Mini Suburb Map

Hello, Thanks for the help in my case vs poodle and michaleson. I'm sorry I doubted your neutrality, I think you solved this case well. --Cornholioo 17:27, 20 April 2010 (BST)

Hello, thank you for the welcome to the game. I need some advice. I donated $15 to the game, and didn't notice the box saying "Nominate three characters", so when I didn't see the benefits I went and donated $15 again, this time I noticed the box and put my three char names in. Was wondering if there is a way to add my friends name to the first donation I made in any way, as i have gotten him into the game, too. Thanks. --Axemaniac johnson 17:46, 23 July 2010 (BST)

Your best bet is to email Kevan (User:Kevan should have his details), as he's the game's owner and the man in charge of it all. He's helpful enough when it comes to these things, so if you just explain what happened he should be able to help you out with it. We're coming to get you, Barbara 21:42, 23 July 2010 (BST)
Which is pretty much word for word what Ive already told you to do on your own talk page. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 17:44, 24 July 2010 (BST)
Tried that and it says he has not specified an e-mail address to be contacted from. Annoying, as I keep hitting my 160 visits limit, and am hoping for that double extension to kick in soon. Donated 2 days ago, so hopefully soon. Thanks anyway --Axemaniac johnson 23:59, 24 July 2010 (BST)
His e-mail address is listed here. Also, it generally takes him more than two days, in my experience with donating for my characters. Four days is more typical, though I did have one time where I waited two weeks, e-mailed him, and found out that he had misplaced my donation information. He was very gracious about it however, and offered to make it up by letting me name an additional character as well. Aichon 00:11, 25 July 2010 (BST)

Hi, sorry to post this here, but I would love some advice on how to pretty pretty my page up. I have tried importing a few .jpegs, but they always just appear as links, not the actual picture itself. I have tried following the guideline, but am getting nowhere. Any advice greatly appreciated. --Axemaniac johnson 17:15, 27 July 2010 (BST)

You have to upload the images to the wiki first. You can do so via the "Upload file" link on the left hand side of the page, under "toolbox".--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 17:18, 27 July 2010 (BST)

The Dead Walker

Yeah, as you can see I've grouped the suspiciously close UD IDs. This is pretty blatant. I'm gonna ask the MCM if they have any more profiles – I know they got hit in Eastonwood a couple weeks ago. - DevOhm 18:11, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

No, but I think I might start taking some shots. Luckily they're all grouped in Ackland Mall right now, so it's easy to keep track of them. I'll add them to my contacts list. Shame that Kevan doesn't care for abuse reports. I guess I could report them to the Resens liste, but player-based anti-zerg measures are sorta redundant against zombies. - DevOhm 18:14, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

The Spanish Inquisition. (Okay, the Floridian Inquisition, but whatever)

Ross, I've got an overwhelming multitude of questions for you... guess I'll just get to it.

But before I do, a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and thanks for the autograph. I'm almost sorry you died, especially since I thought killing you was my group's job, and the feral who whacked you never got the recognition I'd intended for your vanquisher.

So on to the list:

1. Are you still working on your city concept? It seems to be stalling a bit, and dependent upon contributions.

2. We're pretty much just making a wiki map, right? Is there some other format that would be more helpful to Kevan if he wanted to implement this, or would he be forced to read every square's details and code them individually?

3. Have you actually talked to Kevan about this? Is he supportive of it?

4. You realize the map you've created so far is about 80% open space (I'm estimating), right? I've worked out a few details based on Borehamwood.... there it's about 50% open space as far as I can tell... I'm hoping to emulate it for overall building content. I have some specific numbers based on Duke Garland's map, but I'm not emulating those, just a few overall details.

5. Am I taking this way too seriously?

6. What about billboards, inside and outside messages, newspapers, phone masts, and anything else that I may have forgotten? Are we just leaving those to Kevan, or adding them in as we go along?

7. Should I have asked question 5 after question 6?

8. Seriously, and completely off-topic, what do you think of the massive zerging, use of traitor zombies, password sharing and forum spying the survivors in Borehamwood have been engaging in? There's been some speculation about your position on the matter. Do you even care? Consider them legit tactics? Abhor and revile such behavior? Ignore it all and go microwave a burrito anytime anyone asks you about it (Are you even lucky enough to have burritos in Britain? Am I right in assuming you're in Britain?)? Will you even answer such questions now that you're officially dead? Are you still playing as Day 1? As a zombie or traitor zombie?

