A.L.I.C.E. - NecroNet 2.0
Forms FORM-29827281-12:
Test Assessment Report

This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here:
HUGE SUCCESS.
It's hard to overstate
my satisfaction.
NecroTech Industries
We do what we must
because we can.
For the good of all of us.
Except the ones who are dead.

But there's no sense crying
over every mistake
You just keep on trying
till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And the scanning is fun.
For the people who are
still alive.

:)

OMFG! CAKE! W00T!
Lufio has reported over 150 NecroNet scans, and in doing so, proven their absolute dedication to NecroWatch. Lufio has been rewarded with cake that is delicious and moist.

Congratulations. A.L.I.C.E. has granted you authorization to officially display this template with honor. I know these congrats are a bit late, but I still wanted you to know that you have done us proud with all your hard work. Good job. --Mobius 13:55, 5 August 2008 (BST)

[edit] Organizing Penny Heights

Hi Lufio, I've seen your scans and read your posts and agree with your levelheaded approach and as a personal aside, I think you do good work. Just wanted to say hi and maybe get a dialog started. I think Penny Heights can be much more/better protected but there is such a lack of organization. Nowhere I looked have I seen a Standard Operating Procedure for 'burb security, zombie infiltration, etc...For example, what is our typical population? Defense strategies would change depending on those very numbers. Do we have an Elite Strike force for PH? Something like 100 members at level 15 or higher (Yeah, I know, I'm dreamin'...) I like the idea of superior force numbers brought to bear. How many doctors, gas men, Necro Techs, scouts, etc... do we have? What CAN we prepare for with what we have? I am inspired to think along these lines by what I saw at The Haslock Building & THEM. They really love pie up there!--Dr Mycroft Chris 20:13, 20 April 2008 (BST)

Reply copied from my discussion page--Dr Mycroft Chris 06:53, 23 April 2008 (BST)

Hello there. Penny Heights is experiencing an artificial population boom right now. Normally, the biggest population centers are the two malls (50-75 in Joachim, 40-80 in Lumber), a mishmash of loners and groups. Other areas where residents congregate are the two hospitals (12+) where the Lumberjacks make their home and the newbie-accessible safehouses, Normandare Boulevard Police Department (6-12) and Hagger Square Fire Station (3-9), and the two NT Buildings (6-12). But with the horde of undead rampaging through Malton, we have a lot of refugees.

The older groups (e.g. the Lumberjacks, StarCake Faction) have plenty of L41 players, but they rarely participate in the Wiki pages for Penny Heights. They've got their own websites. The newer organizations make more noise, but I don't know what the levels are for most of their members. Organizing a suburb-wide response, other than huddle up in the Malls and NT Buildings, solely through the Wiki is not possible. It has to be done in-game as well.

Getting all those players to work as one is going to require a lot of AP. There are too many small groups with their own ideas that are quite vocal. There are also older groups that will do their own thing regardless of what's being shouted around on the radio. To get people to listen to your ideas, you have to air your propaganda on a daily basis. You have to out-shout everyone else and bombard the residents with your words. Do that long enough, and people will listen. --The Masked Lurker 08:01, 21 April 2008 (BST)

Thanks for your timely response. So, in peace time we're looking at a population of >200? Wow...that is not a lot. I also agree with your succinct summation of PH groups. Regardless, we should still have an easy to find & implement plan that is well known ahead of time. I guess that is what has me dumbfounded, there is so much on the wiki about PH and yet it seems so disorganized in the 'burb itself.--Dr Mycroft Chris 01:40, 22 April 2008 (BST)
Perhaps we need to get a suburb wide forum operating with a rep from each group on it, or at least get all the key groups to agree on a direction and basic plans then get them to spread the word in game as well as lead by example. You're certainly right about everyone going off and doing their own thing...--J3D 08:53, 21 April 2008 (BST)
We already have one. But no one uses it.--Nick? Support Project CP KTHXBYE 09:26, 21 April 2008 (BST)
Beyond that we also need a chat room for real time communication during a siege--Dr Mycroft Chris 18:33, 23 April 2008 (BST)
It's a nice idea but spies are generally a massive buzzkill in chatrooms. It just wouldn't work in practice. Currently, in my opinion everyone is getting along okayish (besides for BH and Dragonhead obviously), I for one was rather suprised at how well PH recovered from the dead once it took the suburb out. still, one thing that I have noticed is how many many many people herd together in the larger structures. In Lumber Mall people in the north almost outnumber the south by 3 to 1, so it's really uneven and there's not much that can be done with it. Simple psychology and common sense indicates the north is the best place to be, more place to run, but too many people are in single locations. As for a rep from each group on it, once again nice idea but not everyone would be for it. Lumber Mall Security host their own 'crimes' section which keeps track of griefers in the mall, but there are so many at times that it becomes impractical to post them in one place and then another. So one way which we try to help is to broadcast griefers details in the hope people will add, KOS and DNR when they see them. In my opinion it will be a long time till the whole of the suburb is organized, but because of its size and location it is a lot easier than somewhere such as Yagoton. Still, if we have survived this well till now we must be doing something right. Acoustic Pie 00:30, 24 April 2008 (BST)

