Your talk page used to break sigsI believe that It doesn't any more. Turns out that the problem was indeed with your page and not with the signatures, since absolute positioning works fine so long as its parent is either the window or a non-static positioned element. Your scrollbox was statically positioned before, but by giving it position: relative, it lays out the same way, but allows those sigs to work as they do everywhere else on the wiki. I checked in FF and WebKit, and they work fine, and I see no reason why it wouldn't work in IE as well, though you might want to check. ;) —Aichon— 18:51, 16 October 2010 (BST)

Stub WorkI noticed a while back that we were trying to reduce the number of location stubs. I was wondering if we could do a more organized version of that. Regarding User:Dr Albert SchwanI was only just recently made aware of the wiki user impersonating me. The same has happened in game as you have seen with similar results. I would not mind were it not for the name similarity which has actually caused people to mistake this user/character for me on several occasions. I believe this to have been the intent behind its creation by the Heathers, a group that bears me ill will due to my publication of their ethically questionable strategies. The artwork and methodology are the same they use in-game that lead to the creation of the Dr. Albert Schwan account and several other impersonations. I was wondering if you can tell me what edits the account made that you had to revert? Additionally, I would like to clarify that though this account was designed to impersonate me as the one in game has been doing since its creation, I do not have a problem with it existing as long as it treats itself as work of satire, links appropriately, specifies itself as a distinct and separate account, and does not perform actions in my name. As this is unlikely to happen, (I have never seen the Heathers take responsibility for one of their creations and assume this was put on the wiki solely for the purpose of making me have to complain about it to get it removed) I would like to know what steps are needed to treat it as work of impersonation and for me to take action if possible.

I have something to ask that only you and perhaps boxy can answer. Some members of LUE has been active again under the LUEshi's Rangers group, and today they took down Calvert Mall. Not only that, but they turned the mall complex into a piñata. However I got into a disagreement with a member of the group who has been claiming Calvert was the first mall to be turned to a piñata. In the piñata talk page, I read that Treweeke was the first mall to be put to a piñata. But in the Calvert Mall page, someone from LUEshi's Rangers is claiming Calvert was the first. Could you please weigh in with your opinion on what happened? Thanks. --Aeon17x 15:42, 21 August 2010 (BST)

- Not really much point asking him since it's so old he'd only find out by doing something you can do yourself: Look at "what links here". It's a generic sentence that was meant to be reproduced as a NB for search odd data collation, back when a group of people took it upon themselves to document the search odds of items in Malton. It's practically useless and could easily be deleted if someone just copied and pasted the text in the template over its calls on the Search Data pages instead of this template -- 04:24, 23 June 2010 (BST)

- I run a bunch of those type guys. Currently griefing RR. Enlist! General barhah and anti-zerg campaigns need you! or anyone... User:Misanthropy/sig2 23:28, 10 June 2010 (BST)
- RR doesn't zerg, and they even maintain DNR lists for zergs they've confirmed. Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 02:02, 13 June 2010 (BST)
- I laugh at you. One of their members operating in Millen Hills is zerg listed, we've spotted them reviving zergs, and when we asked them not to, they point-blank refused. User:Misanthropy/sig2 02:12, 13 June 2010 (BST)
- If they revive zergs, it's by accident. I have an alt in RR, and we keep a list of known zergs that we add to our contacts list and refuse to revive. You should be warned that a lot of people are adding tags and committing crimes to make us look bad; we get anti-group graffiti with a "from RR" tag on it all around Houldenbank, and I've been killed too many times by "RR" members.