Sorry for the inquisition, but I've been meaning to ask you some stuff and it just sort of built up for a long time.... I finally got around to it. I hope you don't take any of it the wrong way, I probably could have seemed less obnoxious if I'd asked each question as they came up. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Necrofeelinya (talkcontribs) at 19:26, 7 January 2010.

Torquemada Responds about the Burritos

Okay, this is why I should have mentioned things sooner. I now have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

First, who's Amy? Unless she's a hard drinking Michigan girl who works for a crazy-assed Scientologist dentist, I don't think I know her.

Second, if you don't like burritos, you must be some sort of weird perverted psychopath. Or British, because burritos aren't particularly conducive to the climate. But that's your only excuse. Except that maybe you aren't using enough hot sauce, or the wrong kinds of hot sauce.

Third, if all your alts are lying down, I figure that means you're done with BH. Sad, but thanks for the (not unexpected) straight answer.

Fourth, yes, you did a quite a bit for the zombies of BH, and I didn't accuse you of sharing passwords, zerging, etc. yourself. But you must know it's gone on, and I've been told by survivors that it's their practice. I'm just wondering about your position on it. I've never really explored the general attitudes toward the unwritten rules, and now I've been given some opinions, it seems many accepted rules have been flagrantly broken, if they're really commonly adhered to at all. Did you see that feeb Nemesis MK2's taunt about forum spying on us? It happened immediately after your demise.

Fifth, feeding us random 'caded locations? Not bad form at all. I actually appreciated it, though you can tell from the fact that I never invited you to join our group that I didn't trust you. Like I said, I was wondering if you were still active in BH, because I thought we could use more zombies. Sad you're done.

Sixth, I appreciate the offer, but no thank you on the Monroeville alts. I have probably a good 30-50 I've mostly forgotten the passwords for myself... I just kept creating new ones as they died.

Seventh, I'm glad to hear you're still working on Unimplementia.

Eighth, I guess that means you haven't mentioned it to Kevan yet. Well, I kind of expected that. I'll keep working on my project for now anyway. Although I'm getting way too involved in it, making it take much longer than it should. I'm occasionally assigning historically meaningful names to territories so people can Google them and find weird things out. Not so many yet, but if I keep up, eventually all the buildings and monuments in the city. There's a lot to choose from.

And yes, if you want you can "steal" Gulfpratt. I've already designed what I think is a better one though. I keep the details on my PC instead of the wiki. I only preview them on the wiki so I know they look right. I've actually gotten a little bit done, though not in 10x10 sections one at a time. I really think it'd be better if it were sprung on people without their knowing the map beforehand as usual. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Necrofeelinya (talkcontribs) at 20:34, 7 January 2010.

  • Not to interfere in what youre inventing here, but just wanted you to know that both Monroeville and Borehamwood were created because of advertising campaigns for "Diary of the Dead" and "Dead Set" accordingly. In other words, Kevan got paid for creating them. --~~~~ [talk] 09:40, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Yep. But its for fun really, but you never know. On the list of "Reasons not to make a new city" Having to design the fucker might well be one of them. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 10:57, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Zombie Pandemic again

Hey, have you noticed any locations that have ammo as free items? I've found one for .45 caliber bullets at 42,6; but no others... kind of weird, it was an otherwise uninteresting unmarked block and I don't know if it was finite (though I picked up a hundred of the buggers and it's still there). I'd really like to get my hands on a 5.56 cache :P --Bob Boberton TF / DW Littlemudkipsig.gif 03:46, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Good Day

I've been pointed in this direction by the good Mr. Misanthropy for some coding help. My wikifu is very rusty, but I'm sure I've never seen a code for a scroll box on this wiki.

