Things

Please do not place articles about yourself or your characters in the main namespace. If you wish to write about yourself or your characters, the correct place to do it is in your User space (ie User:Waughn). The pages you have created have since been moved to their correct places. --Hubrid Nox Sys WTF U! B! 12:58, 1 April 2007 (BST)

FUCK OFF

I tried to be nice. I tried to be civil. No more. DO NOT FUCK WITH THE PAGE AGAIN. IT HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE RIGHT FUCKING PLACE. THE REDIRECT WILL BE DELETED. DO NOT MAKE ME SAY THIS SHIT AGAIN. --Hubrid Nox Sys WTF U! B! 13:02, 1 April 2007 (BST)

No.

You don't fool me. Making an alt is a no-no. LEAVE THE GODDAMN PAGE ALONE. --Hubrid Nox Sys WTF U! B! 13:06, 1 April 2007 (BST)

Multiple wiki log-in

Officially it's not forbidden to have two accounts but we do frown upon it. A couple of persons have two legal accounts, most of them in the vain of DangerReport or for other technical purposes. But for various reason, most involving vandal banning and voting, we heavily discourage it. You have to let us known which account is a double for you, we'll note it on your vandal data. You won't have extra anonymity at all. The wiki just is not a place for in-character role playing by editors.

We have to be extremely careful with multiple accounts because multiple account are so easily exploitable. We are quite strict in Vandal banning with multiple accounts. any misuse will almost certainly result in the permaban of the alternate account and at a minimum warning for the main account. You do run a significantly higher risk with two accounts. You don't get the benefit of the doubt when you're editing with an alternative account. If a edit looks vandalism, you'll get that banning/warning even if their are exonerating circumstances. If you vote with your alternative account you'll get that banning/warning, If you use the different accounts in a discussion you will... etc, etc.

Far better is it to simply change your signature in your preferences. Just check the Raw signatures box and enter your new name like this [[user:Waughn|other character name]] that way you'll avoid a lot of potential trouble, and everybody will understand what&how precisely. It may not be perfect, but it's serviceable and a lot less trouble for everybody involved.-- Vista's Alta

thank you for fast answer, Vista. as you can see on this page (and a search for waughn on the vandal banning page will tell you more), i already had problem with bad editing. the reason is simple: i was a damn newby to the wiki. notice that as time goes by, i did not break any editing rule cause i read all i could about editing. what i mean by that is i do not have any bad intensions and i clearly want to respect wiki rules.
as i said before, id like to have an alt account to create a new group page, wich an alt in game character leads. this alt is DrHerbertWest id=813908 (i did not request wiki account for him yet) and the group is The Reanimator Clan. being a Dr West in UD is something funny, there are clones of West in Malton. this character decided to find all his clone brothers to gather them into a clan. that is why wiki is a good place for such a quest, so many poeple browsing those pages..
to avoid problems of any nature, i use two different web browsers to play my characters (fir**x and iEp***er). i do the same for forums. i will do the same for wiki. this way i am sure alt will not edit main account pages by mistake.
one more thing to assure you i will do my best: i will NOT vote with West. -- Waughn 11:02, 19 May 2007 (BST)
The browser with which you edit isn't important. Nor does it matter wich pages you edit with wich account. The problem of having two accounts is that account is considered the person, not a character. With two accounts the automatic assumption is that there are two distinct editors. This wiki is not for in-character role playing. It is for people to give information about the game and the different groups they lead/are part of. You see the characters DrHerbertWest or Waughn doesn't lead anything. You, the person behind DrHerbertWest & Waughn, do. You are represented in game by those characters. This isn't the game. The accounts users make here do not represent their characters, the accounts represent the user. Making a new account is not like making an alt, it's like making a complete new editor, a new persona.
The question is simply why would you need two accounts? Why would you need to let people think you are two different people? You can do what you want to achieve with a simple change in signature. If you do not have any bad intentions that is very good, But there is a difference between respecting and following wiki rules. And unfortunately this is just following the rules. You're allowed to do that, and I cannot stop you, but it doesn't mean you should.
But the whole question is; Why wouldn't a signature change be enough?--Vista +1 14:57, 19 May 2007 (BST)
all right, i get it now. thanks for clarification. i won't create another user then and will follow your advices. i also now understand the potential trubbles you sysops would have to take care of, even if i do not cross the streams ;)
the objective was almost practical (for me i admit) but for sure i will host West under Waughn's page. thank you one more for your time and kindness. regards. -- Waughn 15:42, 19 May 2007 (BST)
I think I might have sounded a bit harsh, I'm a bit tired and I sound worse then than I normally do. Sorry if that was the case and thanks for making our jobs easier.--Vista +1 16:23, 19 May 2007 (BST)
thats ok for me, no problem. i appreciate your comment. i am currently making West's page then The Reanimator Clan's. feel free to slap me if i do something wrong. -- Waughn 16:28, 19 May 2007 (BST)