- Have you gone to the RR forums and reported this? Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 02:49, 13 June 2010 (BST)
- Yes. I was told in no uncertain terms that RR policy is to give "unbiased" revives, regardless of zerging. When I and other pressed the issue, RR clammed up and refused to budge. If you're in RR, you can find a good deal of it in the Millen Hills Status Report thread (even if you aren't a member it's a public thread). Both RDD and With Blackjack And Hookers were involved in questioning. You might also note extensive the "I know you are, what am I" defense. User:Misanthropy/sig2 02:54, 13 June 2010 (BST)
- this? I see our leaders saying that we don't condone zerging and keep our own DNR lists for the matter, and that the person who is making the request is acting like a prick. RR fights zergers when they find them, and DNR list them when we have evidence, but they also hate rudeness. You could probably go on their forums and ask them not to revive suburb-wide known RRF death cultists in an asenine tone and get told off for it; now, they wouldn't go and revive the RRF cultists, but they'd sure give you an earful. Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 03:08, 13 June 2010 (BST)
- Odd, because I'm seeing senior members and your group's leader both deciding that it's better to go to war with PKer groups than to just not revive zergs, as well as moving discussion to private sections (a point suggested by a zerg), and being told to leave when links are provided to resenz. Also several posts defending zerg revives. You might note Skull Grin and Saint Gambi offering help at first before turning hostile after continued spin and refusal, which makes sense, given their involvement with the Zerg Liste. User:Misanthropy/sig2 03:33, 13 June 2010 (BST)
- You raise valid points. On one hand, I've seen tons of zergers get blacklisted by our group, and even been a part of the movement. On the other hand, the default open revive policy we extend does leave an opening for zergers to take advantage of our generosity. I still object to the notion that RR zergs or supports zerging, but I do acknowledge that we don't explicitly ban it unless it inconveniences us. Perhaps an accurate description would be that they are apathetic towards it? I personally hate zergs, but not being an RR leader, all I can do is offer the people fighting the zergs a free revive.

- RR's mission is to provide revives for everyone as much as possible. While I admit that we could be doing more to fight zerging, I really don't think it's accurate to say we actively support it. - Two screenshots of him and an alt, both dead, in buildings on opposite ends of a suburb, with no timestamp or data proving they've been taken at the same time, and no evidence of the alts interacting at all. It seems much more likely to me that the list entry comes from the pissing contest the two groups were having then concrete zerging proof.

- I don't know about your standards Mis, but that's not good enough proof for me. Heck, I've even had two alts within 8 blocks once or twice when I've been running long distances without checking the map too closely. Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 22:08, 13 June 2010 (BST)
- I trust the judgement of the Resenz team, especially The Huntsman, who informed me of the listing. I also find it suspect that when this was pointed out to Gaucho he simply responded by accusing everyone opposed to him of zerging, rather than even attempting to clear his name or sort out any possible mishap. If RR were in any way opposed to zerging they'd have at least got him to clear his listing, at the very least. User:Misanthropy/sig2 22:11, 13 June 2010 (BST)

I don't think they care; they have this big thing about being above politics. They don't care about PK lists or Zerg lists or DNR lists, they revive everyone who they don't already have precident to believe will prevent them from reviving others. What the fuck happened you obviously didn't vote enough times. User:Misanthropy/sig2 22:12, 7 May 2010 (BST)
- No matter what happens Brown can't remain PM in this state. He'll probably have to hand it over to Milliband or someone of his generation, and give Clegg quite a lot of ground - however, I can easily see Labour offering the Lib Dems a lot more of what they're after than the Tories will. Ultimately, it'll boil down to a) Lib Dems' actual voter numbers, as opposed to seats; and b) how much back-pedalling Cameron's willing to do to get a majority, which in all honesty, I doubt will be much. He'll be relying on the UUP, who didn't make as good a showing as I expected (I figured they'd gain all the ground the DUP lost, but they only lost one seat, not the two or three I expected, and they lost that to a centre-leftist). Basically, unless Labour give the Lib Dems the voting referendum they're after, you can look forward to a short government that achieves nothing, Brown and Cameron ousted before the next general election for a younger and an older face respectively, and a lot of reliance on back-bench MPs to swing things. Fun times. User:Misanthropy/sig2 22:20, 7 May 2010 (BST)
I'm not too fond of Labour myself but that's mainly thanks to Mr.Brown, of course the Conservatives on the other hand are Eurosceptic as can be which is a cardinal sin in itself. Still, Lab/Lib can't reach a majority if I got the results right, so how can they form a minority coaltion?--