Does such a code exist?
Thank you for your time,

Vanitas Mori 20:38, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
It looks like you want to steal some code from Linkthewindow (who in turn stole it from someone else, haha). Mainly, it looks like you want a div section with a given size (height/width) and then "overflow:scroll" added in. Code Thieves forever! --Bob Boberton TF / DW Littlemudkipsig.gif 20:56, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

<div style="height: 100px; width:300px; border: thin solid black; overflow:scroll; background: #FFFFFF; padding: 0px; text-align: left;"> </div>

Case Information

I'll have another read of the case to see if there's anything which could do with removing, but for now, and with the arbitration case rolling, I think it should remain in place as is. Thanks mate. --Papa Moloch 03:17, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

I think that the decision should be entirely yours, mate. If someone wants to take it as a step-by-step guide in how to avoid accusation then they will have to wade through a lot of information in order to do so, but at the same time it's also an excellent guide for people who want to know how to spot zergs, so the article is of service either way. The main objective (getting the information out there and the Blackhawk Nation/Zerger listed as a cheat) has been accomplished and he won't get off the list without satisfying me that he has separated his alts and will keep them thus, so if you want to be rid of it then go ahead, but if you want to keep it all then also feel free to do so. Nice work on the case: It's arguably of the best I have ever seen. --Papa Moloch 21:34, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
That's definitely enough evidence against the account in question. If you copy and paste it to the ZL reporting thread I'll add the character in the next update. Nice spot. --Papa Moloch 00:42, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Am I missing something?

Is there some random reason you can think of as to why SA reverted the posting of the case I made on Arbies? [[2]]

I don't see anything on the page at a glance that says that only a SysOp can do it, so a little confused why it happened at all. --Maverick Talk - OBR Praise Knowledge! 404 18:30, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Re: Praise Whatever

Matter of fact, I didn't know the AoM had a conflict with BHN. The only PK group I recall beating down the BHN was the Flowers of Disease, and no zerging was seen in that conflict. About 3 years ago or so, the Angels hit Santlerville - hard - and gained the hatred of someone who created a about half a dozen or more zerg alts. Sonysucksisanasshat, BlurredBrain2isatard, etc. They're still active from time to time, and were generally attributed to Finis Valorum/Max Veers, the zerger who griefed Santlerville before getting steamrolled by just about every faction in the game. When I saw the AngelsofMercy Zerger, it immediately pinged the memory of the zerg in Santlerville...but on second glance, it looks like this BHN zerg was made 2 years after the original batch. Not sure if they're related...but seeing as I never heard of the AoM fighting the BHN (or even being active around the same time as the BHN existed), I figured they were one and the same. --DTPraise KnowledgePK 23:21, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

I see it as you having drawn logical conclusions from evidence you've spent time compiling, and him flinging kneejerk accusations to draw the heat from him. As such, the onus is on him to back it up with evidence like you have, otherwise you're 110% in the clear. Re: Fonts

I don't think the font thing is down to the wiki, so much as the viewer - if you've got the font in question installed, you'll see it. If not, the wiki won't display it for you, but it can for those who do. I can see things like my sig or the RDD pages fine, but to others they seem to display differently. New City Question

Hey, Ross. Alright, so after spending a day coding and prepping one side of a town I've been working on, I found out I must have coded it wrong as when I went to preview it, instead of the table of buildings and such, I got a mess of text that was my coding.

How do you want the submissions to be formatted?

Also, do you have any objections to a town consisting of West, East, South, and then a mountain connecting to it? --TheBardofAwesome 05:05, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

No objections to any of it. If you post the raw text, i can work out whats wrong with the formatting!--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 09:30, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Alright, here's the block of it.
Alright dude, no rush. Thanks for the help. Also, I know that this isn't generally your thing, but if you or anyone you know are anywhere near Osmondville/Penny Heights, would you mind going to the cemetery by St. Aloysius's Church and reviving me? I've been waiting for my guy to be revived and instead people use me for target practice, heal me, and then whack at me some more.

I mean, it's amusing to see people abusing my guy like this, but because I have a strict no attacking survivors policy as a zombie, it's a pain in the ass to not being able to defend yourself.

