User talk:MK
From The Urban Dead Wiki
Hi MK! As we can see, you made your first edits to this wiki not long ago. It's OK to be new, and we encourage new blood to join and enrich our community. At the same time, we understand that no one is a perfect wiki editor straight off the bat, and, just in case you get stuck, here're some useful tips to help you out. Please take the time to read them.
| General Editing |
Further help for editing the wiki can be found on the Help page. |
| Project Mentor |
|
Project Mentor has been set up to allow new wiki users to have a more experienced wiki veteran mentor them for the first few weeks. Visit its page for more information! |
| Your User Page |
|
One of the great things about the wiki is that every user can have his or her own user page! These pages are located in the User: namespace — in other words, they all begin with "User:" (yours is User:MK). The appropriate place to write about yourself or your characters is on your user page, or a subpage of that page (e.g., User:MK/Your Character's Name). Please don't create pages about yourself outside the User: namespace. Those pages will be moved into subpages of your user page, and the original speedily deleted. If you want something to be deleted, use the speedy deletion page; that's why Criterion 7 was made. |
| User Talk Pages |
|
Every user has a talk page, found by clicking the "discussion" link at the top of his or her user page, or by going directly to it (yours would be User talk:MK). If you have a question for someone, or want to say something to him or her, his or her user talk page is the place. However, many users on the wiki have established specific guidelines for how their user talk pages are to be treated — where new comments should go, how they should be written, what is or is not okay to talk about, etc. Be sure to look for guidelines on the talk page before you leave a comment. If you don't see any guidelines specified, the assumption is that you should place your comment at the bottom of the talk page, under a level 2 heading. This can be accomplished by clicking the "+" link next to the "edit" tab at the top of the talk page, or by manually typing in your message in this format: ==Message title==
Your message goes here When replying to a comment already laid on the page, remember to indent it correctly: do it by inserting as many colons plus one to the message you're replying to at the begining of your message, like this: ==Message title==
Your message :User's reply ::Your reply |
| The Suggestions Page |

We know that as a new user, you want to share your ideas with us. But a community as big as ours has already seen all kind of suggestions, and it's possible that we've already seen something very similar to the ideas you have. Follow these simple guidelines to make sure that your suggestion gets the respect that it deserves:

If there's anything not covered by this introduction, you still have plenty of avenues to find some extra help. Project Welcome and Project Mentor are perfect starting points, but if you have something more pressing at hand, don't be afraid to get in touch with the administration staff. |
Remember: These guidelines may look difficult to learn and follow, but they're mainly just common sense! Think about what you're going to say or do before you do it! If you don't make an effort to do so, then why would others have the obligation to be nice to you? Feel free to ask any Project Welcome member if you need help, that's our purpose anyways!
If you want to delete this text, just delete the {{Welcomenewbie}} line from your talk page. Remember that you can always have access to these tips on the Project Welcome/Welcomenewbie page.
I would also like to encourage you to use the "preview button" at the bottom and use it to make a bunch of changes at once instead of many smaller ones. It spams up Special:Recentchanges otherwise.--Gage 17:29, 12 October 2006 (BST)

Image restrictions
The current rules:
An advert may contain images and any text formating you wish. Images are limited in size to a total of 76,000 pixels, which allows them to be 275 pixels square or a similar total area. Multiple images that total under this size are allowed. Please make sure your formating (including these images) does not "break the page" for those with smaller screen resolutions. If your advert can not be formated by a readers browser to be less than 600 or so pixels wide, it will affect the formatting of other adverts by forcing a window scroll in most browsers, which "breaks the page" by forcing portions of it off-screen. Similarly, an advert designed so that it will be longer than one full browser screen (assuming "normal" browser and screen settings for a low end laptop) may be considered to "break the page".
That means that, for example, you will be able to have a banner. So you could do a banner that is 600px x 125px (75000px). Is that what you were wondering about when it comes to the rules being more flexible? - Whitehouse 20:08, 14 October 2007 (BST)
Council of Leaders
The CoL is holding a nominations for the upcoming election. You are welcome to sign up if you'd like. Back in the day DK13 used to be part of the Alliance of Giddings. Here is the page for the election if you're interested. --Sonny Corleone RRF CoL DORIS Hunt! 19:22, 6 July 2007 (BST)
Recruitment system
Hey MK. Looks like we are about to have a new system on the recruitment page. Read about it here. I think you will be allowed to have a banner too. Just thought I would give you a heads up. - Whitehouse 12:59, 13 August 2007 (BST)
Kristi and the DK13
howdy I got your message and tried to register again and right as I finish registering it gives me this: "Sorry, you have been banned from this forum." I figured it was some sort of general IP ban or something but alas I cannont get access even under my alt's name.--Kristi of the Dead 14:29, 8 September 2007 (BST)
Recruitment
My mistake, I didn't see the second timestamp. May I suggest that you remove one of them to allow for less confusion. - Whitehouse 12:24, 9 September 2007 (BST)
Go here, and simply edit the page to remove it. Did it for you, so it shouldn't be a problem. But it's useful to know, since you might want to edit the actual ad once in a while. Or add a new way to put up timestamps. - Whitehouse 21:24, 14 September 2007 (BST)
Warning
Please do not blank other groups pages . Continuing this behavior may lead to your editing privileges being revoked.- Vantar 21:02, 9 December 2007 (UTC)You got the warning because you are not allowed to blank other groups pages. It doesn't matter if the content is about your group or not. As for your claim of the artwork, by uploading the image to the wiki you are say that is usable by all, if this is not the case then I suggest you put the images in question up for deletion via a Crit 7 speedy delete - Vantar 09:56, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
Great idea! But i don't have the time to figure out how to do that! I guess i will just ignore the whole sorry episode and let kids be kids ;) --MK 15:33, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Please do not vote on suggestions that have already been closed. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 17:30, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
Penny Heights EPs
Hey, how's it going? I noticed your group, SEQA, has marked Club Frossard as an entry point. The Penny Heights Optimal Defense Plan doesn't back this up so I just wanted to talk it over with you guys. If you want to make a change to the plan maybe you could state your intentions on the Penny Heights talk page and maybe it'll spark a discussion on a revamp of the entire barricade plan (which the BBK is all for).
There's a few building around the burb over which the barricade policy remains unclear, so I'm just trying to sort out the plan once and for all.
I've posted this on User:Axe27's talk page as well, just so you know. wb.--Nallan (Talk) 07:49, 1 May 2008 (BST)