- Oh, no, they can, just not an overall majority. By aligning their vote on things, they'll outnumber the Tories, and with the, what, 29 small-party seats to pick and choose individual allies from, they'd be grand if they did. Clegg is essentially kingmaker here, he's got his party in the best situation they've ever been in. User:Misanthropy/sig2 22:30, 7 May 2010 (BST)
- Right, I'll repeat it here as well. My assumption was a Lib-Lab with a SNP alliance, but now the DUP have just said they're open to working with labour, and that would also be an abstention.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:31, 7 May 2010 (BST)

- DUP siding with Labour? I have in fact seen it all. Also yes, the popular vote needs to count more. I don't see why the don't model it on the system used to vote for MLAs in Stormont here. User:Misanthropy/sig2 22:43, 7 May 2010 (BST)
- I reckon they'll probably side with the tories, but they said they're open to a deal with labour. On electoral reform, STV is probably the best, because it lets you rank your candidates, meaning that smaller parties like Green will get more support, but smaller parties like the BNP won't. The flaw with your standard PR is that it gives all small parties a larger vote.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:45, 7 May 2010 (BST)
- Why not direct and total democracy? Seats divided by total nation percentage. How many votes are lost by the current system. Thousands, you can pretty much rip your vote to pieces if you live in one of traditional blue or red colored districts. --
Thadeous Oakley
22:49, 7 May 2010 (BST)
- Pure proportional representation (what you're describing) has a tendancy to give radical marginal parties a larger percentage of the vote. In turn, politicians then pander to the radicals for extra support in hung parliaments (very frequent with PR), meaning that the radicals get much more support. It's the principal that gave Hitler control of Germany in the 30s. Similarly, this was overcome when West Germany was established by adding in a 5% cap - if a party had less than 5% of the vote, they recieved on seats. However, if we get in to that, we begin subverting democracy. Which is why I prefer Single transferrable vote.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:54, 7 May 2010 (BST)
- True true, but that's because you Brits are used to a 2 party system. PR would pretty much indeed guarantee hung parliaments, but PR and coalition governments are well established in continental Europe, but it would indeed be a too radical departure from the current system you have. --
Thadeous Oakley

- Yeah, partly because now that we've had this for so long, the marginal parties only have a few policies on certain areas, because they don't think they'll get in. If every party turned up with bursting manifestos by next week, pure PR would be more reasonable, but I definitely wouldn't agree with it without a STV system, or some form of hurdle.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! - And about right-wing radicals, maybe you have heard of Geert Wilders, it's true that they can gain allot of seats this way but experience tells us never enough and they usually lock themselves out of any real governmental influence with their extreme stands. Edit war
There's an edit war going on here: http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php?title=Second_Battle_of_Krinks&action=history Can I make a case about this? --Cornholioo 21:09, 18 April 2010 (BST)
- Given that the deletion discussion process will end in less than 7 days, and that it doesn't look favourable, I don't think that an arbie would end in time before the page vanishes anyway from mainspace. (I have been considering doing so myself, and the timing is my sole reason against having done so.) --Spiderzed 21:12, 18 April 2010 (BST)
- On that note, could you both stop editting it until the deletion request is over? Therefore getting rid of the need for arbitration? I think that would probably be the best solution. As SZ noted, I see no reason to have an arbitration case over a page which will either be gone or in your user space by the time an arbitrator is picked.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Whittenside Fort description overhaul
Hi, I just noticed that you do edits about the Whittenside area. I tried to get in touch with Schwan (who does most of the survivor-centric edits for the area), but haven't been lucky.
Either way, to cut down on the preliminary chit-chat, I've written up a new draft for the fort description on the Whittenside Suburb Main Page, as I'm neither happy with the old survivor-POV version, nor with the current zombie-POV description which I've myself written in a particularly nasty mood upon seeing the old description.
What are your thoughts on this as a local survivor player? Is the draft good and balanced as it is? --Spiderzed 20:17, 16 April 2010 (BST)