Anyway, thanks for the help and I look forward to the revision.--TheBardofAwesome 02:44, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Spectacular job Ross, although I think a couple of the blocks got misplaced. I hope you won't take it personally if I adjust them. Other than that, thanks for the help and I will work on getting the next parts to you. --TheBardofAwesome 01:40, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Alright and that's for sure. I should have just looked at the coding for the other areas before I started mine. But whatever, live and learn. --TheBardofAwesome 12:41, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello again Ross. I was looking at the new city and saw an empty template that had the topmost row with info including Mount Clark, woodland, and Clark Road (South). Is this the section of town that I posted above?--TheBardofAwesome 13:56, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
it is. Will finish it tomorrow. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 15:23, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Alright Ross, I think I am done with East Jackson for now and you may publish it on your page. Chances are, I will make revisions so if I need to, I hope you won't mind. Other than that, I'll get to work on the other parts as I have redone the town and eliminated the mountain so there will be at least two more sections. Hopefully, they will link up to nearby suburbs. --TheBardofAwesome 02:25, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
Sorry about the info deletions. I just didn't think they were relevant now. --TheBardofAwesome 02:26, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Thats how I find them. As for future pages, Leave them as they are. Its kind of why you cant just blitz them likewise. Any suggestion pages that don't exist need to be left, as they are part of an ongoing project of Boxy's. Likewide RDD's we can leave for now. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 16:21, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Are userspace links fair game, though? Since they're at the users discretion, surely editting them is some kind of breach of policy? Dunno, it IS just housekeeping, but it seems like a grey area to me.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 16:23, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
Personally, I feel its a definite good faith edit, designed to remove unwanted empty links from the wiki. When was the last time you saw someone taken to VB for a spelling correction? And If we're only focussing on the pages with one link for now, the majority of them will only be linked to deletions anyway. You just remove the brackets and theirs still a record of the page name, just not linkified. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 16:26, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Rotter's Relief Suburb Wiki Page

Hello there, it's been a while.

I'm here to ask for a little favour, if you may.

RR has opened a new clinic over at Ruddlebank,in the Panes Building. I wonder if you could help me with the tweaks and what-nots?

Thanks a lot and sorry for imposing on you.

Sorry for not replying earlier. I didn't realise that you made a note on my discussion page (I'm really terrible with wikis and such-likes...)
Um, I believe that Panes Building (Ruddlebank) needs to be noted as a Rot Revive clinic, and most of the stuff you noted on my discussion page (Suburb Group and Revive Point update...)
Thanks a lot for the help! --Natakaasd 15:07, 13 April 2010 (BST)

I'm on the way to reverting some of these pages back into the glossary category, since they quite obviously should be there, for example, KOS and the like. Why remove? --

02:04, 2 April 2010 (BST)

UDWiki:Projects/Glossary Project, specifically, pages like KOS are going to get folded into larger clearer pages, in this case specifically, Amusing_Locations_in_Malton/Urban_Dead_Colloquialisms with a redirect and cross referenced on the pages for PK'er and the RG. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 09:53, 2 April 2010 (BST)
So you're gonna make KOS redirect to the alim page? I'm not sure if that's what you meant, but it isn't the way to go if you ask me, it's the easy and nonsensical way out. The right thing would be to re-cateegorise KOS in Glossary (since it IS a glossaric term) and expand on the page, something I'm more than happy to do. I just think it's a lot better that way. -- 12:33, 2 April 2010 (BST)

The developing Ghost Town Reclamation guide

Just wanted to let you know that I recently referenced your developing article in an MCM lecture on Ghost Town Reclamation. Hope that motivates you to polish it finally, as it's really a promising guide, and one that massively helped me to lay out my own lecture. --Spiderzed 17:42, 20 April 2010 (BST)

It would take me wonder if you'd agree with everything, given alone that my stuff has been rather PoV of a dual nature loner (who has to care about not dying, who has no back-up and who has to work in small steps), than PoV of an organized pro-survivor group :-)
And even then, there are enough points that can be heavily argued (such as whether to prioritize reviving or securing initial safehouses), as well as points that can be bent when cleverly used (such as actively working with Scent Trail to lure zombies out of ruins). But there's only so much complex thought one can drag into a straightforward, unformatted in-game lecture before it becomes too unwieldy.
What really surprises me is that it has come so quickly to your attention, given that it's less than 24 hours old, that the link has publicly only popped up in the middle of a wall of text on a group's subpage, and that the reference had to be masked with a URL.
As far as lectures go, while I'm not an actual member, I think that MCM would be happy with everything regardless of topic or length, as long as it's educative. I'll gladly hook you up anytime whenever you want to. --Spiderzed 20:59, 20 April 2010 (BST)

