Message from the DEM

Hello, we're still trying to reach TechCom. So far our attempts have failed when using Talk:TechCom and the talk page for your CEO. Any chances of getting together and discuss some coordination in the Darvall Heights/Eastonwood area? For d 10:39, 22 August 2006 (BST)

Territory

Well, first for full disclosure, the DEM is strongly against 'claiming' territory. That desire of survivors to control turf is the #1 cause of PK wars and, IMHO, a massive distraction therefor from our real problem, the zombie plague! But then the DEM is Malton-wide, and our view on strategy and tactics for UD have always been very different from most groups in Urban Dead. I like to think we have been fairly successful though. So my opinion is quite biased, as far as survivor groups go.

Now on the other hand, zombies and survivors battling for dominance over an area is what the game is all about! :D

Now, to your specific questions:

  • Newbie View - This would require significant changes to the game by Kevan in order to be seen by a new player. Not only to show the claim(s) to the newbie, but how to determine and update such claims? Even at the suburb level in the wiki, the groups operating section is frequently weeks, if not months, out of date.
  • Time Sensitive - Same.
  • Keeping Score - Same. Again, how and where would this be determined and tracked?
  • Ownership - Ah, this starts to touch on how it would be handled. All of the above are game suggestions, this is just a suggestion on how it might be implemented. But still, Kevan would need to be convinced the whole concept was worth implementing into the core game.
  • Empty blocks - If implemented this would certainly be neat.
  • Map - Ditto.

There have been a few groups and organizations that have come up with templates and/or categories that they have started plastering on suburb pages and such, claiming it as 'theirs' in one way or another. I can not think of a single example among survivor groups where this has gone well, and has frequently been the kiss of death for those groups. The only group I know of, zombie or survivor, in all of Malton to have managed to pull this off successfully for any length of time is the RRFs control of Ridleybank. In short, it is technically impractical, and IMHO, not desirable. --Gilant talk|DEM 18:02, 26 May 2006 (BST)

    • Galliant Gilant - thanks for the info. I had not considered the negative points against territory. I will think on this some more. Thank you sir! --LadyAG 13:39, 31 May 2006 (BST)

Cheeseburger

I make it my mission to add at least one nonsenical, stupid heading per page. Talk:TechCom#UBP Map - There is a template for that y'know. {{BarricadePlan}} –Xoid STFU! 18:17, 14 June 2006 (BST)