Arbitrator
Hello, I hope I'm allowed to post this here. I would like the page Battle of Krinks to have a neutral arbitrator. That means; someone who rewrites the article NPOV. The WWSIS has also agreed on this. I would like to ask if you're able and willing to do this. Thanks in advance, --Cornholioo 9:21, 25 March 2010.
- You know, you have an arbitration case up about this exact thing. You COULD just ignore all the trolling and rubbish and just do it that way... -- 09:43, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- Then again, that's probably just what you mean. Hoping so anyway. nvm. -- 09:46, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- No, I was pressing a case against someone in the Philosophe Knights for editing the Battle of Krinks page. Then someone else completely edited that page and that was alright. Right now someone in the Philsophe Knights is pretting a case against me about the same page, so why can't I ask Yonnua Koponen to write the article NPOV in the meantime? I have also asked for someone to do that, but that was deleted. Oh, and the case you're talking about isn't about who is going to write this article NPOV. It's about an edit someone doesn't agree with. --Cornholioo 10:59, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- It's all well and good to tell Yonnua to write an NPOV version of that article, but then what? You can't replace Battle of Krinks with it because it's been protected due to the arbitration cases. You would have to go through arbitration anyway to force your new NPOV version over Iscariot's versions etc. So in the end you'd have to go through arbitration unless by some amazing coincidence, no one complained about the new NPOV article. So you might as well just get it done now with Yonnua as official arbitrator. -- 11:41, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- The NSU complained. And is the article locked for everyone? I thought just for Iscariot and me... Oh and I accepted Yonnua as arbitrator, but Iscariot didn't. --Cornholioo 13:14, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- I meant in a new case, a case to wash the others away as null cases since the end product of the page will be fundamentally and inherently different. And yes. The page has been protected via the wiki software so no one can edit it except for sysops. -- 12:23, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- DDR has got it pretty much bang on. And by pretty much, I mean he has. The only was a new version of the page can really go through is if it's done on the arbitration page. Hence, the case you've got with Iscariot, or a new case is your best bet. I'd personally say the case with Iscariot, to avoid excess drama from another arbies case.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! - No, just carry on with the case against iscariot, and request that the page is made NPOV by an uninvolved party. Whether you specify who you want to do it is up to you, but it's likely that the arbitrator will either choose who does it, or do it themselves.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! The art of the Demerge
Demerging pages in concept is simple; first, you divert as many incoming links as possible, then transfer the information to the individual pages. Of course, this is all pretty obvious, and not what you were looking for.
Anyways, I try to follow a process when doing this:
- Open the page you want to demerge.
- Open another tab to the "what links here" page. This will be your main work page.
- Type the page name in the "find" field (ctrl+f) and go down the links list, finding and removing any incoming links.
- Example: you find a link to Apple School. Shorten it to Apple School
- Be careful when shortening; if the page's name is Apple School and you reduce it to Apple School, you'll create a red link or disambiguation link- it must be named Apple School. This is mainly a problem for multi-location names, coordinate locations, and those with "St/St." in them. If you are in doubt, just drop the "Suburb Schools#" piece.
- Some links are written with underscores (like_this) instead of spaces. If a location is still showing up on the "what links here" list after de-linking, try replacing some of the spaces in your find field with underscores.
- there is not much you can do about user page or protected pages. If it's a matter of redirecting a link to an individual location then that's fine, but links referencing the page's creation/existence/deletion are best left alone or unlinked (In these cases I'll either leave it as a red link or replace the brackets with bold text).
Once you have corrected all redirects and links, it is time to move onto the actual demerge.
- Click on one of the locations on the "What links here list".
- Copy the locationblock and information about the building from the merged page to the individual.
- Replace {{Locationblockmerge| with:
- {{Locationblock|
- location_type=Locationtypehere|
- {{Locationblock|
- Add a lv. 3 header (===header===) for Description, History, Barricade Plan, and Current Events if necessary.
- Put the following categories on the bottom of the page (don't use the stub template if the page is somehow acceptable):
- <br style="clear: both" />
- ----
- locations-stub
-
-
- Tidy up any leftover junk and move onto the next location.
- Once you are done, the "what links here" page should only have a few User: or administrative pages left, if anything. Put the merged location page and any extraneous redirects up on A/SD and move on.
While most people aim at taking these on suburb by suburb, I've found that demerging by location type involves fewer variables. I recommend you find or create a page (like I did here) to store some of the common coding, as this can get extremely repetitive.
Good luck! You'll need it. --~ Red Hawk One Talk | space for lease 23:08, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Couldn't we get a bot that will auto-archive everything from the previous month and set it to run on the 14th of every month? It'd save you having to do it all the long way. --