I'm gonna try and contact all of the sysops and former sysops who are still active around here and have been involved with his data or might have an interest in it. Even if I miss a few, I figure enough people check all of your pages that most people who need to see the link will see it. ;) Aichon 01:30, 21 April 2010 (BST)

I must admit that I'm more pro iscariot than most, as you've probably picked up, and had mostly nothing to do with the Nubis stuff. If you want me to check facts then yeah, but I don't think theres ever going to be consensus on this. Either we arbitrarily rule his vandal data accurate, (when it is flawed) or we let him get on with disputing it. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 15:20, 22 April 2010 (BST)
Fact checking would be welcome. That said, I do think we can reach a consensus on the facts that I've presented. Whether or not we can reach a consensus on what should be done is something that I too doubt we can do, but at the very least we can identify where things went wrong, how things should have been, and possible fixes for the solution. I've presented a copy of what his vandal data should have looked like, as well as a proposal for how we should "fix" it based on the mistakes that were made. At the very least, I know I would love to have your feedback on that part. Aichon 00:09, 23 April 2010 (BST)

Labour are definitely my first choice. I'd say Green as a second, but they don't have that many non-environment policies, and the ones they've recently put in annoy me. Lib Dems are good too, and I'm ideally looking for a Lib-Labour Coalition as the result. I like UKIPs nuclear policy, but since it's hinged on leaving the EU, I automatically hate it. Not BNP, but definitely not conservative. So yeah, Labour or Lib Dem I say.--User:Yonnua Koponen/signature2 22:52, 3 May 2010 (BST)

Red exclamation marks?

Also, I keep worrying that I'm accidentally going to click the block button instead of contribs. :P --Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 23:02, 7 May 2010 (BST)

Go ahead and click block if you want. In fact, do it and take a look at the page that shows up once you click it. Might as well familiarize yourself with it now. Don't worry, clicking the block button by itself doesn't do anything, since you still have to give a length of the ban and a reason before it goes through. Aichon 23:05, 7 May 2010 (BST)
Oh, and ignore the exclamation marks. Basically, one shows up whenever a non-sysop makes an edit. If you "Mark as patrolled" for an edit, the exclamation mark goes away, but none of us really seem to use it at all, so you may as well just ignore it. Theoretically, what would happen is that the sysops would mark all valid edits as patrolled, and leave the exclamation marks on the ones that are questionable or invalid somehow, that way we can find them again later. In practice, we don't bother. Aichon 23:07, 7 May 2010 (BST)
It's there to allow for the use of an autoconfirmed usergroup, which we don't have (and there's been policies rejected suggesting it before). Overall, just ignore them. We're coming to get you, Barbara 00:09, 8 May 2010 (BST)

Any idea what's going on here? As in, all the sysops' showing much higher up on the list than they should. Some of the pages I'm listed as having linked to me are completely unrelated. I even appear in Ron Burgundy's talk archive, which was made before I joined the wiki.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:04, 8 May 2010 (BST)

Hagnat's Misconduct Archive

I was just reading through Hagnat's old misconduct archive, and I came across this edit by Nubis, which marked the January 31st case as Misconduct. However, the edit was made on the 4th, before several rulings came in, and before the eventual closing of the case as not misconduct on the 13th. I'm assuming it would be fair to change the text to a not misconduct, considering that was the ruling at the time, unless I'm wrong.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:51, 19 May 2010 (BST)

...about checkuser. Now, I'm meant to only use it on vandals. I can however use it on myself. However, this page implies it may be used for discovering the true identity of Maps. Indeed, it would appear that two sysops in the past have indeed used checkuser to discover the identity of Maps. It's true, theoretically we are only supposed to use checkuser to find vandals, but some sysops have "abused" that right before, but it's all a matter of perspective. J3D got in shit for IPing Boxy, whilst Hagnat apparently once IP'd the whole sysop team just so their IPs could stay on the log (seriously, don't ask why, this is hagnat we are talking about) which funnily enough was a HUGE help in the Nubis/DCC drama. SA was a pretty bad "abuser", depending on your term of abuser. I remember when he was having his huge fued with Iscariot early 09 he checkd him just to confirm he lived in Britain like he said. he wanted me to put him up for vandalism for something just so SA could have the excuse to check him and then when I didn't, he just did it anyway. -- 02:25, 4 June 2010 (BST)