Yeah stupid BM and DH are lame. I never go to south lumber so i didn't notice that, if you need more people just come up and yell at us through the radio. I say in the north cos i never head south from lumber, its always north to either junkyard for reviving or rothwell.--J3D 00:52, 24 April 2008 (BST)

[edit] Replacing NT scan with static

I thought if the building's NT equipment was offline, it would be better to reflect that, rather than leaving a very dated graphic up. It would be better if the template supported a flag indicating the status (status=offline|online) which overrides the filename--so people don't have to change the graphic link.

I will stop doing what I am doing though, thanks for the notice. Chetos 13:45, 31 March 2008 (BST)

[edit] pennny heights news

Hmmm... thanks for bringing that to my attention... My rationale was that the blurb about PKer "catfighting" wasn't really news... There is a lot of controversy about PK stuff in the News, but I handle it this way: if there is a large spat of PKing, it's news. But a few isolated incidents, or a PK war involving only a handful (or two!) players is usually not news. I felt that post fell into the latter... The Zedapalooza info that was in there, too, I guess it got "caught in the crossfire"... If feel I was in error, please re-post the article... I'm certainly not infallible, and it's not solely one person's judgement to make -- but when I am on scene, I do make that judgement call... if you know what I mean? ... Hope this clears things up a bit. Thanks. --WanYao 16:14, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

i'm not sure if you put a version of the report back, or what? i'm not here to fight with you or edit war, i was going to just put your article back, but it seems that information is there already? if not, by all means repost whatever you think i shouldn't have taken out...

[edit] VZW Zedapalooza Concert

Thanks for the heads up, we have been a bit behind in advertising our concert tour of Malton. I added a bit to the history of Club Croxford and to the Suburb history as well. --Shazzelim 16:35, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: No Comments in DangerReports

Those danger reports pertain to a suburb I alone maintain, evident by the fact I'm the only one thats updated it. If you dont think its enough information, hey you're right. But thats the level of information I choose to update. Otherwise there wouldnt be, even this sparse amount, information on those locations. If you can do a better job, go right ahead. As it is, an update of the statues alone without detail is better then no update/old info. --Memoman 22:31, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

For a second I thought you were talking about something else, but I was thinking of the right thing. --Memoman 22:36, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Nice work

on the Penny Heights pages.--Nick 10:50, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Should we remove the inactive revive points from this list?--Nick 10:56, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
EDIT I'm going offline now anyway so if you think yes feel free to do it yourself otherwise I'll do it tomorrow.--Nick 10:57, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Personally, I like having a record of defunct Revive Points, for completeness' sake. There's already a list of active Revive Points in the main page for the suburb. But if it bothers you that much... --The Masked Lurker 15:59, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] More Badges!?!

Yes. Your wildest dream has come true. More ribbon badges are now available at NecroWatch. There are now 3 new ribbons for you to earn: Combat Recon, Morrish Sentinel, and Raines Hills Tour of Duty. Please note that only scans reported after January 29th, 2008 count towards Combat Recon (so as to be fair to newcomers). Of course right now 2 ribbons could be earned in one scan, so be sure to visit the Battle of Pitneybank before it's all over. Which shouldn't be anytime soon, mind you. Also look forward to title trophies as the next update, for those NecroTechnicians who consider themselves "the best of the best". ;) --Mobius187 01:47, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Building updates

Stop switching things to unknown.

It's damned annoying. Put safe if it's not ruined and there's no zombies outside, and under attack if it has zombies outside but isn't ruined. If you only see it in passing, don't disturb the report that was there.  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  22:51, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

If we're not supposed to use the "unknown" tag, why do we have it? I tend to use it when I haven't actually entered the building in question at the time of the update. Though I may have an idea if it's ruined or powered or under attack, it is still unknown to me what is going on behind the barricades. --The Masked Lurker 06:26, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Scanning Made Easy!