My last response to your bid question was poor and unjustified, so I'm coming back to explain further (and actually change my answer). After seeing what you have been doing since you asked me, I have really enjoyed watching you work on the wiki and you've satisfied my opinion of an ideal candidate; the difference between now and before being that you've become much more headstrong and have been a lot more perceptive when it comes to dealing with users and situations. Rather than just following someone else's stride, you've taken your own. Even when I don't agree with your actions sometimes, they haven't yet disappointed me with an outcome I find unsatisfactory towards the wiki's wellbeing. I am also hoping that the reason you didn't actually run at the end of last month was because of what I said. -- 03:31, 6 February 2010 (UTC)Dulston

Old Suburb News
I noticed that you were archiving some of the old news for the suburbs, and I was curious about something. The instructions say that news older than one month should be archived, but you were archiving news that was simply from the previous month, yet only two weeks old. Am I misinterpreting or misunderstanding the instructions, or is there some other set of guidelines governing these things that I'm not aware of? I'm simply looking for clarification for my own future reference, and am not interested in wiki-lawyering and the like. —Aichon— 17:46, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Funnily, I came here to say a similar thing. You see what you've started? All because you are too impressionable to make your own opinion? We need sysops that can formulate their own opinions based off the evidence, not just what one person throws at them. You didn't even check the entire situation yourself, you just walked over to Boxy's talk and made it his own problem without you even reading all the relevant pages to make your own opinion, and therefore seeing if what you were doing was right. Start working on being more perceptive. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 02:05, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- Since you're being all seven years old with the accusations, I'll point out now that Boxy actually started it. At no point have I ever requested a de-escalation, and rather than checking all of A/VD and making all necessary de-escalation in an objective manner Boxy has twice now targeted me in a petty manner and he knew full well I'd make an issue of this. Tell me how this targeted treatment is consistent with the good conduct of a responsible sysop? You're going to vote against Cyberbob's re-evaluation for drama causing, how is this any different? There's blame to be assigned here, and it should not be to this kid's doorstep, it should be to Boxy's.
- Mind you, I did tell him nothing would get changed as he can't admit he's wrong, the kid does need to learn the lesson from this that I'm always right. --

Suburb Patrol
we are commonly active in the south central 6 suburbs, and want to expand our reach and presence. Somewhat in the hopes of recruiting new members. We often scout as far as Tapton and kempsterbank, running 2-3 day missions, while maintian group safehouses in other suburbs as fall back and resuply points. is this(being listed in these suburbs) unreasonable? or considered poor practice/unethical? please respond on my talk page. you're input will be apreciated, and gladly accepted. we try our best not to ipmose on other groups, unless it extends roleplay. look forward to your response --Jack S13 T! PC 17:12, 8 October 2009 (BST)
- ack... wiki skills are rusty.
- what I'll do is retract the northern most 3 suburbs, untill maybe teh day comes that our group numbers grow. although we often have members present in thouse suburbs, we are not "active" in the same sense that we are constantly interacting with other survivors.
- more often it's simply scouting, or fire missions on group enemies. We despise the practices carried by the DEM and parttook gleefully in the The Uprising.
- Thanks for the head-check, and make sure you stay in touch. also, very nice user page! --Jack S13 T! PC 17:12, 8 October 2009 (BST)
- at least we hope we're contributing to the greater good. infact that's why we have issues with the DEM in the first place. most of us feel they violate the alt policey in the rules, and that they damage the culture of urbandead in a number of ways, like imposing authority, and overclaiming territory. pop by our forums anytime, or if you're in the south feel free to say hi.
- We've been batting around the idea of a Southern Alliance, a sort of continuation on the Malton Uprising. and yes, that is the one i ment hahahaha. banding together all the southern groups opposed to the DEM and the practice of Bounty hunting. But, from experience, it might not be worth the effort. --Jack S13 T! PC 20:03, 8 October 2009 (BST)

