User talk:Gass mask
From The Urban Dead Wiki
Hi Gass mask! As we can see, you made your first edits to this wiki not long ago. It's OK to be new, and we encourage new blood to join and enrich our community. At the same time, we understand that no one is a perfect wiki editor straight off the bat, and, just in case you get stuck, here're some useful tips to help you out. Please take the time to read them.

Project Mentor has been set up to allow new wiki users to have a more experienced wiki veteran mentor them for the first few weeks. Visit its page for more information! |
| Your User Page |
|
One of the great things about the wiki is that every user can have his or her own user page! These pages are located in the User: namespace — in other words, they all begin with "User:" (yours is User:Gass mask). The appropriate place to write about yourself or your characters is on your user page, or a subpage of that page (e.g., User:Gass mask/Your Character's Name). Please don't create pages about yourself outside the User: namespace. Those pages will be moved into subpages of your user page, and the original speedily deleted. If you want something to be deleted, use the speedy deletion page; that's why Criterion 7 was made. |
| User Talk Pages |
|
Every user has a talk page, found by clicking the "discussion" link at the top of his or her user page, or by going directly to it (yours would be User talk:Gass mask). If you have a question for someone, or want to say something to him or her, his or her user talk page is the place. However, many users on the wiki have established specific guidelines for how their user talk pages are to be treated — where new comments should go, how they should be written, what is or is not okay to talk about, etc. Be sure to look for guidelines on the talk page before you leave a comment. If you don't see any guidelines specified, the assumption is that you should place your comment at the bottom of the talk page, under a level 2 heading. This can be accomplished by clicking the "+" link next to the "edit" tab at the top of the talk page, or by manually typing in your message in this format: ==Message title==
Your message goes here When replying to a comment already laid on the page, remember to indent it correctly: do it by inserting as many colons plus one to the message you're replying to at the begining of your message, like this: ==Message title==

| The Suggestions Page |

We know that as a new user, you want to share your ideas with us. But a community as big as ours has already seen all kind of suggestions, and it's possible that we've already seen something very similar to the ideas you have. Follow these simple guidelines to make sure that your suggestion gets the respect that it deserves:

If there's anything not covered by this introduction, you still have plenty of avenues to find some extra help. Project Welcome and Project Mentor are perfect starting points, but if you have something more pressing at hand, don't be afraid to get in touch with the administration staff. |
Remember: These guidelines may look difficult to learn and follow, but they're mainly just common sense! Think about what you're going to say or do before you do it! If you don't make an effort to do so, then why would others have the obligation to be nice to you? Feel free to ask any Project Welcome member if you need help, that's our purpose anyways!
If you want to delete this text, just delete the {{Welcomenewbie}} line from your talk page. Remember that you can always have access to these tips on the Project Welcome/Welcomenewbie page. Sockem 01:37, 19 October 2007 (BST)
Discussion
Saw your comment on Sockems page. The welcomenewbie thing is something some people on the wiki spam on new users pages. it has no other implications involved except that someone saw you and wanted to fluff their contribs page by spamming your talk with the template (I dont doubt there is a sincere welcome spammer out there, i just have yet to meet him/her). Anyway, if you want to integrate, give it a couple of weeks while you learn the standards of discussion here. The administration pages (Accessed from the front page) as well as the suggestions pages and talk pages should help. Perhaps read a few of the older users talk pages for a little more integration info (I dont suggest mine, its gone 17 months without an archiving, and some of it is positively ancient). Most people here tend to be ok. This isnt wikipedia though, its a games wiki which means most of the stuff tries to be relevant to the game. Also, i suggest you read a few of the more relevant policy documents, such as the vandalism guidelines, and perhaps the administration guidelines so you know where everyone stands on such things. Always a good idea to lurk for a while posting comments when you feel they are needed rather than leaping right in, though either works. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 02:38, 19 October 2007 (BST)
Heh, i didnt think you did anything wrong. And you use talk pages (Talk:pagename usually) to talk to people opn the subject. Usually they are accessed through the discussion tab. Anyone can post on them, and since this one is yours, you can remove the stuff if you want, or archive it by creating subpages such as User_talk:Gass mask/Archive and removing the content from this one and placing it there. --The Grimch U!
