[edit] Welcome to our wiki
Hi Yak-38M! As we can see, you made your first edits to this wiki not long ago. It's OK to be new, and we encourage new blood to join and enrich our community. At the same time, we understand that no one is a perfect wiki editor straight off the bat, and, just in case you get stuck, here're some useful tips to help you out. Please take the time to read them.
| General Editing |
Further help for editing the wiki can be found on the Help page. |
| Project Mentor |
|
Project Mentor has been set up to allow new wiki users to have a more experienced wiki veteran mentor them for the first few weeks. Visit its page for more information! |
| Your User Page |
|
One of the great things about the wiki is that every user can have his or her own user page! These pages are located in the User: namespace — in other words, they all begin with "User:" (yours is User:Yak-38M). The appropriate place to write about yourself or your characters is on your user page, or a subpage of that page (e.g., User:Yak-38M/Your Character's Name). Please don't create pages about yourself outside the User: namespace. Those pages will be moved into subpages of your user page, and the original speedily deleted. If you want something to be deleted, use the speedy deletion page; that's why Criterion 7 was made. |
| User Talk Pages |
|
Every user has a talk page, found by clicking the "discussion" link at the top of his or her user page, or by going directly to it (yours would be User talk:Yak-38M). If you have a question for someone, or want to say something to him or her, his or her user talk page is the place. However, many users on the wiki have established specific guidelines for how their user talk pages are to be treated — where new comments should go, how they should be written, what is or is not okay to talk about, etc. Be sure to look for guidelines on the talk page before you leave a comment. If you don't see any guidelines specified, the assumption is that you should place your comment at the bottom of the talk page, under a level 2 heading. This can be accomplished by clicking the "+" link next to the "edit" tab at the top of the talk page, or by manually typing in your message in this format: ==Message title==
Your message goes here When replying to a comment already laid on the page, remember to indent it correctly: do it by inserting as many colons plus one to the message you're replying to at the begining of your message, like this: ==Message title==
Your message :User's reply ::Your reply |
| The Suggestions Page |
|
We know that as a new user, you want to share your ideas with us. But a community as big as ours has already seen all kind of suggestions, and it's possible that we've already seen something very similar to the ideas you have. Follow these simple guidelines to make sure that your suggestion gets the respect that it deserves:
|
Remember: These guidelines may look difficult to learn and follow, but they're mainly just common sense! Think about what you're going to say or do before you do it! If you don't make an effort to do so, then why would others have the obligation to be nice to you? Feel free to ask any Project Welcome member if you need help, that's our purpose anyways!
If you want to delete this text, just delete the {{Welcomenewbie}} line from your talk page. Remember that you can always have access to these tips on the Project Welcome/Welcomenewbie page.

[edit] Recruitment page
Hello there. Your ad for the the Communist party of Malton was deactivated because it does not follow the format of the wiki recruitment page. Read the rules on how to do it on the recruitment page, have any problems you can ask me, or post on the recruitment talk page. - Whitehouse 18:32, 24 August 2007 (BST)
- Congrats, your ad looks good. Almost completely same coding as the BMC one (which I made). Good job. - Whitehouse 14:30, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Thanks, I saw the BMC one and thought it looked great, so I based it off the BMC one, hope you don't mind. Yak-38M 01:05, 26 August 2007 (GMT)
- Not at all. I am actually somewhat jealous, good colours. - Whitehouse 13:16, 26 August 2007 (BST)
[edit] Your group page
Hello again. Just thought I would give you some help. I have no problem with you using the same style as the BMC on your group page, I am just suggesting that you change a small part (which you probably didn't notice when constructing your page), where it says "made by Andre" in white (I am Andre). It was a part of the code needed for the page to look good in both firefox and internet explorer. That piece of text keeps the borders in order, on the BMC page the text was white, simply hiding it from view (so you should make it red, same red as background). I suggest you change it to "Made by Yak-38M" (not link form, just text). The actual text doesn't really matter, as long as it is there and hidden using colours the page will look good. - Whitehouse 20:30, 2 September 2007 (BST)
- Forget it, did it for you. And fixed up the links from the content bar to match the headers. Sorry if you feel I am interfering. - Whitehouse 20:36, 2 September 2007 (BST)
- Thanks, I have no problem with that. I'm glad for the help Yak-38M 16:17 3 September 2007 (GMT)
[edit] Subpages
Please stop creating pages for your group in the main namespace. Any pages specific to your group should be called Communist Party of Malton/Title, where Title is what you want to call the page. --PdeqTalk* 02:32, 6 May 2008 (BST)
- Oh sorry, I didn't even realize. It won't happen again I'm still pretty new to using the wiki, thanks for the tip. --Yak-38M 04:12, 6 May 2008 (GMT)
[edit] Deleting pages
If you want to delete a page you made, make a request at A/SD. Don't just wipe the content from the page. It looks like you want to delete a few pages under "criterion 7", so go ahead and make those requests. Let me know if you have any questions. --PdeqTalk* 08:34, 10 May 2008 (BST)
- Ok, I've queued them for deletion and thanks for all the help I'll be sure to ask you if I need anymore help. --Yak-38M 08:20, 10 May 2008 (GMT)
[edit] Group Page Styles
I saw how your group, The communist Party of Malton, has a cool page, I tried making something similar to it using multiple box templates but whenever I put a template in a template, it messes up the text and replaces it with something like this "{{{6}}}" or "{{{2}}}" I was wondering If you new a way around this.
Thank You,
--DontResist 01:48, 26 August 2008 (BST)
- Thank you, I used a temple created by Whitehouse I don't know too much about this stuff. I'd suggest you ask him, he has been very helpful to me and I believe you'd return you the favour. I hope that helps you. --Yak-38M 02:53, 30 August 2008 (GMT)
Ok, thank you!
