT MCI 15:29, 30 May 2008 (BST)

Experimental Mapping

Hello, we've not met but I'd like to say I've noticed that you're making some nice contributions to the place, I like it. Have some duty-free respect from myself. I'd like to say that this is pretty damned cool and I was wondering if it was going to ever become more than a sandbox experiment because, and I think I mentioned this, it's pretty damned cool. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 00:07, 13 June 2008 (BST)

It's own page! Nice. As far as solving the suburb thing goes, it might be possible to adapt the Scenteral Intelligence Map/sub names that displays the suburb names on SIMgrid to display on the Omnimap. They would go on top of every layer apart from the mall links. I imagine that you probably would have added this by now though if that was the solution you wanted. I get the feeling you'd rather have it like it is now, but clicking on a suburb takes you to that suburb. What's the solution you're after? -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 15:43, 13 June 2008 (BST)
You're ok for inclusion limits at the moment. It's at 206k out of 307k max. For the suburbs, I think that basically what is needed IS a sub names type template. But instead of links by text, each cell is a giant clickable region to each suburb. I don't know how that would be done (or indeed if it's possible). At any rate it gets around using images. I'll start some sandbox experiments. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 16:49, 13 June 2008 (BST)
No luck down that route...though I did work out that the sub names template is a bit dodgy maths wise and I think I could fix that. Somewhat unrelated to the issue at hand though. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 17:29, 13 June 2008 (BST)

http://sim.urbandead.info

I see you update SIM a lot. You'll probably want to start using the above site instead / as well. SIM was sort of a "test version" of that site, and I've moved the wiki images over there already. I'm probably gonna just kill the wiki version entirely, or at least have it draw its images from the website, because the website is much, much, much easier to update. Sandbox

Hey Garum, in a related message to the above, User:Garum/Omnimap is using an outdated version of SIMgrid. It would be great if you'd update your copy from the new page, it's working on a different system now. Also, I'll be putting up the old system for A/SD shortly, and the request may be denied until it the old system isn't in use at all. They're finiky about that sometimes. Thanks in advance. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 16:32, 2 July 2008 (BST)

OK, I've put that page up for speedy delete. It's not needed anymore. Garum 16:52, 2 July 2008 (BST)