Greetings Lufio. I wanted to take a moment to help provide additional information on posting scans, as you mentioned an interest. First off, I have no knowledge how iWitness works, per say, so I'm at a loss as to why it failed to record your scans. That, and when tables become distorted due to browser tools, are two main causes of unreported scans. Anyway, here are the steps you would take if, for example, there was already a scan image posted for an NT location (i.e. no static GIF):

  1. Go to NT's location wikipage (i.e. The Whitlock Building).
  2. Scroll down to the template where the scan is stored.
  3. Click on the "Update" link below the image.
  4. Now you're in the User:NTScan/(NT Building Name) wikipage.
  5. Click on the scan image.
  6. Now you're in the IMAGE:NTBuildingNecronet.png wikipage (for images).
  7. Click the link named: Upload a new version of this file
  8. Click the Browse button, and find the scan image on your computer.
  9. IMPORTANT: Make sure the image names match.
  10. Click the Upload button.
  11. It will tell you there already is an image with that exact name! Well duh, we know. ;)
  12. Select the first link, which states that you DO want to overwrite the old image.
  13. After that you will find yourself back on the image wikipage (i.e. step 6).
  14. IMPORTANT: Your scan image most likely will not appear until you click "Refresh" (browser).
  15. Scroll down to the Links section and select User:NTScan/(NT Building Name).
  16. Now you're back at the template wikipage for that NT location.
  17. Click the Edit tab, to edit the wikipage.
  18. In the line that starts with user= replace the old signature with yours.
  19. IMPORTANT: The template adds "--" in front of all signatures, so you don't need to add it.
  20. Save the changes.
  21. Pat yourself on the back, you're done! :)

Keep in mind that these are the steps for updating the scan only. You also may want to look into update the NecroWatch/Recon wikipage whenever you scan from a building for the first time (only) and adding to your total scans on the Members list, since whenever you post a new scan for any location you get to add +1 to your total (this even allows for the same location being scanned multiple times, scans are scans).

Also these instructions are slightly different when reporting for a location that never has had a scan reported for it. In that case you have to actually upload a new image, and be sure to update the FileType value to whatever type of image file you uploaded. Its default is GIF, because that's the animated GIF file used for the "static" image.

Hopefully by being able to upload the images yourself you can avoid the iWitness tool altogether. I also hope this helps. :) --Mobius187 13:50, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Project NecroWatch

A.L.I.C.E. - NecroNet 2.0
Greetings Lufio. I have been observing you. Do not be alarmed. I have analyzed your potential and determined that you would make a perfect test subj<<ERROR>> NecroTechnician. As an organization, NecroWatch requires absolutely no "group" affiliation or commitments, thus freeing you to act according to your own motives, desires, and goals. The only requirement from you as a NecroTechnician is the task of reporting NecroNet scans from facilities within your suburb(s). Even then you would have the choice of how often you complete this task or which facilities you would prefer to work with. If you are interested in joining all you need to do is confirm your membership by signing up here. Starting on January 1st 2008 all NecroNet scans reported to NecroWatch by licensed NecroTechnicians will count towards ranks with the ultimate prize of earning delicious cake.
Ah, what the hell. It's not too much of a hassle to do a Necronet Scan every now and then when I stop by to record the status of an NT Building. I'll just have to roam further afield though to get the Necronet Scans of neighboring suburbs. --The Masked Lurker 05:13, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] POV and YOU

This is Wikipedia, where you must be non-biased toward both the Zombies and the Survivors. It doesn't matter how well you've sourced your facts, the articles you place must be at a neutral point of view toward all sides. If you wish to post a POV statement, use talk pages, your user page, or group/group talk pages. Building locations, suburb pages, and factual articles are not the place to put your opinion. --KamdenM|W|T|H 02:00, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

What words used were biased against either side? If no one points out exactly where I was describing events wrong at the very least, how can I prevent it from happening in the future? At the moment, it looks like to me that discussions about the convoluted mess that is the identity of the people behind the Martial Law nonsense gripping Penny Heights is being suppressed. I would like clarification. --The Masked Lurker 10:29, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome!

Hi Lufio! As we can see, you made your first edits to this wiki not long ago. It's OK to be new, and we encourage new blood to join and enrich our community. At the same time, we understand that no one is a perfect wiki editor straight off the bat, and, just in case you get stuck, here're some useful tips to help you out. Please take the time to read them.