Dead Bunnies Controversy
Thanks
Thanks for your support on the "AnonSantlerville" page. It's not a Dribbling Beaver and the Rabbits have zero proof to support their "theory". They just throw around accusations wildly. Strange because that's what they accused us of, when we actually had them dead to rights on their zerging. Anyway, I think you are probably right on your guess as to that person's identity. There's no point in talking to them though. --Calista griffin 20:28, 18 August 2009 (BST)
- Calista, several members can corroborate that the user in question at the time of attack was Jack Heins. This leaves 2 alternatives: a)He took the screen himself or b)It was posted in the Beaver's forum, in which case the it was another beaver. --DTangent 09:08, 19 August 2009 (BST)

Because Wanyao didn't archive it
Well, even if it isn't considered voting, then people can still meatpuppet it.--User:Yonnua Koponen/signature 21:23, 21 July 2009 (BST)
- Well, there are two things wrong with that idea. First, if a bunch of users that no one has heard from suddenly come in a weigh in on a user, then it will be obvious. Second, since it is not a vote and merely a vouching system, the crats are the ones who hold the power of the nomination. They can look at the users who vote, and if they find a bunch of meatpuppets or socks, then they will take what they say with a grain of salt. Meatpuppetry is pretty obvious, in most cases. --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™ 21:28, 21 July 2009 (BST)

- They are the highest of the trusted users. They are nominated by the people and should have the people's best interests at heart. If they don't, then around the next crat review, they will get rotated out. Simple enough. In the meantime, you still have misconduct. Re-evaluations simply gives the community another tool for keeping everything working smoothly. --User:Akule/sig 22:18, 21 July 2009 (BST)
- Fair enough, though I still don't know wether they'd be completely impartial. Sure, they are highly trusted users, but they have friends, and I'm sure that they'd be willing to protect them. Promotion Bid - Cyberbob
There is one more little thing I'd like to address regarding my bid (our conversation there is taking up enough space as is). Your comment here makes me think that either you don't understand what I was saying or I wasn't being clear enough; basically what I mean is that the sort of behaviour you're upset with simply would not happen if I was a sysop. As I said, when you are a sysop there is a certain implicit pressre to take admin pages seriously even if you aren't performing an official sysop duty. You can't be misconducted, but you do still kind of feel like it's a requirement of the job. This goes for general behaviour on admin pages as well as the votes themselves. --Cyberbob 11:31, 10 June 2009 (BST)
In relation to Cyberbob's bid, please show me this fantasy world where all of the admins are neutral and fair and kind? :D --Mr. Angel, Help needed? 14:01, 10 June 2009 (BST)
- Also, you should make an archive as, while it's not against the rules, it's considered poor form to not archive conversations. They're sometimes used as evidence in admin cases and requests, so when there is a history purge, if the comments aren't archived, the evidence is lost when you try to look back on it.--Mr. Angel, Help needed? 14:03, 10 June 2009 (BST)
- Alright, thankee! Also, my other comment was more of a joke. I forgot the smiley apparently. T_T --Mr. Angel, Help needed? 15:46, 11 June 2009 (BST)