General Editing
  • Never delete someone else's edits, comments, responses, etc. off community pages. To do so is considered vandalism.
  • If you write a comment it's useful to sign it so that other editors will know who wrote it. You can write "~~~~" at the end of your comment to sign it, or there's this button Image:button_sig.png on the top of the edit page that will sign for you if you want.
  • You may want to know how your edits will look before they have been saved, to make sure that nothing is wrong. Use the "Preview" button before the "Save" button - it's your friend!
  • If you're slow in your editing and there's an editing conflict, you might not understand the error that you get. The easiest way to overcome the edit conflict is to copy whatever you have been writing, go back with your browser, and then re-enter the edit page so that you can add your edits without deleting those made before yours.
  • The wiki is a collaborative project, please do your best to work well with fellow editors.

Further help for editing the wiki can be found on the Help page.

Project Mentor

Project Mentor has been set up to allow new wiki users to have a more experienced wiki veteran mentor them for the first few weeks. Visit its page for more information!

Your User Page

One of the great things about the wiki is that every user can have his or her own user page! These pages are located in the User: namespace — in other words, they all begin with "User:" (yours is User:Lufio). The appropriate place to write about yourself or your characters is on your user page, or a subpage of that page (e.g., User:Lufio/Your Character's Name). Please don't create pages about yourself outside the User: namespace. Those pages will be moved into subpages of your user page, and the original speedily deleted. If you want something to be deleted, use the speedy deletion page; that's why Criterion 7 was made.

User Talk Pages

Every user has a talk page, found by clicking the "discussion" link at the top of his or her user page, or by going directly to it (yours would be User talk:Lufio). If you have a question for someone, or want to say something to him or her, his or her user talk page is the place.

However, many users on the wiki have established specific guidelines for how their user talk pages are to be treated — where new comments should go, how they should be written, what is or is not okay to talk about, etc. Be sure to look for guidelines on the talk page before you leave a comment.

If you don't see any guidelines specified, the assumption is that you should place your comment at the bottom of the talk page, under a level 2 heading. This can be accomplished by clicking the "+" link next to the "edit" tab at the top of the talk page, or by manually typing in your message in this format:

==Message title==

Your message goes here

When replying to a comment already laid on the page, remember to indent it correctly: do it by inserting as many colons plus one to the message you're replying to at the begining of your message, like this:

==Message title==

Your message

:User's reply

::Your reply
The Suggestions Page

We know that as a new user, you want to share your ideas with us. But a community as big as ours has already seen all kind of suggestions, and it's possible that we've already seen something very similar to the ideas you have. Follow these simple guidelines to make sure that your suggestion gets the respect that it deserves:

  • We strongly recommend that you read the Suggestions Dos and Do Nots and the Frequently Suggested Ideas pages so that you will have an idea of what kind of suggestions are likely to be accepted and what kind are ridiculous in the eyes of the community. The pages might look long and time-consuming to read, but you will find them entertaining and helpful.
  • You might also want to look at the Previous Days Suggestions. These contain a record of all previous suggestions. Use the search function in your browser to search for keywords relating to the suggestion you want to make.
  • It may be helpful to wait a few days to get a feel for the wiki and the other users before subjecting your idea to any possible criticism. If you're unsure, the Suggestions Discussion page is good neutral territory to suggest, gather feedback, and refine your idea before officially submitting it.
  • Write your suggestion according to these steps. If it looks too complicated for you, ask for help.
  • You can't modify a suggestion that you've written once it has been posted on the Suggestions page. You can withdraw and resubmit it with changes later, but only do that if people liked your original suggestion while requesting changes, not if it was Spaminated.
  • If you get stuck at ANY point in writing your suggestion, ask for help. There's no shame in being new and after a few times, you'll get the hang of it.

Remember: These guidelines may look difficult to learn and follow, but they're mainly just common sense! Think about what you're going to say or do before you do it! If you don't make an effort to do so, then why would others have the obligation to be nice to you? Feel free to ask any Project Welcome member if you need help, that's our purpose anyways!

If you want to delete this text, just delete the {{Welcomenewbie}} line from your talk page. Remember that you can always have access to these tips on the Project Welcome/Welcomenewbie page. --TSG reads Daily Ruminations - You should too! 06:34, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Nice. There's a lot about editing this wiki that I don't know or understand yet. I started an account because several of the entries in the suburb I play in hadn't been updated. I'm going to be concentrating on primarily that kind of editing work. --The Masked Lurker 13:56, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
